High coach Donny, I'm starting to coach volleyball to the 12-13 years old girls. Your videos are a great source for teaching the fundamentals of volleyball. One thing I notice is the fact the girls don't respect the zone of their court mates. They all move towards the ball. I call this "the flying cake" approach. So, What are they key recommendations from your side on how to teach the girls to respect the zones that each player has to defend? Any suggestions will be appreciate it and thank you for your great videos. Keep the good work!

Thank you so much for having this video. I just had a volleyball game earlier and there was this really good team with float serves all over the place. It really caught me off guard and I had more of a reaction than reading the serve. It mostly hit me in the chest area and I was just getting fustrated with myself...but like you said, being wrong can help to learn on how to be right. This helps me so much so now I know for next time. :) P.s. you are such a good coach. I learned a lot of things from you and really helped me improve..I even learned how to dive from you! My coach doesnt teach us many things especially like how to read a float serve so it's really hard to know how to even though they tell us to 'try to' (I'm only a Freshman..haha)

awesome video Coach! Can you make a video on what to look for when a hitter is trying to spike? For example do you start your first step (out of the 3 step approach) when the setter's hands touch the ball? Then from there where should the ball roughly be in the air for the hitter to be on their second step and so on. Just seeing if there's actually a system when reading when to hit or be in the air. Drills for the jump timing would also be great too. I tend to jump too early or too late when contacting the ball in the air. I'm sure jumping higher would help a great deal too so I'm ordering your jump program sir! Thanks!

i found this video and im so thankful, im 15 and im libero in senior team, this is my first season and i got in first line up because there is one guy, he is 16 and coach started me 2 games ahead of him, there is guy in my team that is 33, one is 26, 22... Im youngest one i dont have experience like others, really im worst one and last game we played worst team in league (out of last 4 we lost 4 so we were expected to win this one, they dont have libero or setter, their coach is playing setter), I was in starting team and i didnt got scared but in first serve i made and mistake. I was angry because they didnt know how to serve, there was only one player that knew how to serve, his serve was one of the best that i saw, it was floating serve, ball moved like crazy, and he was just aiming at me. I dont know how to receive with fingers so i always am at the back and slowely going when they serve, they knew that and they were just aiming at me, i had to receive with my fingers, 2 balls went just trough my fingers, i was angry and my motivation got away, we won our first set, but they were leading 23-18, we turned the game and won i think 34-32. Coach was furious, last season we won both of our games 3-0 but now they are playing better then us. In the second set we lost, i made again lots of mistakes, third they won, again i made a lot of mistakes, fourth we won and i was happy and my motivation was higher but i knew that they are serving at me whole time. and fifth we lost, 15-12, but in the end he put two middle blockers, i was okay with that because i knew that that was important to us and that im not ready yet. Idk what to do, other libero just isnt coming to the training and only one who can play next is me. Thanks for the video, he helped me a lot!!

Please tell about the who to generate the power when we spiking the ball
@lucasluroo8 жыл бұрын
can you please breakdown spiking moments (references) like you did with passing a float serve? Example: moving when the Ball reaches the 10 foot line = starting your approach when the setter touches the Ball. breaking the attack down to approach start up, leaving the ground with your jump, beeing ready to hit and hitting the Ball.
@lucasluroo8 жыл бұрын
Something like that, but with the spiking process, like "load before the setter touches the ball, leave when the setter touches the ball, finish your approach before the ball reach it's highest trajectory point, jump as the ball starts to come down, spike with arm extended" not sure if I made the correct step-by-step but that's what I meant for different kinds of sets (quick, standard and high ball)

Cool vid but I have one issue with this. They always taught us that the feet should be facing the direction you're passing the ball to because this way you don't need to move your hands. But when you pass from the left side your right foot is in the front so your body faces left even though you pass to the middle. (sorry for my english, not a native speaker)

Nice explain but u don't need one leg front, paralel shoud be on beginning. U will go faster forward but u will be slowly to go backwards like that. So face to server and paralel
