Its important to remember the ones he rejects are the people led by boethiah, or the dunmer. Probably a contributing factor as to why hes seen negatively there. Its also important to remember he is ally to the spurned, not the common man. I could be remembering the wrong lord but he once had you hunt down the DESCENDANT of a guy who wronged a follower and had him killed. Additionally, he is patron to more than just orcs. Violent creatures such as ogres considered under his wing. I agree he isnt exactly evil but hes not really good either
@reviewthis1810 жыл бұрын
I've always found the story of the orcs to be sad, they do seem like a good people and Malacath seems like a very goo God. It is absurd that Boethia is considered a good dedra, yet the God who speaks for the outcasts is considered evil and on par with the God of destruction and the god of rape. Malacath is one of my favorite dedra

@@Theology.101 Well, it’s not like they get a good wrap from the other races to begin with to be honest. They’ve been considered animals by their brethren since their conception, religious beliefs and “survival of the fittest” mentality constantly bring tribes to fight one another (which is mostly because of him tbh), they get used for political might despite their best efforts to correct themselves into worshipping Trinimac (which is during ESO), then are considered animals until 40years before Morrowind. And mind you, Morrowind is 207 years before Skyrim...and still people see them as animals. But regardless of all this; Malacath continues to look after not only the Orcs, Orges and Reachmen but every person Spurned or Ostracized, even if they don’t believe in him. TLDR: Malacath is pretty chill despite being able to make Ghost Riders through The Bloody Oath (again shown in ESO)

How is Malacath seen as one of the evil Princes? There's a difference between evilness and hatred of enemies- he is the prince of the outcasts, and naturally has many enemies, as do his followers. I fail to see why a Daedric Prince who was evil would create a weapon which could potentially save the world many times from the wrath of his counterparts.

I am currently playing as an Orc and his backstory is that he was banished from his tribe due to him being labeled as "weak" so he made his way to Skyrim to try to get a better life, only for him to be caught up in the game events and becoming the Dragonborn. It's only when he met the cursed tribe and was noticed by Malacath and he proved himself to the Daedric Lord that he was indeed strong. So my Orc traveled across Skyrim and visited the other tribes and learned more from them and continued to become stronger. Bonus: I own the house in the swamp and named my Orc Shrek. He was named that since he was born the smallest in the bunch but now every tribe in Skyrim honors his name as Malacath's champion.

***** Well the Aedra did create mundus and Akatosh defeated mehrunes dagon at the end of oblivion so they could change a lot if they wanted...
@felixfeliciano701110 жыл бұрын
***** Akatosh was directly responsible for the dragonborn as it was he who blessed a mortal with a dragon soul. Kynareth gave them the Thu'um, or more specifically the ability to speak in the dragon tongue as dragons do. In the TES 4, there is a crusader DLC which had you questing all over Cyrodil in search of Aedric artifacts and the main quest line of Oblivion also required an Aedric artifact (or more specifically the blood of a divine). Aedric shrines are often simple and very rarely would one be able to speak with an Aedra as one would with a Deadra, but it is by visiting these shrines that diseases are cured and blessings bestowed - something Deadra seem to be incapable of doing. As for why they don't play a more direct role in the TES universe, it is explained away by saying that in the creation of the world, they sacrificed a great deal of their power, which weakened them greatly. However, it is a very common cliche in fantasy games that the "good aligned" gods play a very indirect role in mortal's lives. They are very hands off and when they do interfere, it is usually in the way of bestowing great gifts of power to mortal heroes. The "evil aligned" gods on the other hand, try their best to play as direct a role as they can, seeing themselves as the only ones worthy of rule or worship. They do not always manifest themselves on the mortal planes but they do send their minions to do their work - something that the good gods almost never do. It isn't that Aedra prefer stasis. Indeed Kynareth and Akatosh changed the balance of power on Nirn when they gave mortals the edge they needed to defeat dragon-kind. Deadra are also not always beings of change as Malacath, Jyggalag, Molag Bal and even Mehrunes Dagon are pretty consistent in how they deal with things. They either want things to act in a very specific way (Malacath and Jyggalag) or they just want to rule over everything (Molag Bal and Mehrunes Dagon). It is worth noting that while the Deadra often have similar goals... they more often than not, work against each other rather than with each other, where as the Aedra are all fairly united (or at least worshipers believe them to be). That is often another common fantasy cliche. Otherwise, I do agree with you. Deadra are far more "interesting" than their Aedra counterparts, but it is a bit more debatable who are more "important."
@playlistnation200510 жыл бұрын

