This week, Newslaundry’s Abhinandan Sekhri, Raman Kirpal and Anand Vardan are joined by Dhanya Rajendran, co-founder of The News Minute.
On electoral bonds, and the Trinamool Congress being its second-largest recipient, Anand says, “One factor [which determines this] is which party is seen as remaining in power for more time. Power magnets in a region.”
The panel then discusses the seat-sharing arrangements for the Lok Sabha polls. In Tamil Nadu, Dhanya says the BJP has “almost sidelined the AIADMK” and has become “confident of forming an alliance in Tamil Nadu without the party, which was not possible five or 10 years ago”.
Talking about the Adani group funding the Ramnath Goenka Awards, Abhinandan says, “It’s complicated. For new journalists, it is a motivating factor, it builds morale.” Raman says it’s okay to receive awards funded by conglomerates as long as they do not interfere in the outlet’s coverage. He adds that The Indian Express’s coverage of the Hindenburg Research report accusing Adani group of stock manipulation was “relentless”.

Anand vardhan is very intelligent particularly in matters concerning law & policy. However his verbal communication skill is hazy, somehow breaking the flow of the listener. Not complaining , just saying. 😊

What is the point? Even if tomorrow we announced a live televised event called "Ghoos Samaroh" where some of our most prominent industrialists would be seen handing the ruling party big bags of cash and in return, being handed contracts, even then the ruling party would win all elections. Simply because the "Ghoos Samaroh" would start with Ganesh puja, be held at Ram temple in Ayodhya. In addition to that they will pay an anti-Muslim cess. Arnab and all the Godi media would commentate on how this is a brilliant masterstroke by our dear leader because ... well it just is. They will also make a few mean-spirited jokes about Pappu and lie about how great the party is. I only wonder how this will change?

It's not 6000 crores as of now it's 8000 crores. And still cash donations are received by parties if you don't know that fact. The problem here is not getting donations, the problem here is what favours are being done in return and how these donations are received and at what time. Most of them are received after IT, ED, CBI raids. Many tenders and projects are given to those. I don't know about other states but TN the major part of the money was received from the so called lottery king and I think you don't know that lottery is banned in TN and govt of TN doesn't approve online betting games so that company has not received any favour. Still saying that bjp is not corrupt. Andhbhakths will never change. Even when facts are produced, you choose to believe fakes. All the best.
