You really need to watch yourself with using copyrighted tracks in your videos. It is one thing to use tracks from the source material you are reviewing/talking about. It is an entirely different thing to use copyrighted tracks from other media, especially uncredited in your description. (Which isn't even enough to protect you from litigation) I don't say this to scare you, but because I respect you and I absolutely love your videos. It is just a slippery slope and I wouldn't want to see your channel get squashed by a YT ban hammer. I suggest using Artlist or some other licensed music service for epic tracks. Love your content my guy!

I think Elden Ring, artistically, is the greatest game ever made. I also was sick of video games until I played Elden Ring. I was not hyped about the game, idk when it was coming out, I started playing it purely off word of mouth. Rarely do you have a game hyped so much, yet so little, and exceed every expectation imaginable.

I've played BB and DS3. They are far more dense AND grand at the same time compared to ER in terms of general design, more intricately detailed even. But ER has a far more varied and diverse pallete and mood than anything I have ever seen before. It juxtaposes vibrant colors with it's dark and tragic themes. It feels like the 2nd impressionism masterpiece of modern AAA games after The Witcher 3. It has low-res and muddy textures up-close, grass and scabbards clip through capes and floor geometry. It's looks like a technically outdated game upclose. But view things from a certain distance and you'll see it. The composition of the vistas look meticulously curated and the use of complementary colors shows how much artistic knowledge FromSoft has. Even the UI/HuD designs feels immersive for some reason. I really prefer this and TW3's art direction over more realistic games like RdR2, AC, Horizon, Ghost of Tsushima, TloU

This game legit felt like exploring does in my dreams. Every detail seems to have so much depth. When the pandemic hit I lost my job and had a hard time finding work that paid well and I basically specialize in, I’m also a veteran that suffers with PTS. And even though I do have a family that I love with the first two compounding on top of severe depression sometimes those negative factors just caught up and made just being difficult. So when I found time to start gaming again I finally hunkered down and played through the Souls series, it was hard, it was challenging and sometimes I wanted to quit and go play GR:Wildlands or something easy, but Fromsoft games are so beautiful and enticing that I persevered, adapted and overcame though challenges. Those were traits that I did have to relearn that weren’t in a military manner and those three DS games were truly rewarding to beat. The feelings I felt about the game transferred into my mental health, ultimately I accepted the emotional challenges, difficulties and fear I went through and still go through from time to time. They helped me realize that thing will be okay and hard times will pass as long as I utilize what I have around me and my inner strength. When ER came out it was like I was able to be free to readily tackle obstacles with a joyful anticipation. I know in the end they are just video games but I will always cherish and love them as well as Fromsoft for what they had given me, and if I’m being truly honest even though I have a family I love deeply the Souls series came into my life where I had considered ending it all. They had in a way prevented something tragic from happening and any suffering I would have caused to my loved ones. I will always be thankful for what Miyazaki has given the world, I would love nothing more than to thank him for those works of art, flaws and all. I know this comment is basically a poorly written essay but it’s the truth.

I'm on my third playthrough trying to beat all bosses while being severely underleveled. I just found Highroad Cave for the first time and it was fascinating to see how much environmental storytelling happens in that cave. Since it was an area I missed in previous playthroughs, it gave me that excitement and wonder that other new areas had given me on my first playthrough. I'm sure I'll eventually stop playing Elden Ring so frequently, but for right now, I just want to keep coming back to it. I share a lot of the same thoughts on the game. I hadn't played any Souls games before Elden Ring, and I didn't even realize it was made by the same people that made Dark Souls until a little later, but when I saw one of the trailers, I wanted to play it because the world looked so beautiful and magical. I was hoping it would be a deeply immersive game that had a fantastic world that I would want to get lost in and it delivered! On top of that, because it's a FromSoft game, the challenge of the game made the game loop so rewarding and satisfying. My point is, I love this game, regardless of its flaws, because it gave me something that I hadn't found with other games for a long time. I love Leyndell, it's such a beautifully intricate area. I love Radahn and his fight because of how the characters build up to it and how the fight is set up, I love Godfrey and Radagon because of how challenging they are and yet feel pretty fair imo. In short, despite the flaws of the game, I love it for the many things it did well and often spectacularly well.

