Lithium is the best element for store energy they know at the moment. Thats the big problem, more energy or longer distance means more weight and slower car. First you must find a new chemical element on the planet that will store more energy like Lithium. A 500kg litihum accu have the same energy like ca. 40kg fuel.

If it's anything like the RC cars I used to race, it could either be introduced by heat in the motors, or more likely, a battery saving feature. Heat robs electric motors of power, and a lot of it. Without knowing the battery technology in the car off hand, it could go either way. I do know that with Hybrid racing cars, if you lose that battery power, you lose your acceleration power. Stands to reason it's a battery saving feature intended for longer runs. Notice it was able to hit 260kph after heavy braking which is regenerative on most hybrids and electric cars. I see electric cars more as 1:1 scale RC vehicles - They use the same concepts and principles, just different technologies and larger parts. If you found a 1:10 scale VW ID.R RC car, 27kph would be the correct scale speed. Though, who wants an RC that does 27kph? 160kph is where it's at. (Rough estimating, I'm from the US so my speed conversion is a little off-center from what it should be; the Traxxas XO-1 RC is capable of 100mph out of the box with option components; I believe a 6s LiPo battery and a massive brushless electric motor and highly durable Electronic Speed Controller to match the car's size and power; the XO-1 is actually roughly 1:7.5 scale.

241 kph on the long straight, those batteries must have been COOKING! They could do 270 earlier in the lap. With more time to build it, and with 2024 tech, it would be MUCH light and more powerful. Porsche could retrofit their 919 Evo probably, the batteries would not need to be very large after all. Half a Rimac Nevera pack would be good for up to 957 hp, probably enough for a run like this. The full Taycan pack is a bit heavy and would enable three pretty fast laps or about four at GT3 pace. Borrow motors from Lucid or Koenigs egg, they make them light and superlight respectively.

Maybe some "more" hydraulic Aero losing some downforce on the long straight - I do not know much about this car so I can't say how adaptable the aero is. But it was doing more like 253 Km/H on a part on the first section, so perhaps the batteries was somewhat drained at then end straight - idk?. But darn the corners speeds are nuts.

notice in the first 1.5 minutes it was easily accelerating up to 250-260 kph and topping out at 270 kph. By 3 minutes in, climbing up the long valley, it was surprisingly max at only 250 kph and then on the last long straight it was stretching to keep in the 245-250 kph... this record will be short lived once they can achieve 100% output for an entire lap.
@juanca11665 жыл бұрын
That can be for battery power decreasing maybe?
@99Lezard995 жыл бұрын
you can see at the end of the lap, it allready lost some power. it went 250kph through kesselchen and klostertal wich is quite a climb and it barely went 250kph on the döttinger höhe wich is far less of a climb. guess it would need recharging after only 1 lap to perform on its best abilitys. also the chassis came from norma and the engines also arent by vw....not that this isnt an achivement but yeah not as revolutionary as they would like us to belive.

top speed only 270km/h😹🤣 crappy electric motor sound😹🤣 electric "cars" need long time to resuply battery so it's crap 😹🤣
@Dracuz1235 жыл бұрын
Yes it lost power, but its not cause of low batteries. The reason behind this is that the batteries overheat and therefor the car reduces power. Also can be seen in teslas when driven at topspeed.

The top speed of the car is limited compared to pikes peak because of the elevation... The Nordschleife runs at around 300-600m in altitude, meaning the air is very dense. Pikes Peak starts at about 2800m, and ends at about 4300m, meaning the air the car has to push through is a lot less dense at Pikes Peak than at the Nordschleife. On top of this, an electric car doesn suffer the severe loss of power when nearing the top of the course, so it has it's full power throughout the entire run!
@swagster4life415 жыл бұрын
It also seems like they adjusted aerodynamics. which would probably be useful, because of altitude difference.
