@jingqi91063 жыл бұрын
Part of the disrespect comes from a lack of understanding on how much stricter the rules were then. Players were not allowed to put their hands on the side of the ball when dribbling a la Iverson or Kyrie, for example. I like how the rules have loosened up a lot but it makes for a different game.

Look at the way fouls and violations were called... This required so much skill, agility, coordination, and patience for the game to be spectacular. Add the less amount teams and the fact that only the most talented get selected, makes this era harder to prove dominance... This makes Wilt Chamberlain, never fouling out of a game, so much more impressive. Being he cant just power his way to score (we know he has that strength to match anybody and more), he still individually dominated all he faced... Also, makes me more joyous that my favorite player was the only guard to win an MVP in one of the hardest eras to play and win... Love the content. Youre the only hope for this history to be preserved. Thanks!

@@fatalsniper3413 simply not true. Has nothing to do with egos. The game was made more interesting and entertaining for casuals. Nothing about the game has devolved. The focus has simply shifted to the perimeter rather than the post.
@TheRoyalHour3 жыл бұрын
@@fatalsniper3413 that has nothing to do with ego. The league doesn’t care if a player’s “ego” is satisfied. The players aren’t going to start a new league. So,I disagree completely. Like I said,they made the game more casual friendly over the years because no one wants to see an 85-78 final to an NBA Finals game. The league has evolved and there ain’t any debate to contest that,simply based on the skill level of an average player now compared to the era you are crediting. Jordan “palming the ball” and taking 3 steps was icing on a cake that already read “best player in the world”. Those were simply advantages afforded to star players. Players can dribble with 2 hands now. Not just 1. That’s evolution. Teams can zone up on players now rather than the archaic “stand on one side of the court and watch this average player on a bad team iso all night”. That’s evolution. Even if you don’t like the game past the 70s(seems clear to me that you don’t),that has nothing to do with the fact that the game has evolved
@TheRoyalHour3 жыл бұрын
@@fatalsniper3413 he did those things because they allowed him to get away with it. Why? Because they needed a guy to make THE star. Your theory of satisfying his ego is downright ridiculous. He clearly didn’t have his ego satisfied enough monetarily did he? Why weren’t those measures taken to “satisfy his ego”? Ridiculous. You claim the lack of rules is why players magically have better handle. Yes,because the personal trainers that work on their game all summer don’t exist. Your comments about the rules are laughable.
@TheRoyalHour3 жыл бұрын
@@fatalsniper3413 then on top of that,you talk about “if”. “If”. Yeah,and if Jordan played in the defenseless 70s(the era where every team averaged 100 ppg without a 3 pt line),he would have had more than 69 as a career high. Stop this. Where is this energy about the rules when you speak about the 70s and the high scores without a 3 pt line? Let me guess. No one could defend anyone right?
@TheRoyalHour3 жыл бұрын
@@fatalsniper3413 ...him going after glory is completely independent from the reasoning on the league’s side that I clearly illustrated. You are using a ridiculous narrative to make an excuse for why the best player in the league got away with “violations”. Doesn’t have anything to do with ego,regardless of how you try to paint that picture. Still waiting on your explanation for literally every team in the league averaging 100 ppg in multiple seasons during the 70s. You claimed the “rules” are why the game is so wide open now. There wasn’t even a 3 pt line and they were averaging more than teams today...
