Dig in friend. Grab an oscillator, wire it to an audio output, make sure it's generating some noise (anything for now!) and tweak away. Then just insert random stuff in-between. The great thing about software is you can't fry anything … yet! Even better use it in AUM/Audiobus and process incoming sound with the audio in module. Search VCV Rack on KZbin ...

@TheVimFuego it might fry your ears ;) The app just lets you do anything you want so it can produce very high pitch sounds *very* loudly! One thing I would suggest is putting a limiter right before the output. That way you can avoid the volume going above a certain threshold you set.

I really think this THE deepest app on iOS for music making. My problem is that my 9.7” screen feels too small to be working with miRack. I have never felt the need for a huge iPad screen as much since using miRack. Hilarious really that this also runs on an iPhone. Good point about gettng going with a project that keeps getting bigger. That is how i started with one of your tutorial synths and just kept building on that as well. Hardest thing for me with miRack was getting started. I owned it for a while but just had almost no clue really where or how to start hahah. Felt so overwhelming that i sort of avoided it for a while. I also got it on sale like you and i think it is an incredible value if you realize what you get for those few dollars. Also one of the first apps i actually use my Apple pencil for as well lol. It really comes in handy now with miRack.
@ElectronisoundsAudio
@ElectronisoundsAudio 4 жыл бұрын
+27 for the Apple Pencil with MiRack!! lol Seriously though, the Apple pencil makes this sooooo much easier to get into these *tiny* little buttons! ❤️ Agreed about this being likely the deepest music app on iPad! You could literally build anything - from a crazy powerful synth, to a self-generating ambient soundtrack making thing, to a monster hybrid drum machine, to a massive groovebox to make full jams with!

Great purchase! something like Mirack has been a dream of mine ever since I got into iOS music years ago. the only thing that holds a candle to it is Audulus 3 - but Mirack is obviously more powerful for music production with its sampling ability and more powerful modules out of the box.

Awesome app, just got it, didn’t even know it existed. The best modular app UI ever. Somehow they managed to make all those cables *not* feel overwhelming. The cables don’t obstruct the view and are perfect balance between seeing them and... not seeing them ;) This app can be used as a sound generator (synth) or as FX by loading it as IAA, to process incoming sound. Which means you can design some very unique fx...

Haven’t seen grey option, but hiding is available in settings you’re right. But the cables are slightly translucent by default so I don’t even hide them ever because they don’t obstruct the view. Nicely done (something I can’t say for Model 15)

Hey Hey, Troy! 😀 👊 Sorry, but I haven't explored Drambo, so it's hard to compare. Exciting! Didn't I tell you a while ago that I was getting very interested in modular as hardware? And didn't we say how dangerously expensive it would get very quickly? So this is a very exciting compromise! The only downside and huge obstacle with this for me is the internet requirement. I'm never anywhere near an internet connection when I'm working on the iPad, be it somewhere out and about or at home! The only thing I could do as a workaround is to tether my iPad to my iPhone and use my 4G connection, although I have limited data allowance to 5GB/month. But I'm assuming once a saved project has been downloaded, or once the required modules have been downloaded to play with, the app should not require further internet access just to fiddle around with the downloaded modules? I would only need to tether again briefly to download any additional modules as required, right? What do you think, mate? Anyway, I would certainly be interested to follow your adventures in modular! Good luck, mate! :-)

@ElectronisoundsAudio
@ElectronisoundsAudio 5 жыл бұрын
Hey Hey! Thanks for watching! Yes, I am 100% self-taught. My #1 tip is to *stick with it*! 😀 👊 There is so much to learn that it can easily get overwhelming sometimes along the journey. I started my journey around 1996 when there was no KZbin to learn from, and we are so lucky now to have everything we could need to learn about electronic music production freely available here on KZbin! EPIC! If you are serious about trying to learn, You'll need to pick a computer (or iPad) DAW that appeals to you, or a hardware sampler/workstation like the AKAI MPC Live or AKAI Force to actually build the music with. There are advantages to hardware and advantages to software, you'll have to pick which one best suits what you want to achieve. Then, you'll want to find *multiple* KZbin channels that make content relevant to your chosen tools/workflow. I find the absolute best way to follow along in the beginning, it to pause the tutorial videos every few seconds and actually *do* what they just did. Follow along, as it were - and then it starts to make sense after you've been doing it more. There is so much here to learn, you just have to *stick with it* because it takes a lot of time! 😀 👊

@ElectronisoundsAudio
@ElectronisoundsAudio 5 жыл бұрын
Hey Hey, Thomas! Thanks for watching! 😀 👊 I'm sorry, but I do not have any experience personally with Audulus. Still very new to modular in general... 👊
@emil-9432
@emil-9432 5 жыл бұрын
Audulus has modules, but you can go inside those modules and redesign them... theoretically. But UI is so horrible that it’s just not fun to use at all. Great concept though. Some of the things wrong with Audulus UI include ability to operate controls (knobs, connecting cables etc) at a certain arbitrary zoom level. And most importantly very little info on the components some nodes do have labels like reverb, others don’t. So you load up someone’s patch and staring at all these boxes most of which make no sense whatsoever, making figuring out what’s going on completely impossible unless you memorized those shapes by heart. And then there are little things, like abbreviating things to a single lowercase letter “o“ for Output, “g” for gate. Is that really necessary? All those things destroy readability. Unless you’re very very dedicated to spending a lot of time and effort to learn all of this... Personally, I don’t see the point of making something that’s already difficult to understand, unnecessarily more confusing.

Hey Hey Danny! Thanks for watching! 😀 👊 I get the similarity with Reason and how Reason uses cables to connect things in the back. The routing aspect of this is indeed very similar! This goes much deeper though, in that you are building with the actual *different* individual components for oscillators, filters, effects, etc. as opposed to "finished" already built samplers and synthesizers. Speaking of Reason though.... It's been updated to work as a plugin *inside of Ableton* (and other DAW's, too!) now! 😲 👍 I have been Gassing for it since that update, and had to again talk myself out of grabbing it on Black Friday sale.... lol

@Rance Moest: Are you new to this channel? For the past few years, Dean has been putting his heart and soul into bringing us the most in-depth, technical tutorials and so generously sharing his wealth of high level music production knowledge for *free* on KZbin. If you perceive this presentation as an “ego trip”, it can only be because psychologically and technically it threatens your current lower level abilities, and you reluctantly realise this guy is coming from a much higher skill level that you can only dream of reaching, instead of humbly being inspired and enthused at seeing/hearing what can be done with something in the right hands and admitting you could obviously learn a lot from this guy. The video clearly said, “no tutorial”, just an introduction and demonstration to whet your appetite and show you what can be done. The video and comments clearly say, “tutorials to follow”. This type of demonstration does not deserve to be viewed as an “ego trip”, but a chance to realise you could better your knowledge and skill level by dropping your own ego first, listening properly, following and learning from an experienced and expert sound designer and music producer. Jacket on...jacket off...jacket on...jacket off....
