The big boxes don't add a lot more to the game besides the extra boards (when compared to the small box expansions). Also for those that don't know what the focus action is and would rather get this expansion than Strange Remnants: The focus action can be chosen to get a reroll token you can use later. You can only keep up to 2 of these tokens, so focussing beyond that point won't get you anything.

This is the only Eldritch Horror expansion I hadn't bought up over the years, but was considering it now that my kids are starting to play & my friends & I picked up the new Call of Cthullu RPG last month & we dealt with cult of Hastor. Thanks for the great show&tell; I think I'll go get it :)

Jenny is a fun character to play, the removing debt and shopping is surprisingly fun.

This is among my favourite games. I own all the expansions and enjoy the content they all add. Also... Dude, that recurring scene where you just dump out the contents all over the table in a messy pile just hurts me lol. I get the joke, but.....ouch hehe

I removed some of the cards that cause impairment in my game (from pyramids as well), I mean, getting all your skills impaired is way worse than getting devoured as you basically rendered useless. It makes the game no fun to fail everything. Some impairment is fine, but not too much.

Yeah, but removing those cards means you're missing out on those neat little story vignettes and the extra variety they offer. Try this house rule which prevents a character's stats from declining past their base values: When you are forced to impair a skill, you only remove an existing Improvement token. If there is no Improvement token on the skill, then treat the result as a straight up loss of 1 Health and 1 Sanity instead of placing an Impairment token.

Eldritch Horror for me is an Essential game for a gateway gamer. lots of bang for the buck.

This game is so dense, that I wouldn't ever consider it gateway. Its delightful but its not a game I would throw at people who hadn't played a few other designer board games and decided they enjoyed the narrative style of game.