I very much appreciated your painting comparison regarding Elden Ring's graphics. Modern AAA-games typically aim for realism, so now there are many gamers (both new and old) who expect a AAA-game to achieve photorealism, and they need to do so in order for the graphics to be "good." I am not saying one must enjoy Elden Ring's graphics, or any graphics that don't necessarily try to imitate reality, but I believe it's important that more gamers should try to understand and appreciate different art styles, especially since now the sky is the limit for how photorealistic games can be. It also doesn't help that Elden Ring is by far the most popular and advertised FromSoftware game to date, so it brought in many people who are unfamiliar with this kind of gameplay and art style.

I agree. One of the coolest moments was fighting godrick, him tearing the dragons head and grafting it as a flamethrower was so epic. Leyndell had me in awe seeing a dragon amidst the boulders. Don't even get me started on my first time finding the underground in siofra river, discovering a world under the other.

Great video! I agree wholeheartedly. I've found a lot of love in little indie games or games like Breath of the Wild in recent years, but Elden Ring has truly raised the bar when it comes to an imaginative world and an almost archeological way of storytelling. The player is uncovering this story of what happened to this world that is in such turmoil. Both through artifacts in the world and through the community (including your lore vids) the player uncovers the past and it shapes the decisions they make as they go through the game. Also - nice use of Skyrim music ;) that's one of my favorite original scores to any game. I hope Bethesda can land the ship (pun intended) with Starfield... though I kind of doubt it. And I know Elder Scrolls 6 is years away, but I'm looking to that to take some pages out of FromSoft's book.

I love this game! The only critique that I have is that it is a bit to big or feels a bit to big even for an open world. Besides that I don t have anything meaningful to say. We could talk about the repeated bosses, how malenia is "unfair", or that depending on how and how much you explore part of the game might feel way easier or way harder. But I think that those things were still well managed. 1 The repeated bosses are different enough to not feel like the exact same thing; 2 In the Malenia fight the only move that might oneshot you even withe respectable vigor is her waterfowl dance, but you can lern how to doge it, bloodhound step should still work, a good shild and you can summon to split the agro, etc. 3 the exploration kinda manages itself, if somthing feels to hard you can go somewhere else and get stronger, if it feels to easy I honestly don't know what you could do besides nerfing yourself. But thats all. I am on my 3rd playthrough and I'm still finding new things.

I’d say my first jaw dropping moment was finding the sofra river well hidden under a forest and minor erd tree in limgrave. Several seconds pass as the elevator just falls into the ground, ages away from what I thought would be just the 6-7 main areas of the game. Then the walls disappear and the grand, terrifying area becomes visible. Exploring passed the first rounds of enemies and then rushing to the site of grace only to look up and see great white pillars and a palace in the distance with an amazing haze of red and warmth. Damn

Good video. Really nice cinematic shots that just show how beautiful this game is. Especially with the underground areas. One thing to talk about though just like what you implied. Art is very subjective a lot of the time. Personally speaking, I find Bloodborne to be a much better artistically designed than Elden Ring ever was, but I know that others probably believe that Elden Ring is. Games like Journey, Darkest Dungeon, Omori, and Control all have incredibly different art styles and even graphics, but that doesn't make any of them better than the other. That's honestly what's good with art. There is no wrong answer to it. Great video btw. If you're gonna be talking about character lore, make sure to check up on Bernahl. For me, he's the most interesting character. I just love how much implies how strong and influential he actually was.

About a week ago I posted a comment on a video essay criticizing many things about Elden Ring and how people constantly want to criticize Elden Ring as a failed Dark Souls 4, when it's clearly a completely different experience that the developers decided to give you. I went more in-depth on how people should see games as art, and for that you shouldn't compare A to B and criticize A as B, but criticize it under the premise and ideas the game set out to bring, not under the premise of a completely and fundamentally different game just because it comes from the same company. It's good to see these thoughts more concisely and professionally brought up and I thank you for making this video, especially after the myriad of video essays that go down on the game ignoring it as a work of art, and seeing it as just a product for entertainment with no deeper meaning just because they were disappointed due to certain personal preferences. Elden Ring isn't a perfect game and it has MANY flaws. But we should stop criticizing it as something it was never made to be. We need to criticize and interpret Elden Ring as *Elden Ring*.

