This very good review was released over a year ago now and I've just watched it again and it's very accurate and informative after watching other reviews, just one obvious mistake though, it does say Formentor on the car in two very clever places that many viewers are now aware of. I take delivery of my VZ2 310 model tomorrow. WOW!

Great Review. Test drove the exact same one yesterday and what a fun PHEV to drive. Ordered one this morning. Great car especially for the specs you get with it. That fake in-cabin sound actually adds to the fun even though you know, it's fake 😀😀

The problem of this nice E-Hybrid is ... his brother, the 310hp version. That is so goooood, 0-60mph around 4.31sec acording to carvow. Amazing and with brembo brakes, and a very good suspension and lot of details. So .... a ecological sticker and some fun or lot of fun? 🤔
@Freakymonify2 жыл бұрын
Except you don't always want or need lots of fun all the time. Sometimes you need to get to and from work every day without paying out the ass for petrol, when you're tired and just want a comfortable space to travel. However you can't afford a second lots of fun car so you're left with a choice. I think this is an excellent mix which makes it the better version of the two if you live in the real world.
@neilbrookes40093 жыл бұрын
What is it with the infotainment system? It's slated all the time. I own a VZ Edition Formentor and i rarely need to touch the screen. All the control i need is on the steering wheel. Temp set to 20 degrees? check. Driving mode in individual? check. Favourite radio station on? Check. If i want a bit of fun, press and hold the CUPRA button, CUPRA mode engaged. Bored of that, press and hold it again, Individual mode re-engaged. How many options do you need to mess with when you are driving?

Good review of an interesting car, though I wouldn’t consider one. Going from BEV to PHEV would be a backward step and my relatively modest e-Niro can also surprise with a push of the ‘sport’ button...sans fake engine noise.

@@112deeps The Range Rover Evoque are shite nothing but trouble. In fact it finished last in reliability in family suv category in what car. Land rover as a brand are garbage and have been for years.
@112deeps3 жыл бұрын
@@onepunch9, yes wouldn't buy one soon. If in next 24 months reliability improves dramatically might consider on shortlist. The reviews of the hybrid power train is good. Mini countryman better bet as 4 wheel drive hybrid or if can afford it X5 45e hybrid even better with almost 54 miles ev only range.

@@112deeps i wouldn't waste my hard earned cash on any land rover or range rover they've been shit for years even ford couldn't help them. To be honest i would waste my money on a hybrid either until they vastly improve. Once electric runs out your left with a heavy uneconomical car. Just a gimmick.
@112deeps3 жыл бұрын
@@onepunch9, its strange jaguar part of land rover has respectable reliability while land rover is in the lower scale. Regarding hybrid yes in real life best to go full electric. I do have 5 y old A3 etron hybrid on average 70% of journey was in electric (range 23 to 28 miles ev only) & 30% on fuel use... They are getting better i would consider 40 miles ev only hybrid. But prefer smaller cars for parking. Probably kia or Hyundai or toyota with peace of mind long warranty better.

Great video. Really considering this car - however, would have loved some sound from the outside. I dont know much about cars, know that Teslas sound like vacuums but this Formentor, being a hybrid, if you put it into Cupra and throttle it - does it make any sounds, or hor does that work? :D

Switched off at the price. Sorry, but this is another car pitched at company lease or PCP subscription. However, that said, it's better looking than its cousins, and I reckon the spin-off Cupra brand will do very well. Try asking for a base-spec unoptioned car, for comparison. That is if the makers have them for review, or actually dare produce one without admitting that maybe £2-3k really has to be spent on extras to keep the 'guaranteed future value' right on that PCP! (Looking at you, iD.4)

I know, in theory, PHEVs are designed as a transitional car from ICE to full BEV... And that their natural sales demographic is your average company car driver, due to their considerably lower BIK ratings... But, then the raging cynic in me comes to the surface and thinks, "I wonder just how many company car drivers actually bother to charge them up every night? And I wonder if that initial 30 or so miles of electric-only range is enough to counter the 'other' 100+ miles a day they travel, in an automatic gearbox car, with a heavy battery and a small, likely straining petrol engine?" Whilst I can't find any comparison info for this particular model, a few BMW330e drivers online have suggested that that car does about 40+mpg when hauling around an empty battery. Compare that to the otherwise typical rep-mobile BMW 320d at around 55mpg. Based on when I was a rep, I probably averaged around 600 per 5-day week. So, the BMW330e would do 150 (30 x 5) of those miles on electric, then the remaining 450 miles at about 40mpg = 11.25 gallons of fuel equivalent to 169g/km of CO2 The BMW320d would do the whole 600 miles at 55mpg = 10.9 gallons of fuel at 105g/km CO2 according to BMW. So, as with the whole "I want an aerodynamically inefficient SUV, because it makes me look impressive and stuff the environmental impact of me using more fuel", so these un-charged PHEVs hacking up and down the UK motorway network will no doubt prove to be more environmentally damaging in real world conditions, simply because of the apathy of the majority of business drivers.
@GillmanStudio3 жыл бұрын
Questions that are on my mind as the two cars mentioned are on my shortlist. The 330e and this one. As far as 'will I charge it'? absolutely and I like to think most would. For me I also do school runs before that daily drive and it means I get the vast majority of my weekly private mileage which at present I repay my company for, cheaper, so there is a real benefit. But the main benefit is HALF the annual company car tax bill, I will pocket over £2000 compared to the economical Superb 2.0d I drive right now. Now I have seen the BIK savings its hard to even consider the oil burners I have been driving for 20 years.

@derekfinnegan7342 жыл бұрын
@@spankythemonkey7446 I did. I was very lucky, the garage at a few close to how I would have specced one up, so mine was actually in build when I ordered. The only thing I’d have changed was the paint colour, so that’s not bad. I’ve a Midnight Black (I’d have gone Dark Camouflage or Magnetic Tech if I had the choice, but black is fine too.) Really enjoying the Cupra. It is one of the most responsive cars I’ve ever owned. Spun the wheels a few times. The infotainment took a bit of getting used to, but I spent a good amount of time just learning the menus and setting up my preferences. I don’t have to take my eyes off the road anymore. Plus, with wireless CarPlay and the voice commands, that makes things even better. I did have an issue, where an emissions warning light came on after 2 months, and again at 4 months. There was no change to the power delivery, but it required a trip to the service department. The first time, a sensor was replaced under warranty. The garage was a bit stumped why it lit again at month 4. Currently, all is well. The PHEV suits me well.
