And then you see a foggy fucking scooby doo ass mansion with a bunch of headless dudes with fingers coming out. Just to face the most badass and eerie boss fromsoft has made to date. Id love to know more of Midras lore.
@leiderhosen71106 ай бұрын
Nanaya was connected to the Three Fingers and tried to raise a Lord of Frenzied flame, but they were too weak to absorb the Three Fingers, only their spine survived. She seems to have lead a group of scholars lead by Midra towards studying the flame in another attempt, and unlike most, he was able to retain his sense of self after he was infected as well as absorb a much higher dose of the Frenzy Flame than most. When the Hornsent discovered his research, and the nature of the Frenzy Flame and its power to destroy spirits, they sent the inquisition to eradicate them. Midra was executed by that sword, but as we can see he was too strong and could not die. Despite being in absolute agony he refused to give into the flame, and has been confined to his manor ever since. The player pushes him past the breaking point after suffering so long, and her gives up holding the flame back. As he did not absorb the Three Fingers he is not as powerful as we are in the LoFF ending, but he was closer than anyone to ascending, so he gains a partial transformation.

For a boss fight whose gimmick revolves around in-game madness, you're well rewarded for staying calm and just staying right in his face. His sword attack strings are slow, well-telegraphed, and there's only a few of them so they're easy to learn. His stagger threshold is extremely low. He can be parried. Staying in close against him means he can't spam his Frenzy spells which are meant to be used from medium or long range. Easy contender for best DLC boss fight along with Bayle and Messmer. Something about this fight feels a great deal more subdued than the other remembrance fights. While those are bombastic fights against skilled warriors and deadly beasts, Midra is just a man in a secluded part of the map who simply wants to be given peace after holding back the Frenzied Flame for years. Yes, Midra is the most fair boss fight in the DLC so far. Not too easy, not too hard. His attack are not that erratic and greatly telegraphed. And some of his FF moves are very deadly and can take more than half of your HP. Easily my Top 10 bosses for sure.

I'd say that Midra and Messmer are the best bosses in the DLC, the final boss on the other hand...
@DatAsianGuy6 ай бұрын
@@DaddySaddo The major issues with the final boss isn't that his moves are "unfair", at least most of them aren't, but not in the way you think. but the amount of visual clutter that can easily lead to your view of the boss being obstructed and therefore not being able to properly predict and react to whatever he does next. The amount of times where I lost sight of the boss, because of the light show or his "hair extension", I shall call it. is crazy. they need to do something about that. genuinely has cost me attempts. the rock sling to light-clone attack in the 2nd phase is truly evil, because the rocks flying at you obscure your vision of the boss while he goes into his next attack. By all means this is scummy, if you are not aware of that, you can easily die or lose a big chunk of your health. but overall, after learning his moveset, he becomes a lot easier to handle. I haven't beaten him yet, but so far I have gotten him down to like 1/6 of his health in all my attempts after figuring him out. (edit: I have beaten him, overall a good fight, but yeah, the bullshit elements suck, if you don't realize what happens)
@free_instructions22596 ай бұрын
@@DatAsianGuy oh yeah the rocksling in phase two is absolute bullshit. Only way you can consistently dodge it is by running far enough away so he doesn't do the follow up attack after flinging the rocks. While I wouldn't rank the actual fight itself among my top 5 (it is still really good, though), Midra definitely takes the cake in terms of pure crazy awesomeness. The design goes unbelievably hard, and the Bloodborne-esque theme music is phenomenal

Despite the insane pain, hunger, and thirst (this indicates how exhausted he was), he continued to maintain his sanity to the last.

His weapon was kinda upseting ngl, its just a sword with common sword move set and the skills it's not even Frenzied Flame related, it's more like sacred, the incantantion it's pretty cool, Sauron type shit there.

Why would it have frenzy its what he was impaled with by the hornsent. It also has the claymore poke and its ash of war can grab npc type enemies, I just wish it had longer range.
@poseidon33425 ай бұрын
@@pancakke08 they could've said it something like " In old times this was a holy weapon, but after the lord of frenzied flame touched it, the corruptions of the three fingers spread it out and now it's nothing more than a cursed spear by the flame of frenzy. " But I understand you, it's just my personal thought on it.

I prefer Elden Ring's lore/story over, well, every other fantasy story including LOTR and Dark Souls tbh. the lack of an ultimate evil is what makes it so interesting to me.