I am 42. My impression is clear : elden ring' s developpers way of thinking the game is the most close To the spirit of the 80-90's era that I have ever seen on a récent game . Fromsoft understood that when you want to please everybody, you make a beige-without taste product (unlike Disney etc ..) I am glad to have the sensations I had when I was 10 in 1990, and when games were unapologetics, hard and told : "you not happy ? F^/* you, and work" We love To overcome challenges. This spirit with such beautiful artistic taste and graphic technology was everything I thought Every games were To be in the 2000's when I was kid. The other AAA games are .... pale in comparison now :) (The only other game I love too is Hollow Knight) (English is not my 1st language, forgive my akward expressions some times "")

For someone who has a job that devours much of your life, body and mind, Video Games were but a distraction. But as with you, in time, it became more of a chore, a thing I had to force myself. I had played all the Fromsoft games, from the Demons souls on PS3 to Sekiro, and each game gave me a good time to simply break away. But, alas, every single game eventually 'ends' and you awake from the dream. Return to 'reality'. The most fun, as you learned yourself, was Bloodborne, not just solely for the story, but as a member of the Dungeon Diver. Diving into the catacombs of the gods to simply explore, find stuff, and share whenever possible. It was one of the few things that kept me playing. Upon the release date of Elden Ring, I was excited. But like many who played the series, I was worried. For I knew, I'd play it. I will play it and see it through, for that I decided. And....well....upon entering Limgrave, exploring everything, casting the Guiding Grace's direction aside, I went ahead and just...yeah, I felt once again like my childhood, exploring a world so very new to me. With the mechanics of the souls series, I spent hours in just walking around. Alongside my roommates, who got the game themselves, we explored all of it. Curiosity fills us. Dread and laughter when we encountered a thing that was way above our level (we were all around LV30, Mage, Bandit and Wretch) so when we found stuff, we got all excited. For a game that is around death, about despair, and the whole world is broken, it was an experience. Whether it was as a group, a lone adventurer or a malicious spirit, hunting my prey in a land we both knew nothing about.... It was, still, and will be always a blast. And like many, many, many players...it would be a delight to have your memory erased of this game, just to experience it all over again. To feel the joy of playing a video game once again.

I wasn't really hyped for this game. If anything I thought it would just be another Soulslike with the same ol' dark, analogous color palette. I have never been so wrong. Everything from the massive silhouettes in the distance that evolkes mystery and lore begging to be explored, to the dramatic and cinematic lighting and even the unobstructive UI design that feels immersive along with the idle and exploration camera placement has been perfeced. It doesn't have the technical fidelity of most AAA games these days but the sheer amount of curated visual designs here really shows FromSoft's artistic knowledge. Elden Ring = Art,

I was fully intending to wait for the Steam sale since I'm aging, patient, and just don't tend to allocate as much time to games as I used to. Then I saw gameplay footage, and how well crafted the visuals were, I broke down after about a month and paid full price + a better GPU because I wanted to experience this beautiful, stylized, painterly and entirely not "realistic" world first hand. Worth the price of admission, even plus a couple hundred bucks for a new card.

Been a while since I platinumed the game, and the cracks are more obvious since completing it, especially when starting a new game from scratch, but I am still playing it from time to time. The game is absolutely beautiful even on the PS4, and there are still things I haven't discovered on my own even after 300 plus hours later. Also, I have yet to try out other playstyles and builds, so as long as I take enough breaks in between, I can go back to ER and play. For all its flaws, it is nice to go and play a game that actually feels like a complete game.

Bioshock series, Witcher series, Skyrim, God of War 2018 and just a handful of more games including Elden Ring made me feel like a child again, made me feel special and safe that I was given the opportunity to get to experience these masterpieces. Elden Ring brought back hope to gaming.

The fact this game sold more copies than the newest COD really shows how gamers feel about the modern gaming scene. The way From Soft didn't lower their difficulty, but made this game as accessible as possible with as many quality of life improvements and tools and abilities they could think of was brilliant and really showed From Soft games don't need an easy mode to appeal to most gamers.

I haven't put this game down in 3 months. I'm a casual player with a large family, and I can't play alot...but this is the ONLY game I have played in months. It's as perfect as I can sum up. It's challenging, beautiful, and you can truly play YOUR way. 110 hours in and I'm going no where.

I love the Skyrim music too. Honestly, this is the best open world game since Skyrim, and I think this is significantly better than Skyrim.

I think the most important thing for people to realize when criticizing the "realism" of the world is that this is not supposed to be a real world. We are in the middle of, and the subject of, a mythology. This is supposed to be a mythological world, not a "real"one

From software games are so good that they designed them to play it again once you finish it only to experience a new outcome. Fromsoft has always been able to keep thier player base engaged leading up to the next exansion or title. Im not super into gaming anymore but elden ring pulled me back and kept ke playing for months. Not only playing but indulging in lore content ect. That is what it feels like to be apart of a solid fanbase and from software delivered unlike many other franchises.. we are all having a good time and things are good in the gaming hobby again.
