They are not fit to just let loose they are circus elephants, they have to learn how to be wild, learn who predators are, these people are people who love elephants and care about there future, so many people think oh they are elephants just let them loose they would die if left alone, and all those baby elephants would have been shot and killed at the Krueger national park as part of culling, they save them from death. That’s messed up wildlife refuge center euthanizing baby elephants. Everyone one of those elephants would be dead if it wasn’t for them.

Said that this man may think he is doing good...but he still exploits the elephants! Please go and check website and youtube of Sheldrick Wildlife Trust. These guys ARE TRUE sanctuary and rescued hundreds of baby elephants (I currently am supporting two babies). Dozens of keepers walking, sleeping with babies. NO hooks required EVER....not for babies, not for teens and not for adults! And they release them into protected wild parts of savannas...THIS place has nothing to do with real freedom by the looks of things....earning their keep...geeeee

@@dianemorris5816 Perhaps the practices shown here are not as enlightened as they could be, but the conditions these elephants were rescued from was appallingly worse. These elephants get to enjoy long hours every day foraging, bathing, and playing. They are not subjected to brutal handling as they would be in a circus. The goads you see are used just sufficiently to produce a small sensation. Elephants' hides are tough. As you have heard here, these people aspire to release these elephants someday. If they are not able to, it will not be their fault. In that case, these elephants will have nevertheless have had a decent life-- full of love, care, and companionship. They will have been able to live in the wild African bush instead of a cage or zoo enclosure. Your comment makes me wonder if you actually watched the whole video, or if you did, whether you paid any attention at all to what was said.

What kind of world are we n when African elephants are taken from the wild. Locked in zoos alone then have to be taken back to Africa but can’t join their natural herds because humans have destroyed their natural behaviour. Some small mercy they are living in their natural environment in herds from culled orphans. What have humans done. 😢 ‘Belguim pioneer’ 🤬🥱🙄 Zero concept of what the Belgians did in Congo???? TBH I don’t like these videos, all people helping elephants doesn’t look nice they use sharp tool to train the elephants, cruel, I watch lots of other elephants sanctuary , the way they treat elephants is very different, they don’t ride elephants, and respect elephants, but this video does not show respect on elephants, don’t want to watch, but I wish you guys can show more respect to elephants.

What is his goal for training the elephants? I am glad he's setting them free but why does he feel the need to train the elephants if they will be set free. I think it's time for the circus to be discontinue in the US. We have zoos and the animals are taken good as care of. Is there another way other than chaining the elephants leg to a tree that can be found to confine them for the short time.? Maybe build a log fence. I love these magnificent creatures they are so special. Thank everyone for helping the elephants. They are such a gift we must protect them.

If you want to see African elephant orphans being raised successfully and returned to the wild successfully, go to the Sheldrick trust videos, not here. Also, baby elephants require a very special milk replacer formula or they die.

Ok, I have watched this several times, and this is what I've picked up. The calf was premature, but I don't think it because the calf is to short, I have seen other calves overcome this by standing a bit on their back legs, in captivity, all they need is a 4" platform for the calf to stand on. I think the issue is the calf simply cannot suckle sufficiently to survive, this may be due to being two months early, or, as with human children, some just can't do it, I have a developmentally disabled brother that had great difficulty in nursing, he was born at over 9lbs, at one year old he weighed 13-14 lbs, maybe 8oz of formula a day...I expected him to die, honestly. I could be wrong, but that's how I see this.

10 minutes in and they lost me. Using elephants to give tourists "rides" defeats the whole purpose of bringing them back to the wild. Wild animals don't give rides. This is not what African elephants do. I think this guy said he started out as an animal trainer in a zoo or circus and he clearly hasn't let those days go. He should've just returned the elephants to Africa and left and let the Africans reintroduce the elephants to the wild. They know more about how the local animals behave than this outsider. Humans don't need to understand elephants, but need to let them be allowed be elephants. This is especially since they are so far more advanced than humans, according to what is seen in nature. Humans tend to get in their way. It is great that vets can heal them with medicine physical and save their life. Other than that humans should spare the land and the natural habitats.
