Here's a tour of the latest cars and projects we've got in the workshop. From Ferrari to Fiat 500, we've got a real eclectic bunch of classic cars getting converted to electric at the moment. It's a full house as always in the workshop this month:

To answer your questions I think the legendary 1980s GMC Vandura from the A team as a move car to covert to Fully wild 450hp tesla and secondly a car to have fun in the dunes with would have to be a dakar rally style citroen 2cv with big BFG MT and wide body and even wider stance.

A really good tv series vehicle you could do, would be KITT from the 1980s series Knight Rider. If you installed a sound system, you could simulate the turbine sound KITT had throughout the series. 😁

Tamiya Sand Scorcher is the one you were thinking of! They've "remade" that kit, so you can get a new one these days, for about £275 without electrics.

Excellent workshop tour, Richard. Thank-you. You've triggered some ideas, which might appeal to you. I love the custom number plate on the Baja Bug. That's clever. How about converting a 2CV? They're off-road capable, quirky, easy to access, and great fun to drive. And there's always the Morris 1000, which could also become a beach buggy. [Says the imp in me.] I'd like to see a Ford Mustang, or a Dukes of Hazzard Charger converted. Just for fun, if you could find one which still has more metal than rust, a [Thora Hird 'Last of the Summer Wine'] Ford Herald would be surprising. They have the advantage that all major panels bolt onto a chassis. I believe it was the last mass-produced British car with a chassis. Another great one for conversion would be a 1980's TVR. Might I suggest that you have a word with Ian Seabrook [Hub Nut] for a car to convert? He lives not too far away from you, and has latent lust for EV's. His funds are limited, but I'm sure that he could supply or at least suggest, a project car for you. And the Aston Martin V8 could be called a Voltage, a V Spark, or a V-E.

I love your videos! Something I’ve been wondering about is how these converted cars would fare in a collision. For example, with a battery box where the engine would normally be, would these be crushed in the event of a forward collision? Do you use pyro fuses that are triggered in an accident? Did I see a Countach sitting on the shelf up there?? WOW that would be insane, would love to see that one. Also, for a popular but rarer classic, I would suggest a DKW 3=6. No more hard polluting 2T engine, and the challenge of doing a FWD.

For building kits you really should look into the “Triumph Sports Six”. Essentially cars based on the Herald I.e : Herald, Spitfire, GT6, Vitesse, Bond Equipe and “Specials” (Amphicar). They are all of similar size and overall make up and offer amazing motor access. There are lots of off the shelf upgrades to save weight (aluminum and fiberglass parts) and increase stability (poly bushings , dampers etc) I have ridden in a converted Spitfire and it is great fun!
