i’d understand that more if it weren’t the reasons elena’s acting so overprotective and worried and concerned. she wants jeremy to be safe. she’s only what, 16/17 when the show starts, making jeremy 14/15? she’s too young to be worrying so much about her brother dying, about keeping him safe, but that’s her reality. if she was being like this over something nonsensical or unimportant, i’d get being annoyed by it, but she has legitimate reasons to act like this. also older siblings just often feel this innate need to protect their younger siblings no matter how old they get. my sisters do and we’re all in our 20s and *don’t* need to worry about vampires trying to murder us.
