She had more action as a human than as a vampire like imagine the absurdity of that. She took down ORIGINALS in her HUMAN form and defended herself and Stefan. She wasn't some damsel in distress. They were mutual saviours. Damon watered down the strength of her morals and character till there was nth left in her personality but love for him. How do ppl ship that? I wish someone explained that sexual attraction isn't chemistry to them so we wouldn't lose Stelena. They are better than Jack and Rose.

This is the Elena Stefan was in love with. She was wiser, more understanding and more determined as a teenager as we see in first 2 seasons, and later on her whole personality just changed! I don't think they would have worked as a couple after season 3 plot, whether she became vampire or remained human. They were hinting a lot about her potential relationship with Damon.

stefan was always going to love elena. the issue was elena would only ever be capable of choosing damon if they striped of her personality (making her a vampire where for some reason her traits aren’t strengthened like they should be according to lore, her kindness and compassion and bravery, etc are all erased) AND strip her of her free will (sirebond).. elena had to be ruined for delena to happen.

Writers completely messed up Elena's behavior and character with her transformation into a vampire. Her spirit and courage and morals completely wiped out after the sirebond. Sirebond may only alter behavior. But our behavior has consequences that can alter our emotions. I think that's why Elena never returned to Stefan. She could never be the girl that he fell in love with.

It’s the fact that if it had been Stefan’s blood that turned Elena instead of Damon, they’d still be together. If a sire bond is formed when a human has strong HUMAN emotions for the person that turned them, that DEFINITELY would’ve applied to Stefan. Then season 4 would have them be together while Stefan finds a way to break the sire bond because he wouldn’t want to manipulate Elena.

The fact that the story heading to stefan being the third person like started off at Season 4 bcz in real life Ian and Nina were dating and audience of course Delena fans who became hardcore and so definitely they made up the story completely different. Without having any respect to the book. I mean i actually don't understand why... why what was their point of bringing Amara and Silas back just to kill and make up another dead love story. How pathetic! That couple died for nothing! Of course it was another doppelganger gathering. To make the story more sensible. To gave more meaning to the doppelganger story. To re-unite stefan and elena again. And unfortunately nina left the show made it even more horrible because they haven't got the time to re-unite them.

For all the people who are still confused: Vampires are thirst driven monsters who feed on blood. Damon is good at being a vampire (aka thirst driven monsters who feed on blood) because he inherently is a bad person. Stefan is bad at being a vampire (aka thirst driven monsters who feed on blood) because he inherently is a good person. That was the premise of their characters. And no, what they did to all the characters - turning them into people they weren't supposed to be in the first place - to justify their Dullena fanservice after season 4 does not count. Damon, at his core, is not compatible with the true essence of Elena (season 1-4), not in the long term.
