Elden Ring Lore - The Omenkillers

My read on the Perfumer-to-Omenkiller pipeline is that Rollo probably thought he was performing a grim necessity like putting down rabid dog. He had to kill his emotions with a special concoction, so he wasn't some bloodthirsty sadist doing it for kicks. The real question is why the other Omenkillers started cropping up. Was there a sudden spike in Omen births that made the people of Leyndell nervous about being overrun by the dirty little secrets they kept in the Shunning Grounds?

I would theorize that omens started to reproduce in the sewers, and well some might have started to escape sewers and cause panic on the city.

My guess is that Rollo was a little too effective, and the people in power decided they needed more people like him.

I feel like with the dlc revelations, I can conclude that omenkillers originated in the shadow realm and were active soldiers sent by marika and messmer to kill off the hornsent

My assumption was rollo was apart of the perfumers who were ordered to amputate omen babies. Due to the high mortality rate he was crestfallen to the point of needing some fix. Creates the physic, rids himself of emotion, others capitalize on how he will do ANYTHING now and changes his job to actively hunt omen who weren’t given up to be amputated

I like that the flame breath is from their concoction (like the poison breath Patches uses) to hint at being their perfumer origins. These doctors being twisted by the Golden Order into fighters and brutish hunters is one of a part of the lore I love running into

I love fighting the omens. One of the coolest and most difficult non-boss enemies in the game.

Great video, as usual! There is a theory that says that both the perfumer and the omenkiller at the Albinauric Village are actually puppets from Seluvis based on his hidden "playground". That he would know of Gideon's plans aligns with Dolores lore that both were once friends. Maybe his puppets are double agents. Who would ever suspect? Keep runnning this awesome channel, please!

I don't agree that the Omen killers are cowards and need perfume to forget anything. More that it amplifies them like an incantation, such as we use.

Rollo's ashes do specify he "imbibed a physick to rid himself of emotion." I don't believe that can be considered any kind of amplification unless you consider suppressing your conscience as a strength.

Strange so many would feel guilty and not filled with ranks of justified, backed by their belief in the Golden Order. It more makes it seem none really did if the human trait of seeing something ugly as repulsive didn't reinforce it.

They started as perfumers and we know Trisha was known for her compassion to all. It's possible this was norm amongst the perfumers before their conscription into the ranks of the golden order.

@@square-table-gaming No perfumer would have a bias considering they grew up in the Lands Between under the Golden Order? It just seems unnatural from how we know humans can be herded in mentality. There may be those of tender heart, but most fall into line with whatever popular view there is and will justify whatever action under it, because usually it's enforced with superstition/folklore introduced at an early age. Unless Perfumers were a people all their own and not just rank of organization, their numbers would eventually be filled with newer generations coming up under the order. And didn't the Omen start appearing toward the end of the Golden Order's reign? Thousands of years would have passed.
