Why did it take so long to print. I have a Elegoo Mars and printed two of the test print at the same time and it only took 4hs 1/2?

I sincerely thank you for the tutorial, I just got mine and as someone who isn't very familiar with the technology or (believe it or not) someone who wouldn't even buy this for anything other than necessity, you made a very clear and concise video that helped me understand it.

Little tip - I think you can reuse the alchohol. Pour the alcohol in the vat and turn on the curing light. The resin in the alcohol will solidify and can be filtered out.

The plastic putty knife is for use in the resin vat to help remove things stuck to it without requiring the vat to be empty. Great practice to use it to check the FEP after every print and also to stir the resin to ensure even mixture of the pigment and aid in reoxygenation of the resin.

Here's how I remove prints, I've found a way that works pretty much every time and doesn't damage the print or the bed (if you're careful.) Get yourself some razor blades (the thinner the better) and CAREFULLY slide them under the print. Sometimes using just a razor blade is enough and the print will pop right off, but if it's still being stubborn, grab your putty knife and slide it in UNDER the razor blade, the thing should pop right off. You might need to use 2 or more razor blades on opposite edges of the print, for particularly large/stubborn prints.

Or elegoo could raise the price a little and put out a better quality build plate, my epax is scratched the hell and back and the more it gets scratched the harder the prints stick, but they're never hard to remove with a plastic spatula to begin with.
@robertofalorni7439
@robertofalorni7439 4 жыл бұрын
i do the same. I use a spare blade of a utility knife and it slides just under the prints making separation a breeze. I've been using my Mars for more than a month and the build plate has no significant scratches. Mine is anodized black and quite rough to the touch, while I've seen online many have problems with the machined ones.

4:25 Is it advisable to peel it off? Many people out there prefer not to do so. Others protect the screen with a FEP film.
@dustinnadler6916
@dustinnadler6916 2 жыл бұрын
Screen protection is strongly advised in the 3D printing community, as there were many cases of tub leakage, resulting in cured resin sticking on the screen and damaging it. It's cheaper to buy an FEP film than to replace the whole screen for around 80 bucks, I wouldn't leave the foil on though, it's usually all bubbly and wrinkly.

I've pre-set the plate like a 100 times to make sure it's leveled and still it won't stick. Am I not doing all the steps? What am I skipping, I even contacted Elegoo and they won't help. So right now I have a big paperweight that won't print. Please help me out. Thanks. Ohhh, what I have it's a 1st gen Saturn

which is better for a total newbie, a filament type printer or a resin printer?
@wyattelam4151
@wyattelam4151 4 жыл бұрын
I would definitely go for a filament printer if it's your first time. They are much easier to work with, cheaper and can produce much bigger and more functional parts. The main advantage with resin is that they can make very detailed tiny parts so if your going to be printing lots of tiny figures resin might be better for you
@Holztransistor
@Holztransistor 4 жыл бұрын
That FDM printers are cheaper isn't an argument anymore. Resin printers like the Elegoo Mars or Creality LD-002R can be bought for 220 Euros already. I started with a resin printer and getting used to the cleaning process and how to support parts with a sclicing software was a matter of a few weeks. Why did I start with a resin printer? Because my main focus are figures and statues for painting.
@Sharpevil
@Sharpevil 4 жыл бұрын
Depends entirely on what you want to do. FDM is better for functional and large parts. Resin is better for highly detailed, decorative prints. It's difficult to make parts that fit a mechanical purpose on a resin printer due to the fragility of most resins and the slight shrinkage of prints. FDM printers will likely fail a fair amount and require regular tinkering to get working, resulting in a lot of extra effort to get successful prints. Resin prints are less likely to fail, but require a good deal of careful post-processing that is at least somewhat hazardous to your health if you don't have the proper protective equipment. Ultimately, if you're willing to do your homework and you want to print models/figures, go resin. If you don't trust yourself to take the necessary safety steps and/or you want to build mechanical/large parts: Go FDM.
@michaels3003
@michaels3003 3 жыл бұрын
@@Sharpevil , there are other resin types available, but they are not cheap. If resin cost is not an issue, it may be a better solution for parts that do not need to be large. Very few people print large parts (over several days of non-stop printing).
