You want a secret? The Rennala we fight in Raya Lucaria is a puppet. We get her remembrance, so she is for sure dead... but she is still there after our fight. Her phase 2 looks exactly like a spirit summon looks. Which are summonsed with someone ashes. Most of Ranni's forces are puppet soldiers. Her perspector is a puppet. She is a puppet herself. So she has the means to do something like this. Loretta, Rennala's personal Knight has abandoned her. Why would she do that? Ranni was raised by a Snow Witch. Why wasn't she raised by Rennala herself? The answer of course is that Rennala is dead. Ever her design. A stretched out neck (I believe she hanged herself) and barefoot. And she never touches the ground unless you force her to... Ranni's Darkmoon spell even says its the spell of the Carian Queen. Which is what tipped me off in the first place. Look into it. Im telling you man. Its all there.

If you kill the BLOODY FINGER HUNTER YURA he quotes that he can't die until "she" is eradicated. Maybe that has something to do with the frenzied flame and the sound we can hear. Shabriri also takes over his body later.
@diontes14802 жыл бұрын
Like Esgar, Yura is driven by seething revenge when you progress their quests long enough. Yura becomes Shabriri, Esgar falls victim to the Frenzied Flame after seeing Irina's death, dropping a Shabriri Grape once killed when he invades you. Chaos. I personally feel this is the precursor of how it plays a roll in Dark Souls. I have a theory where the unique endings of ER are homages to FROMS older games. When you save Milenda from sacrificing yourself, the Frenzied Flame will add on a new cutscene showing the color of her closed eye. Pale blue. Just like a Fire keeper.

Some of the rune characters strung together on the map remind me somewhat of bind runes, which simply explained are two or more runes combined together to enhance the runes' meaning in some way. I have 2 pretty cool theories I haven't seen online yet. 1. the gods are actually a spectrum of ONE god, with the frenzied flame tying them together. So, The Mother of Truth combines blood and fire in the red spectrum while also being an invisible "formless" red glintstone star. Red is the highest end of the visible electromagnetic spectrum so it seems to be a reference to the edge of human perception. This combined with the knowledge of how multiple beings can be one with Radagon and Marika, Miquella and St Trina, Ranni and Melina etc and how theres frost lightning as well as other weird, blurred lines of reality. So if beings that aren't even on a higher plane can be 2 or more beings, whats to stop the god of Elden Ring being so complex that its filtered down into different levels of percievance? 2. The Great Tree used to be in the centre of the map, the whole lake/ ocean in the middle was the Great Tree. The strange flaky rock at the edge of the divine towers all surrounding the central lake is almost definitely petrified wood, like the pillars underground resembling the perfectly spaced out trees in both dark souls and bloodborne. If thats the case, the Erdtree wouldve come down on an angle that simultaneously moved Farum Azula to its current location, destroys the entire central landmass and took out the space between Caelid and Mountaintop of the Giants. I LOVE how this game allows so many incompatible theories that dont cause plot holes in the context of the game itself. It's like a testament to the human ability to view things in an almost infinite number of ways

For the humming in the Madness Flame, I did indeed hear something and I'm pretty sure it's a form of humming. I've been thinking about it and I view it in a few ways: 1) Peace in madness. The mad operate under beliefs, emotions and actions we can deem foreign or terrifying but to them is calming and reinforcing, it gives them a new perspective on life. So while many are drowning in pain and begging for help, some are calmed by their madness and the knowledge that the Three Fingers and Flame of Frenzy are looking over them probably soothes at least some of them. 2) Music seems to be a sizeable part of the Merchants and I don't see why the Madness Flame they brought into this world doesn't have aspects of music within it, this aspect being singing. Music is art and many forms of madness can be expressed through art. 3) it could also be a reference to the Winter Lanterns as well, who sing and drive you mad upon viewing them, much like how simply being within view of this flaming orb drives you mad. The song and sight of it is enough to break your character, as you are being exposed to a cacophony of suffering from countless people all bundled up into an aspect of, basically, an outer god.

While you can actually customize some of the character’s looks beyond just picking skins and accessories (like hair, eye color, skin color, etc), you can play a character in vastly different ways by choosing variations on abilities and ults and by the kinds of weapons you choose. I don’t think it’s often that you see two people play the same character in exactly the same way which keeps the game fresh.

About the written inscriptions over the map, it used to be more visible during the demo, ppl got interessed and managed to decypher a lot of it bc it was inspired by old langages. some of them were realistic markings to warn souls from a certain fate (vortex sea monsters etc), some others were a bit lore related as descibing other lands or geographical interest points. In the end most of them were developpers easter egg signature/puns. If i remember correctly this was removed when the game was released. Relating with your early point about demoralisation, I've been replaying earlier From titles, and it's really helping remind me what makes From's mysterious style of lore/story/context so amazing, and I'm getting really juiced to delve into another ER play through with a refreshed/renewed perspective and vigor, even though (imo) ER doesn't quite do it as well as some of their previous releases, I think maybe part due to seemingly unfinished elements, and part due to the open world allowing players to find more stuff but in a harder to predict order, rather than laying pieces leading through like a story, building a more carefully crafted perspective/understanding depending on how much you discover and learn. Exactly like you said early on, perspective seems to be incredibly important. You can get a completely different experience of the story of many of their games depending on how much information you have gathered throughout your time with it, which NPCs you trust, etc.

