Eldritch Horror is one of my favorite solo games for sure. I own everything, but I just finished off this box a few weeks ago. I enjoy playing through it at my own pace and occasionally my wife will play as well.

Awesome! Love playing it solo and it's even great at higher player counts. Scales very well. However, it's typically better to play with even number of 'investigators'. A handful of the object cards require you collect tokens based on half the investigators rounded up. So if you play three people and three investigators you're potentially putting yourself at a disadvantage from the start! Better to each take two investigators in that case. Planning on playing against Hastur tonight with the weekly game group. Wish us luck! I have a feeling we're going to need it haha

@@RollingSolo Haha good luck! Took us a few tries IIRC.

@@RollingSolo while that's true it does make epic monsters a tad easier. Because it's usually players + 2. So at least with 3 they take one less hit. When I play with my partner we play as 2 investigators each. We tried 3 each but it was a bit messy with the size of table we have to keep track of everything. The odd time I've played it solo I play as 3 though and find it really good.

I usually dont like playing solo, but i love all your game reviews!! Keep it like this! Btw, can you make a top 8 of eldritch horror expansions?
@RollingSolo5 жыл бұрын
Hey Mariano! That would be fun to do when I get through them all. A bit over half way now. Thanks for the suggestion! :)

I think I've got this expansion; I only picked up the ones that don't have drastic changes to gameplay like sideboards and whatnot. I really need to get this one back onto my table, though. I haven't played it nearly as much as I should. Also, I sent you an email, Adam. It might have gone into your Spam, though.
@RollingSolo5 жыл бұрын
Hey Armaan! It's one that always finds it way back to the table about one a month and a half or so. I'll look for that email, I didn't see it come through! Cheers :)

I love EH, I have the three first big expansions and the decks have become huge! Not sure if more expansions are needed. That ancient one looks interesting thow.

So much fun hey? I had to ditch an insert because of the massive amount of cards I need to store row by row now. I have a bit over half of the content and there are still more sets. This is one I plan to get all of over time. Still love it! I think with the last released one that it could be nearing the end with the campaign mode it added. But I don’t know if all the investigators have been released or not yet. Do you?
@hubyxreds41775 жыл бұрын
@@RollingSolo Oh yeah, my copy lives in two boxes. In the original box is the scenario related stuff and in the Mountains of Madness box is the rest. No insert. I believe that the Masks expansion marked the end of EH, I might get Masks but this will be my last one. The only thing I don't like about the expansions is that my setup and shuffling time has increased a lot, but the replayability is better than ever, I hardly encounter the same item or mythos cards. Also the expansions mix very well with each other.

A great game with loads of replayability. Mythos cards, always bad lol. I love the way your characters appear in all the different games, thanks Fantasy Flight. Hopefully in the future you might find the time to show us a playthrough, cheers Adam.

That would be a lot of fun. I think this one would play well on camera. We’ll see what the future holds!

Hey Adam; Off topic question :) ; I'd like to get into another dungeon crawler which plays well solo & 2 player. I boiled it down to 2 options, sword & sorcery or shadows of brimstone. I was part of the latest S&S ks and now on the fence on the new SoB ks. My dilemma; getting the curent S&S releases in retail, being able to dive in and enjoy it while waiting for the S&S delivery of new stuff or backing SoB advanture sets now. Where are your thoughts on these 2 systems? Who is it for? Why choose one over the other? Thanks for sharing your thoughts!
@RollingSolo5 жыл бұрын
Hey Philippe! Tough one there. Imo they offer two different styles of a dungeon crawler experience. With S&S the amount of money involved is much much much less, campaign is linear and you follow it quest by quest. There is choice involved and you can shape your character and some choices during the campaign. Basically it’s a much tighter experience but could be called ‘on the rails’ in terms of a campaign. The map is preset. Rules are also more complex initially to grasp. Still have it and enjoy it! Shadows of Brimstone is a monster. Even more than KDM. It’ll cost you a kidney in order to catch up completely (if want it all, which you don’t need to do). Shadows of Brimstone out of the box has scenarios / campaign play you run from the book, the difference in play style is true exploration and the unknown. The more you have the more random and unknown the locations, enemies and events will hit you. It’s adventure at its finest. It’s also completely fog of war. So you have no idea how the area is going to turn out. There is more randomness but that is what keeps me coming back for more. No idea what the game will throw at you. If you were to compare the two as is, I’d say they’re dead even and depends on your budget, which theme you want more and mechanics. Where I think SOB tips the scale and is better than S&S is due to an amazing fan made ‘HexCrawl variant’ on BGG in the files section of the original base game. It’s truly one of the best variants I’ve ever seen and was a labour of love. It adds amazing campaigns, adds way more content and in my opinion is 100 times better than how the rulebook explains its campaign system. Highly advise you check it out. I personally love the Mine Blast campaign. With both in retail you could go either way in this. Tough call comes down to KS delivery times, whether you want it right away and your budget. That is all up to you. If someone twisted my arm and I had to choose one. I’d go SOB. Both aren’t leaving my collection though. I enjoy them both for different reasons as explained above haha Hope this helps!

@@RollingSolo Did you have a look at SoB latest KS, Shadows of Brimstone Adventures? Including the current already unlocked SG's; would you say there is enough content there to get the full experience? Thanks!

Frankly speaking, surprised to see it here. I thought that AH 3ED is the current go-to when it comes to adventure Lovecraft board games. Do you feel like tha base game of AH has some stuff "cut-off" like it has been in the past with Eldritch?
@RollingSolo5 жыл бұрын
I didn’t feel like AH had that feeling. However, I’m really interested in comparing AH against EH once more content comes out for AH. Eldritch is still a staple imo for solo gaming. Both games have their place. :)

Was thinking of buying into Eldritch Horror, then FFG released Arkham Horror 3rd edition, got it instead, Eldritch Horror keeps itching at my brain cells, so does Mansions Of Madness, hopefully FFG release a AH 3rd edition expansion soon. That would calm that itch. I am sure the cultists are running the show at FFG, I’m going insane trying to keep up and decide what next.
