Nice video Rich 👍🏻 stayed in Donington on Bain and used it as a base to explore the Wolds for a few days last week. Blustery but lovely rides with a few choice hills. Will be back!

Great ride there. Bit of useless information for your Horncastle question, it was a roman fort that was fairly rectangular and enclosed most of the centre of town and apparently still stood over five yerds high in the 1700s. Caistor roman walled settlement probably fortified, Horncastle and Ancaster definitely, Grimsby rumoured outer fort also old skegness and Boston? All were for the protection of Lincoln. Horncastle fort played its part in the civil war after the battle of Winceby as the outward opening gates resulted in the death of many of the remaining royalist by the parlimentarian cavalry.

Horncastle has the remains of a Roman wall so it may be at some point in time had a castle or some kind of fortification.