A lot of times when geometry is deleted in a 3d world, there is more often than not, phantom geometry left that is leftover that is not initially noticed by developers. I still think it's fundamentally easier and less engaging story telling to not write a story and expect viewers to write the gaps for you. That said, I still think a writer, at least one, somewhere in the From Offices, had a story in their head. To make a little more sense of it I have this theory; The item description for Elden Stars says the Elden Beast and the Elden Ring came to the earth together as a falling star. I believe this is revisionist history, in game, by the two fingers and the Greater Will. The Elden Ring belongs to the earth. It always has. The Greater Will adopted the name of Elden Beast for it's auger to sela the connection between it and the Elden Ring. But what happens in all the ending? More to the point, why the hell do we have to burn the Erdtree and slay the Elden Beast to them serve the ErdTree and Elden Beast? We don't. Merikas plan involves us becoming the first Elden Lord apart from the Greater Will. Merikas plan was this; the Erdtree is a parasite, and the Greater Will has usurped the Elden Ring. To banish the Greater Will Merika first shatters the Elden Ring, making it harder for a single entity to control, and effectively giving most of the runes back to the races of the earth or whatever it's called. The Greater Will gets the idea though, and entraps her in the Erdtree. Burning the Erdtree weakens the Greater Will and opens it up to direct assault. Destroying the Elden Beast banishes the Greater Wills influence over the Elden Ring, and we reforge it as the new, and first Elden Lord of Man. It makes it even more amazing that Merika knew to send Godfrey away. She planned for it to be Godfreys descendants, the greatest/most influential of all men, to reclaim the Elden Ring, and it worked. She also had to sacrifice her very being to accomplish this for us. From this angle, I actually like Merika rather than thinking her plan had actually no thought out into it. If this isn't somehow part of the answer then I am totally lost as to the purpose of burning the tree and slaying the beast. Other than "because video game."

If you didn't know already the entire map of elden ring looks like a curled finger. In the same shape as the finger items in your inventory

I felt like the meteor in the ocean in the last bit was actually a rock floating and the water being pushed back from it's levitation. Turned out to be nothing so far, maybe like those old world maps that had magical creatures and other crazy things inspired by imagination.

I don't know how much I would call it "accurately" playing but still neat (look at instruments like the guitar, violin/cello/etc - you typically want a fretboard of some degree to play on, fretted or not, to make it eaiser on the musician to play notes correctly and consistently, their instruments seem to have a rounded "fretboard" which is my only real complaint about this). Also, the word you're looking for at 3:12 may be "leitmotif." It's a musical theory that you can find in games like Hollow Knight (really great example, their songs are amazing and very clear-cut examples of a leitmotif - not all of them but you can tell which are) and more classical pieces where songs or melodies are derivative of a specific section of another song or melody. I would argue the top two uses for leitmotifs are either to build upon the original or (in this case) used as a callback (possibly to invoke a sense of familiarity or nostalgia).

Fun fact, Goldmask doesn't get bothered or offended if you "accidentally" hit him. He's but a projection, like every fucking thing in ER. Reloading the game will respawn him and continuing his quest normally. Of course that's pre Snow tops because he will take offense later on and will require a celestial dew.

That's not a meteor hitting the ocean, that's a maelstrom devouring a ship.

Hey just thought id mention it seems that the Erdtree is inspired by the myth of the of the old holy trees of Ireland which where all grown from the seeds of a branch bearing an apple, hazelnut and acorn on the slab at the base of the erdtree we can see a odd tree with a bulge where it is grafted from oak to another kind (looks like a barren hazel), with the eldenring being put into a v shaped gap between the oak and a second set of roots, which are mostly missing due there being a massive hole in the stone This appears to be showing the eldenring being grafted to the base of the “great tree” mentioned elsewhere, forming the erdtree

Yeah, I heard the woman humming in the Frenzy Flame when I first found it and it tripped me out! I wish I'd recorded it bc I swear it was clearer back then… And the writing on the map as someone else mentioned looks like Ogham for sure. I haven't looked into if it can actually be translated, but that's a good idea!

Happy birthday to naraka!! Favorite moment is how the runes on the map are a broken form of Chinese, the Yi dialect. It talks of sea monsters not in the game. Also this was uncovered before the game even released.

Happy Birthday, Naraka!! I Love EVERYTHING about this game! Just when I thought I had found all of the items & special hidden gems; I discovered the Bestial hidden area with talisman & weapon. This game is amazing, and my very 1st video game I have ever played in my 45 years of life. Lol 😂 Watching my son & hubby made me want to try it out, and it was the best decision ever. 💜

I always wondered if Gerhman's theme had any significance but so far I guess it's just an Easter egg. We'll see if the dlc does anything with this. As far as the giant empty hole in the map and other cloud areas on the map. I'm assuming that these will be DLC areas whether it's all released at once or separately or what the areas are remain to be seen. But some things they could be would be the bad lands where Godfrey was exiled to, areas miquella explored that we don't get to, or possibly new areas that rise in the age of the Stars from nokstella and other areas. Of course it's all speculation and nothing is confirmed. I'm leaning towards additional areas from nokstella and those that will open up after Ranni's ending. Seeing as how Nokstealla and them are underground and the areas just seem to be ocean only for now. It would make sense that since Ranni's ending is tied heavily to nokron and nokstella that these areas would rise out from under the ocean once you fulfill her destiny. Alternatively, these could also just be new areas that open based on what ending you choose I guess we'll see.

Those are just two similar melodic rhythms. Considering that the same composer worked on that song in bloodborne and on elden ring, such things are bound to happen. Not a connection that’s made between them. That would be something far more intentional and noticeable, like the actual melody.
