My favourite part of Thiollier's hidden needle is that it gets skill priority in the offhand like shields. This, paired with its almost invisible model means you can keep it as a hidden weapon without needing to switch and you can pull the skill out of nowhere.

I remember when Chase did a Broken Straight Sword build for his weapon showcase in DS3, still slaughtered during invasions... probably still has the vod up. He is a monster at this lol. Next time he does a livestream (which can be rare) I recommend catching it. His experience doing invasions from DS1 till now has granted him essentially an instinctual understanding of the game mechanics ER is based upon. It's insane to watch live.

This is by far my most favorite moment from Chase. Chase is usually so good and so kind during PvP, easily my favorite invader to watch for elden ring, but seeing him make a mistake is so rare and kinda humbling to see honestly. Also his reaction is absolutely hilarious, laugh for at least a good 30 seconds.

If/when you get around to Smithscript weapons, I recommend running the shield and axe as a combo. Shield has solid range and tracking (actually defeated Gideon for the first time by spamming the weapon skill; he stayed stun locked for most of the fight and only got one shot off because most of his spells have a big windup), and the axe can pack a punch with both standard and charged R2s plus the jumping heavy is a throw which allows for a punish while jumping back when enemies get too close. They make quite the pair. The axe also power stances with other axes. So for example, even though Smithscript axe has a throwing heavy, Barbaric Roar still keeps it's heavy combo moveset so if you power stance the Highland Axe, you're also buffing the Roar. If opponents get used to the throwing heavies, let out a roar and you have a savage combo for heavy instead. Now the Highland axe is significantly longer than the Smithscript but the power stance moveset starts with an off hand swing and then forward momentum with the main hand so if you're close enough to hit with the Highland then the Smithscript shouldn't have trouble connecting too. And all that while still having access to throwing heavies. A cold infused Smithscript Hammer gets some pretty good frostbite buildup with its shot put style charged heavy. Idk if Storm Stomp is as effective at stunning in pvp as it is on Albinaurics but if you can stun close enough and the charged R2 off you can get some decent buildup into the throw. Plus access to a running heavy throw. And then maybe a Flame Smithscript Dagger in the off hand to reset frostbite. Idk, I think it's easy to sleep (no pun intended [but pun]) on Smithscripts as gimmicky but with some time and care, there's potential for some solid (and fun) build options.

I love being a dexterity main. We get some of the coolest weapons I swear. And there's nothing like DPS, fast status buildup, and quick recovery frames. Backhand blades, Falx, Katanas, it's all good. St Trina's sword and then switch to Thiollier's needle is probably deadly as well. Dex 4 Life.

Id love to see a sorcery build using Miriam's Vanishing. Sorceries specifically cancel the end lag of Miriam's so you can already be halfway through throwing out, say, Gavel of Haima or Adula's Moonblade as you reappear. It also breaks your opponent's lock on. I bet Chase would have fun with it
