The dragonkin also seem to be missing their bowels, just like those of trolls. As if trolls were part of the design of the dragonkin. There is also a tear that transforms into a troll during Ranni’s questline…

I never really looked at the dragonkin’s appearance before. Watching the footage here, it looks like they have a very similarly scooped out torso that the trolls have. With that giant skeleton on that throne in the eternal cities area, could they perhaps have experimented with a giant version of albanaurics in an attempt to create a god or lord of some sort?

The one in Nokstella was the first one I came across and easily became one of my favorite bosses. Unfortunately, the other two were a bit of a letdown, but are still cool nonetheless.

I didn't mind the one in the first underground area you have access to because it was the first one I came across, so the nokstella one was just an upgrade to me. The one in the lake of rot was a massive disappointment though, the area itself is one of the coolest in the game but we only get three copypasta bosses that have nothing to do with Scarlet rot to fight there

I believe this was an attempt to create a perfect soldier using the culmination of specific creatures. If you look at the stomachs it's caved in like a trolls so I believe these were trolls who were forced to undergo dragon communion.

But the dragonkin soldiers DO use their legs- some of their attacks necessitate this, and you can even see during many moments in the very clips you captured that their feet, legs, ankles and thighs are all part of their locomotion. They do not STAND, no, but this is a far cry from the fate of the albinaurics, let alone make them related to dragonkin soldiers! You might be onto something with the Vyke and Lanseaxx theory, though, that seems a lot more plausible.

I was going to say the same thing. Circle around them enough in melee and you can see them basically crawling around on 4 limbs. For sure, they don't stand up on their hind legs, but I think their posture is probably meant to harken toward dragons instead of the albinaurics.

The hollowed out chest is a damning hole in the lore. My thought is this. The Troll Knight’s Sword says this: “Greatsword embedded with a blue glintstone. Weapon of the trolls in service to the royal family of Caria. Called into service when the Queen invoked an oath they swore, the trolls are treated as true knights of Caria, and fight arm in arm with their human comrades.” The trolls have some sort of service to Queen Rennala and the Carian Royal family, with at least three Troll Knights as well as War Counselor Iji in service to Ranni. And, we know that each of the Carians have ties to the Eternal Cities in some capacity; Rennala obviously utilizes Larval Tears, Ranni wishes to usher in the Age of the Stars, Radahn learned gravity magic in Sellia, and Rykard studies the Albinaurics. In my opinion, it is not a stretch to assume that in kindred spirit of blasphemy, one of the Carians, most likely Ranni or Rennala, employed their sworn trolls into the service of the Nox for use in their Silver Tear experiments. Evidence of this would be that the Tear guarding the Fingerslayer Blade in Nokron can transform into a troll. Therefore, my theory is that the Nox received the trolls from Caria, and thus having a bigger canvas to paint with so to speak, they were the ideal starting point for experiments involving dragons.

I think the hollowed out chest of the trolls has more to do with their relation to the Giants. The Trolls supposedly sided with the Erdtree during the war against the Giants, then the One Eyed Fell God that we see in the Fire Giant and all the other giants, left the trolls, effectively discarding them, giving them the cavity in their chest

Everything related to dragons is fascinating. The fights are all good, all of their kin are interesting, they have connections to the rest of the world via dragon communion and the dragon cult and great lore. But the most interesting bit is Placidusax. Their being the very first Elden Lord, their wounds, the fact that the remaining heads are coded as male and female, the fact that the god before Marika was probably a dragon and no one knows what happened to them, so the Dragonlord is just... Waiting for their god to come back. In a tornado in a crumbling city sitting on nothing outside of time.

I think you're rite with the origins with the dragonkin soldiers. But I have a theory that the first gen albanaurics are being created at the place where you fight the spirit of Loretta in the Carian manor, there are so many albanaurics in liurnia and the description of the ripple blade describes a process of beings being created and the blades design being similar to the process. Its looks like a relic sword being plunged into a liquid causing ripples. But think about the moon being rite over that area and someone doing this process in that weird looking water, and imagine what the reflection of the person is flipped. not a sword piercing water, but another being from another dimension holding the handle. Looks like shoes don't fit through the portal though

Well, we do have similar creatures such as Priscilla from Dark Souls. Plus the Nox / Numen could have been using Gravelstone Dragon scales as an ingredient to make an alternate type of homunculus besides the Albinaurics. Most likely both creatures were grown in similar containers but the creators experimented with different materials.

