This is a real nice toy, maybe can be used as a tool also, nice quality and well built, even can be used with many other different lenses... Very happy I got it to experiment.... ;) Cheers, Pierre

That's cool especially since it even comes with software that allows angle and distance measurement, like you say it appears to have basic optical comparator ability. I was considering a portable old school overhead projector that was on sale at the local second hand store for 60 bucks, but after seeing that camera I'm thinking that I'll pass on the projector and save some shekels for something like what you're using there. Looking long-term, my vision is good now but now that I'm over 40 it's not guaranteed from here on to be good . . . Thanks for sharing!

I'm glad I got this microscope, the quality is way higher than the cheaper one I already got, it's not just for when you lost partial sight, also great for anything that you need to see close-up, as an example, you can spot the tinyest spec of dirt or break or detect wear before you could even imagine... Cheers, Pierre

nice camera. I asume it is manual focus but can it do focus peaking?
@pierresgarage26875 жыл бұрын
Like you say it's manual focusing, I don't believe there is any option for electronically altering or modifying the focus, on this camera the image is really neat and clear, better that you'll see on KZbin that will compress the data in order to save space...

thanks for the elaborate review. very useful. i hope, they supply it with an hdmi monitor in a compact package, with reduced pricing :)

The HDMI monitor is better purchased locally, even a used one would be a prefered option. Chineses get good shipping rates on small packages, don't seem to be the case on bigger shipments...

I have the lower resolution one myself and HATE IT.. Seriously thinking of getting this one or the higher resolution models.. You sold me on it Plus I have a way of recording it in 4:2:2 pro Rez (gotta love Atomos) subscribing .. Thanks
@pierresgarage26873 жыл бұрын
Just like you say, the lower resolution scope isn't much good for recorging good images. My opinion on it is that the video chips used on it are real crappy. On the orher hand for the higher resolution unit, they use as a base some kind of a CCTV body with the required adaptors in order to make a good macro photography camera. In my opinion it's worth the extra money if you require good resolution enlargements. Atomos system is a great monitor/recorder...! And, thanks for subscribing and for taking a moment to leave a nice comment, Pierre

I've considered the practicality of using an old scanner for a "poor man's optical comparator." It might work for simple stuff, if there is room for scales to fit with the part. It would not be easy to align, though. That camera is certainly something to keep in mind.
@pierresgarage26875 жыл бұрын
This is simple enough, like you say the scales are the key to good and precise data. For a good source of backlight, you can use an old LCD moitor or tv, you gut it out and keep only the fluorescent tubes and diffusing pannels, this makes an excellent light table. The camera is able to do what ever you want from it , just depending on the lenses you install on it. Quite versatile mostly with the few built in features...
@MaturePatriot5 жыл бұрын
I must be a fluke, because I watch the whole video, when it comes to machining. Will a small mirror above the unit reflect the infrared to operate the remote controls from lower angles. I used to bounce my TV remote off a wall picture. Great demonstration video. Do you use the Canon Vixia cameras for you videos. I have two that I use. That Ant video reminds me of the movie 'THEM!'.
@pierresgarage26875 жыл бұрын
Guess that some reflective surface will solve the issue. I got a few Vixias 2 HR-600 and one Vixia G40, everything is better than Go-Pros or similar, also the possibility to add an external microphone, so much a need in an noisy environment. The G-40 is a real good camera... All the old folks here seem to remember " Them " lol Cheers, Pierre
@MaturePatriot5 жыл бұрын
@@pierresgarage2687 I've got a HR-600 and a HF R30. Have used the 30 much but the 600 is a great camera.
@pierresgarage26875 жыл бұрын
The thing I find about those models, HR-600 and 30, is the lens isn't very wide angle, if you add some cheaper wideners then the quality is really affected, lost of the filming here is done in situations where space is limited and I can't place the camera far enough to catch everything... This is where the Vixia HR- G40 is doing great the lens is catching as wide as the other cameras with out installing a widener on the lens, the only drawback is the price, though, maybe one day Google will contribute enough to help me break even... lol

Better check the software out, it seems bugged... :) I watched the 2nd video first, this looks like it has enough resolution to be useful. At 1920x1080, there must be some finite distance between each pixel at full optical resolution. I wonder what that would be.
@pierresgarage26875 жыл бұрын
As far as you can magnify using optical way, there is not much limitation on how many pixels there are, the resolution is going to be better than what the scales and the DRO can resolve, the software seems to work all right, just more difficult to calibrate the scaling on it as the magnification will afect the distance every pixel represent. you would need to keep everything fixed after such calibration, i.e. Zoom and focus...