There was one story I remember being fond of when I was playing Skyrim, but I hardly remember anything about it. I don't even remember if it was canon lore or introduced in a mod I have, but it was a very sad story and I'm hoping someone else who knows it can remind me what it's called so I can find it again. Basically, it's about an honorable orc warrior who was widely considered good and righteous, even to those who normally spurn the orcs. Somehow or another, a Daedra wants to corrupt him and take his soul. I'm not sure what Daedra it was. It might have been Sheogorath. Anyway, the other Daedra wants to take this orc's soul away from Malacath, who takes great pride in this orc's accomplishments and considers him one of his best children. So that Daedra, again Sheogorath rings a bell here, makes a bet with Malacath that if he can get his favorite servant to commit a damnable offense, he gets to take the warrior's soul. So he tricks the orc into killing another orc, a woman. This of course, is a damnable offense and Malacath has no choice to relinquish the poor orc's soul to the other Daedra, and it ends with that Daedra decapitating the orc warrior and carrying his still alive, weeping head into his realm in Oblivion Anybody know what I'm talking about here?

when he says malacath's realm came into existence when malacath did is partially correct, since deadric realms are created by, in personality and likeness resemble, and are contained within their respective deadric lord. when you go to a deadric realm you are essentially entering that deadric lord. this is why oblivion is so different from nirn, instead of being an independent dimension they are actually a part of the deadric lord. this creation of realms within themselves is how they get around the fact that making something like mundus consumes the creators power.

DuskyPredator Interestingly enough, this is not an easy question to answer. TES lore says that Ogres are "Malacath's Creatures" but they don't really go on to say that Malacath created them or merely that, Ogres being a generally disliked species, they are considered outcasts and thus fall under Malacath's sphere of influence. This question has been asked before and it is a good question to ask. Bethesda simply hasn't supplied an answer for it yet. Considering that Ogres (and Ogrim for that matter) were only encountered in a small part of the TES single player games, they simply didn't feel the need to really expand upon them. Perhaps there will be more lore about them in ESO since they are mobs in that game?

I find it amusing that it's theorized that all the daedra in the house of troubles were originally something or someone else: Molag Bal was a Dreugh king, Malacath was Trinimac, Sheogorath was Jyggalag, Mehrunes Dagon was the Leaper Demon King. The last one is not mentioned in-game, however, as far as I am aware, thus it couldn't be counted as canon.

Trinimac will always be a part of Malacath. Though threw Boethiah's proving that; actions speak louder than words, what we know as our Heros or Enemies can and will change. I love that Trinimac had the chance to fight and attack Boethiah in human form. What an Honor. Long Live Elder Scrolls!

Honestly if the orcs followed Trinimac - a banner of strength, honor and unity. They could be something else bigger than just living spread out in tiny strongholds. Can't wait for the Rise of the Orcs some day in the lore.

I think the transformation is literal, he was eaten and then spat out transformed.

Interesting how Volendrung's appearance has changed since Morrowind/Oblivion. Now it has a distinct, rough, jagged & brutish appearance. Perfectly fits the Orc archetype.

I really hope you guys get the chance to do an episode on Mephala. I find her/him to be one of the more interesting Daedric Princes

Great job I like this series so much ;) ! I wonder if that other artifact is a part of a mod or is it really possible to find in the vanilla game,I mean the Scourge the one handed mace.And I think that Malacath could be the Trinimac's other side the evil side, because when Boethiah killed Trinimac she/he probably devoured (with his body) his soul as well,at least the good parts and left only the darkness and sorrow,also the anger but the evil anger I dunno I would like to hear more theories and stuff,anyway GREAT job guys keep the series rollin' :D !

Ya guys should do an episode about Isgramor where you talk about the 500 companions and then make one about the Snow elfs/Falmer.

hey shoddycast i was wondering if you ever plan on doing a few lore chapters about the dragonpriests and miraak...ik alot of ppl have done lore about them, but id like hear it from you. also no one has talked about krosis so if you can find stuff on him and talk about it id love it. that and miraak and his acolytes.

Probably one of the few Daedric Princes worthy of worship.

It's pretty clear that Malacath's status as one of the Four Corners of the House of Troubles is weirdly fitting in regards to strength; Malacath clearly loathes weakness, and the Dunmer recognize that.

at first my most hated daedric prince was molag bal then i learned about trinimac becoming malacath now my most hated daedric prince is boethiah
@nowan62214 жыл бұрын
Both are equally evil. Molag Bal is a giant rapist piece of dung while Boethiah is a cheater and a deceiver that will probably backstab it's champions someday.

I'd love it if you'd do the lore in the first games, such as arena and daggerfall, since i doubt many have played them or will play them.
@shadowpower6910 жыл бұрын
Malacath is a neutral god what with his sense of honor. Also, Scourge? A powerful artifact for *banishing* daedra? Only a truly evil being would create something like that...