I think its really interesting how the dragonkin soldiers dont have a belly.. Just like the other giants, it looks like it was removed. To me it feels like gigantism in general is somehow tied to the Fell god. (Maybe they were made underneath the Lands between, and then abandoned.) Only true dragons can somehow Bypass the influence of the Fell god, possibly by having their own outer god that interferes. (since lightning "miracles" arent tied to any known god yet. I think.. )

Im pretty sure dragon communion is separate from the dragon cult but I would need to read it over again, dragon communion is hunting dragons for their hearts while the dragon cult worships them and receives their blessings from there. Dragon cult gets cool red lightning attacks and dragon communion gets dragon bodies

The giant statues of skeletons in various areas of the game there is one right behind one of the dragon kin soldiers what if the dragon kin are a result of the alburniacs par taking of dragon communion in an effect to become immortal and the dragon-kin soldiers are the result of that.

Also something to solidify the theory on the dragonkin being made from a silver tear, though most things made from them are human size - if you go to nights sacred ground in nokron following ranni's quest line you'll fight through a bunch of sliver tears right before you can get the fingers fingerslayer blade. Most of them are either regular tears or they transform into some version of a tarnished wielding a type of wepon, but the last silver tear closest to the treasure will transform into a troll- so it shows that they had accomplished size manipulation with the silver tear before so It wouldn't be a stretch that they may have use similar techniques to create the dragonkin

The Dragonkin are more than likely the result of a troll being rebirthed through a silver tear with some form of dragon in the mix, I disagree with the idea the look is largely an aesthetic choice, because it actually explains a question I’ve personally had, where the mimic in nokstella ever saw a troll in the first place, if they were the subjects of the Dragonkin experiments then it would make a likely scenario a mimic would have seen one, And ties fairly nicely with the rest of the no legs bit and whatnot, furthermore I’d argue if they are trolls, the cavity being the removal of the fell god makes even more sense to me, perhaps they could never achieve true lightning because they were robbed of their center of communion, TLDR, I’m pretty sure it’s a reborn troll

It's definitely a strong theory, the only missing thread in our eyes is how Nokstella would get their hands on the trolls given the time period this probably happened. We also like the idea of these creatures originally being born from a silver tear and the large nox we see the skeletons of.

Two things I want to bring up: Ice Lightning (Frozen Lightning Spear) is a Dragon Cult incantation, implying this power was borrowed from or an offshoot of dragon worship. Also, the Malformed Dragon Sentinels/Tree Sentinels aspired to become dragons themselves, and their armor is either inspired by or inspires some of the design of the Dragonkin, especially around the head area. Could it be possible the Dragonkin were transmogrified former Sentinels? It's not totally farfetched; one of the starting races in the game (Nightkin, I think?) is implied to have silver tear ancestry, as they bled silver long ago. Maybe they were some merger between silver tears, dragons and pre-existing life.

an idea : according to tarnished archeologist on elden ring history videos that i watched "the great tree related video i think" dragonkins could be for the crucible era and could be a hybrid or a grafting of trolls and dragons cause most of the creatures at that times of land between were producing hybrids or grafted due to the "grafted trunk of great tree" "able to understand by watching the video i really liked it" , done by the eternal city society

Dragonkin Soldiers can be Transforming Silver Tear that try mixing Gravel Stone Dragon + Troll + Albinaurics together. One transforming Silver Tear that guarding Fingerslayer Blade Chest turns into a Troll and Dragonkin Soldiers have some empty tummy like Trolls too.

Idk if this is relevant or not but I'm wondering if maybe the silver tear is somehow related to the crimson tear and cerulean tear? Since the crimson tear restores health and cerulean restores fp maybe to make a perfect being you'd use the silver tear as to make the body with life, the cerulean tear to make the body fully capable of working and the cerulean to allow it to do things? It's probably not related but it's a thought.

Great video and very interesting theory but the Dragonkin Soldiers do use their legs. One of the later clips in your video shows them standing and then jumping with those same legs. I don't think they were created the same way the Albinaurics were but were instead maybe trolls or something that were experimented on....

I do agree with them being artificial life created by the eternal cities but the silver tear angle doesn't really fit. For some hard evidence, their blood, all other silver tear beings have white or silver blood. Dragonkin have red blood like humans and dragons do. While I can't think of a specific method of production, just having bad legs isn't enough of a connection for me, that can easily be thought of as them just being old and decrepit.

Given lack of info the only process for their creation we can guess is the only one given, the tears. I still sit on the other side but there’s really no hard evidence supporting or denying it. I do like the idea that one other in the comments suggests of them being derived of trolls but I sit on the fence of that thinking the chest cavity might just be an aesthetic similarity by the game designers.

I do think rather then just some elemental lightning being added I think actual dragon flesh of some kind is present. Like maybe for those tears that produce lightning, they are created is by adding some gravel scales into the tears themselves.

But gravel stone actually not the reason why ancient dragons were immortals we got one proof of that , they’re not immortal anymore even if their scale is still made of gravel stone we can pick sum on grandsax who doesn’t seem to be immortal anymore if u ask me ... so that’s maybe why the nox failed to mimic the ancient dragon and ended up making a pale copy they didn’t understood the real source of the ancient dragons power and immortality
