Fitting since Messmer suffers from the same issues Morgott does, a lack of HP and crippling weakness to ranged attacks. I don't know if I was overleveled or anything, but Messmer could 2 or 3 shot me, and yet he died twice as fast as most other bosses, so he seemed a bit of a glass canon compared to the likes of Rellana or Bayle. Either that or he's weak to magic, since I was playing a sorcerer and haven't started my second playthrough with another character yet.

​@@urtoryu_dy_althraidnlet me tell ya no boss has magic weakness in dlc, magic may seem good because it deals absurd damage regardless of 40% magic negation, majority of dlc bosses have fire, lightning(due to paddle of water in almost every single boss arena) and holy type of damages. I had faith dex build so I just used flame art infusion or lightning infusion or sacred blade against undead dragons, and putrescent knight. And funnily enough Radahn in 1st phase has 0 holy damage negation, maybe due to the fact he is soulles shell in 1st phase(i did not it when i was fighting him though)

@@jagernkk9875 Yeah, beaten it now and took a look at defenses, was kinda surprised to see that nothing was weak to magic. It's been a bit of an odd experience to switch characters now and realize I'm doing more damage with less optimized builds than I was with my sorcerer, but I think it wasn't a bad call when playing sorcerer felt as balanced as it did (And I'm really exited for my holy character now that I looked at the resistances) Sorcery was always really powerful, but it's very fun to play with so I wouldn't like if it was nerfed. Having more resistant bosses is a good decision in my eyes. I also noticed the new bosses seem to avarege to 120 stance isntead of the 80 from the base game, which is probably following the same principles since stance breaking builds were extremely strong in the base game. (My strength playthrough was pretty much just as easy as my intelligence one because of that, if not even easier since I was more experience at the game)

@@Redeyedjedii A mixture of patience and sheer luck tbh, I was using a colossal hammer so I needed to be mindful of my openings, the general gist of it is that if he does a combo with an instant finisher, you get a light attack, if he does a delayed one, you get a fully charged heavy. Might take a while, but if you’re patient you can slowly kite him down, best of luck, I’m sure you can do it.

Just beat Messmer myself so I figured I'd watch this vid now. He is such a fun bossfight to learn and has so many cool attacks. My only disappointment is that his remembrance weapon doesn't have access to his fire toss into either stab or slash. I think it's be awesome if his base ash of war caused you to throw fire out, and then you can chain into normal attacks for fire stabs and heavy attacks for the slashes, and then using the alternate skill or heavy skill (like how moonveils skill can be used to attack light or heavy) causes you to do the attack it currently has. Then again that would be a lot for one weopan, but seeing how boring big spears moveset is I feel like it'd be cool to see.

One thing I love abt Messmer is he's different from most souls bosses in that he isn't really past his prime. Most times, you fight the legendary warrior after they've suffered heavy casualties, but with this dlc and Messmers especially they made sure you got their full strength.
