Love your Videos. They are so informative. I use to work with my Dad who was an electrician and the biggest compliment I can pay you is you remind me of his attention to detail, safety and doing it right and not cut corners. Great Job. I can see you are master at your craft.

Question regarding the bonding for the 4 points. If the above ground pool is a resin pool which nothing is metal. What exactly do you have bond besides the skimmer? Do you just bond the wall connection joint which is metal?
@electricianron_New_Jersey Жыл бұрын
Exactly. Bonding doesn’t have to be complicated. If it can be energized than it has to be bonded.
@20bluezl17 Жыл бұрын
Ok so only the wall bar connection, skimmer and pump. Does the #8 have to still go around the pool?
@realitycheck74 Жыл бұрын
@@20bluezl17 if my interpretation or knowledge of pool bonding is correct, I would say to try and picture it like and underground force field or grid/perimeter that protects anything within the inside of the binding ring in essence. That’s why they are recommended to be 18-24 inches away from the pool. It’s like your standing on protected ground sorta. You can also make additional ring around you pump/filter setup for protection as long as it is all linked together. Just my opinion, not gospel or telling you what to do. Hope my explanation helps. Let me know. Thanks! Good luck!

If a pool heater has two lugs for connecting the 8 AWG copper wire to, if I was to connect a new saltwater generator, could I just connect it to the second empty lug on the heater? Or does it have to be the same lug that has the current copper wire that attaches the pump to the heater?? Thanks!!!

@electricianron_New_Jersey2 жыл бұрын
GREAT question! Actually, UF wire is not permitted unless the equipment grounding is insulated. I've never seen any but I'm not saying it doesn't exist. The main requirement is the insulated equipment grounding conductor for pool circuits.

Question, are the easy connectors required on each conduit?
@hippo-potamus2 жыл бұрын
How do you VERIFY you actually have equipotential voltage across all bonded components? 1) how do you test the main panel earth voltage as a reference point and 2) how do you subsequently verify all bonded structures read the same voltage ?
@electricianron_New_Jersey2 жыл бұрын
The purpose of the equipotential bonding grid is to eliminate any voltage gradients around the pool. The grid is connected to the pool pumps equipment grounding conductor. This circuit is GFCI-protected. If as much as 6 milliamps of current flows on the equipotential bonding grid the GFCI circuit breaker will trip, thus saving someone's life if they happen to be in the swimming pool.
@hippo-potamus2 жыл бұрын
@@electricianron_New_Jersey Ah. That makes sense. So basically just make sure all your bonding connections are solid and run the pool equipment off of a dedicated gfci protected circuit. Thanks for the informative reply. -Cheers mate.
