That was an intense conversation 11:48 I think some people forget that Dalila was a formidable alpha female in her younger days, there's not many females that would initiate and maintain prolonged eye contact with a silverback. She's no easy pushover, she knows that the safest place for her and Makongo are by Lomako. He for his part needs to be more proactive, but in a calm and controlled manner. He'll learn, he's young and Dalila is a wise and great teacher. On a side note, watching Nana D schooling Zola was a treat. She was so over her shenanigans and she's still spritely when needed, I don't know who was more surprised me or Zola at the speed and ferocity of Dalila. 💖💖🦍

It seemed like they all were trying to intimidate Dalia at one time but she showed great resilience at her age. I know it has to be tiring. But silverback is young but not stupid. She’s pretty quick and fiesty when necessary. She wilol teach him well. She is the foundation and he has a lot to learn from her, am glad. @shawna6683 At 09:00, Dalila took the initiative to approach the silverback and sat down next to him, showing great goodwill and trust-perhaps they had already communicated about something. Lomako left for a while, and at 11:36, he walked over to Dalila. Perhaps he wanted to earn more opportunities to interact with the baby through his own efforts. You could see that Dalila didn’t pick up the baby and leave as she used to; instead, she calmly watched Lomako. Lomako was also very calm, as if he and Dalila had reached an understanding.

If Dalila is giving warning sounds then Lomako will react. Just like when the baby is really in distress the gorillas will react. Dalila has to be careful when the Makongo is looted. Just the other day,I saw a video of two females going at it and there goes the baby flying right out of her arms. A lot younger then Makongo but it happens.

So far, I haven’t seen Lomako mate with either Nala or Zola. However, Lomako often sniffs Nala, so maybe he has already picked up some scent from her. Nala doesn’t seem to like Lomako very much and isn’t very responsive to him. Zola is quite submissive in front of Lomako, but she doesn’t seem to have a scent yet.🤝♥️🦍

I find it interesting the behaviour of Loango and DJ other dad in Taiwan zoo DJ would Stopped what happened the other day with Mosi . The fact the Queen had to Encourage Loango do his duty both as father and as leader . Best way to try describe what am trying say Loango is an Old school man father (not saying he don’t love just finds hard to openly show it24/7)etc , DJ is the Modern day man a bit more soft and loving showing his emotions.

In such big environment- with mischievous gang & the structure is very complex and an elderly mom fostering a infant baby is really a big risk, once taken by them in their hands, it will be really hard for the elderly mom to take back from their hands and if unfortunate, worst nightmare may happen, makongo is still very young, till a certain age, will be good if they are seperated and given access very less period for the safety of both ..

Dalila is incredibly brave. Although she’s older, she remains The Queen. She will protect the baby, and the silverback Lomako will also protect his baby son. Make no mistake, the silverback is always watching - he lets the females handle their own issues, but if Makongo is in danger, he will step in. Dalila is actively involving the baby in family activities, which will help Makongo grow and thrive within the troop. Both Dalila and his sister Nala will be there to protect him at all times.

At Makongo's age, Dalila's protection is quite appropriate. Now that Dalila is willingly bringing the baby closer to the silverback, it shows that silverback Lomako has earned her trust. You can see that both Mosi and Nala are allowed to approach baby Makongo, but only Zola is kept at a distance.

I dont know jack about any type of animals but what about some type of enrichment for the other gorillas. They dont have anything to focus on but the baby. Im GUESSING in the wild the wild is their enrichment but they are in captivity with no where to go but a small space.I saw on another video where genki is they have this type of thing.

@@delphine88313 Yes! 🙂 One good thing is the monkeys are a form of enrichment. What I hope, considering two female gorillas dies of abscesses, which I read could be caused from pelvic inflamatiory disease among other causes, (it is also not uncommon among gorillas) that they screen and treat for stds which surely they must do when introducing new gorillas. Hopefully anyway. But something is up when two females within a few years die of abscesses. Sanga I think was Mosi's Mom? These guys have had a lot of loss lately. 💚
