@@13mrservon outfit aesthetics pretty much drip = good shit, a flashy or just well put together outfit (like a suit could be drip, but j u s t being expensive =/= drip) hopefully that made any sense at all and helped even in the slightest

When I first started I went with the bandit like I did in Dark Souls, I didn’t realize until later that the confessors are the ones with the stealth abilities.

As cool as the drip was I never chose the confessor as a starting class. In the end, it came down to the wretch. No better drip than all natural.

Also I think Marika, Sellen, and Melina are Three bodies and three souls interconnected similar to Morrigan in Celtic Mythology. The Death Bird Foot is what connects them.

It's a little hard for me to tell what is going on in the design exactly but it kind of looks like a sword going between two snakes or possibly it's the two fingers kind of doing a fingers crossed gesture and the sword is going through them.

The hardest line I've read about assassins is on the Crepus Vial: "There was a time when Tarnished who had strayed from guidance feared nothing more than utter silence." Like, literally have never read anything that hard in anything that was like that. Whenever you read about assassins it's always "you'll never hear/see them coming" or something to that effect. But "feared nothing more than utter silence" does it in another way. Like they were so good at their jobs and so feared that just being somewhere quiet was paranoia inducing

I like the theory about Rileigh The Idle being Crepus. Crepus is Surname that in Latin means Twlight or Dusk or Darkness. Rileigh being a Confessor and using the Black-Key Crossbow hints at his name being Rileigh Crepus or possible known by his fellow confessors as “Brother Crepus” or “Father Crepus” or something like that.

The use of rot is very interesting, especially since it is connected to another outer god and associated with heresy. I wonder if this has to do with the confessors heretical origins. Perhaps the first confessor strayed from grace and acquired rot weaponry, and when they confessed and were made into an assassin, they continued to use the power they had acquired.

The greater will isn’t an outer god, the god of rot would be the equivalent of Marika the god of the golden order, and it’s her daughter who would be the goddess of rot.

Huh, I never really took in the word 'OUTSIDE' when reading the item description for the Confessor Armor. Let's look at those implications real quick: 1. That means there Two Fingers outside the Lands Between. That would imply that the Greater Will is also outside the Lands Between, in other lands of this realm. 2. That the heretics lose sight of their grace in their homeland, and then are sent/exiled to the Lands Between to serve the main branch of the church?? This would mean there might be a fresh supply of Confessors, and that Rileigh was merely the latest of those to come over. Though, him having such a lore-crazy dagger is still crazy to me. That means he must have gone down through the tunnels, too. Great video, as usual!

I think the current batch of confessors (us presumably) come from churches established by those who have lineage tracing back to the long march. It seems more likely that the fingers only exist in the lands between but that the religion is alive and well outside of it. Gideon talks about how it's been a long time since he's seen a new tarnished at the hold when we find our way there. If Rileigh were a new tarnished I think he'd have made an appearance before the Two-Fingers as soon as possible, which is why I still believe he's actually Crepus. Your reading of events definitely holds water though.

There is two items not mentioned in this video, the beastlure pot, and the alluring pot. They are made with assassins incantations, and have a symbol of the order on the pot. As to why they needed to lure beasts close or away, I am unsure

A Draconian Confessor was my Choice. I love Elden Ring Lore, the Theories someone can come up with by only listening to 1 Video is Crazy. When I read about Darkness and Crepus Veil it reminds me of Radagon and his Dark Shadowy missing Limbs. And after you beat him he is ingulfed in Darkness. Am I the Only one who sees a Connection ?

Personally, the way I like the think about their name is that the Confessors take on the role of actual confessors, absolving sins and all that, and also doubling as assassins for the church when need be. Perhaps it is they, the Confessors, who carry with them the power to absolve sin, that are chosen as assassins since they can absolve their own. For instance, making use of things that could potentially be considered heretical if it is necessary. After which, they can absolve themselves, and carry on. This is all speculation, mind you.

It's poison outside of the castle but it's heavily implied it's there due to Maleigh Marais worship of Malenia and the cleanrot knights he allows to stay at the castle.

They are not called confessors because the confessed their sins. They are called confessors because they hear the confessions of others' sins and then give them absolution. This is what a confessor is irl. The Confessor in Elden Ring is the same. They make other Tarnished confess to their sins, and then deliver absolution in the form of death.

Their means of dealing death and the fact that they are referred to as assassins seems to indicate that they kill from the shadows. They most likely do not meet their prey head-on and force them to confess anything. Everything in game suggests that if you are killed by a confessor you do not see it coming.
