@Weedbringer666

Hey, hope you're doin alright. I recently crafted a 4-strings sub contrabass guitar that goes down to D0 for a stoner band I play in. They loved the sound of my original sub contrabass build so much in rehearsal, I decided to make one especially for them, and also to make it easier to play with octaves. The tuning is D0 - A0 - D1 - A1 (I call it double-drop). I also made a music video where I play it together with my 8-strings with a drop D tuning (D-A-D-G-C-F-A-D) : kzbin.info/www/bejne/gKaWZIuEac6esJo and the result is awesome. The hardest part was to tinker an adequate guitar sound. Recently, I ordered a real sized coffin-shaped box to start building a huge custom cab, with two speakers that have a frequency response that goes below 15Hz. That won't happen till the end of this year tho, because those things are expensive as hell. But with this, I will be able to reach the full potential of infrabass. That's something people never heared before. And that's thanks to you. So I wanted to thank you once again, for the inspiration you gave me to make this projet a reality, despite everyone taking me for a fool.

Is there any difference between using a drop tuning pedal and using these super downtunned basses in terms of tone? My wallet doesn't have nuff to even afford the kalium 200-ish gauge bass strings and I'm really looking forward on the idea of getting digitech's drop pedal so I can have my bass in various different tunnings in a matter of seconds which I found very cool!
@darkxdevill6662
@darkxdevill6662 5 жыл бұрын
When I use the Drop on my basses the quality of tone gets worse per 2 steps, the lowest I could go while still sounding okayish is C Standard. Maybe there's a way to balance it out but I didn't figure it out. I'd recommend to test it in a guitar store with your bass on a similar Amp and see if you are satisfied ✌️😁

I made a six string bass kit and I accidentally bought fender electric six strings and they fit on my 35 inch scale bass. It can be standard tuned but it's a djenty boy. You should Try making one from a doublebass body ,jazz bass circuitry, a custom built neck that's 60 inch scale from nut to bridge, with 3 5ft piano strings and a 7 friction tuners system.for best results needs a subwoofer that can run at 16 hz. The octobass needs to be brought back from near extinction and obscurity.

@brokentiles
@brokentiles 5 жыл бұрын
When using an eBow on a standard or whole-step-down five string in the past, I got more of the upper harmonics popping out than the tonic. Often the feel was an octave or two higher inverted fifth chord. Not very useful as a traditional root down bass role. That being said, the 8-bit or psychedelic fuzz or doomy sound could be used as a different kind of instrument. The even lower tuning you're using here verifies this for me. Movie soundtracks, ambient track introductions, electronic dance music, even.

Octave4Plus makes a High C5 String that'll work on Guitars with a scale length of 25.5 in. & smaller. Octave4Plus says that you have to be gentle when tuning that super tiny high C5 String up to C5 cause you don't want it to hurt your eyes if it breaks so wear safety eye protection.
