This is seriously the best fight scene I have ever seen in a film or tv show. Not just because how well it is shot but you can really feel the emotions of Eli & after everything he's been through you can really feel him at his breaking point. Such a great performance. The definition of a fight to the death, kill or be killed
@pbdye1607
@pbdye1607 5 жыл бұрын
Yup - if you ever get into a situation where you're fighting for your life, forget you're human, because you have to assume you're not fighting a human anymore, but rather just an animal. Fight to cripple, disable, and wound - hopefully you don't have to kill them, just inflict enough damage, pain, and suffering to make them realize you're not worth the effort or remove their ability to continue attacking you. Go for kneecaps, eyes, genitals, the throat, the back of the neck like Eli did here - everywhere most people instinctively know they *shouldn't* attack if they're fearing potential prosecution; go for those spots. If someone's still willing to continue trying to kill you *after* you've partially or completely gouged out one of their eyes, they're way too far gone. Resist the temptation to use an improvised weapon (unless you're going to lose without it) - if it gets away from you, all you've really done is give your opponent a great idea and means to execute it.

This fight just perfectly encapsulates pure rage in a fight. Eli is barely phased by anything. Even after being smacked with a vase twice, getting a thumb in the eye, thrown head first into a cabinet and punched in the kidney, he STILL powered through and barbarically beat Knox to death. Fantastic fight scene.

Haha I've heard of some crazy super-human feats of people on an adrenaline rush. I was once a bar-back at a juke joint a few years ago. I was having issues with a very obnoxious and drunken patron. I kept warning him and warning him. Well eventually he copped a feel on my girlfriend's ass as she was delivering food to a table. Next thing I know my 120lbs ass had his 300+ pound ass in a vertical suplex and was punching him in the face before his body made contact with the concrete floor. Also i'm not much of a fighter/alpha male either. I was a nerdy World of Warcraft playing Heroin addict (at the time).. Never underestimate the capabilities of someone being pushed into "Fight or Flight" mode. Hehe Cheers!

It's a great fight but it would be perfect if it didn't contain the cliche "getting choked while blind reaching for an object to hit the strangler over the head with". It's been done too many times and always seems fake to me. Not that Im an expert or anything but it's extremely difficult to do anything other than fight the hands on your neck which is the instinct and the person on top has perfect visibility and will see it coming. You might instinctively go for your own weapon but probably aren't going to be able to improvise something you can't even see. Maybe it has happened but not to the frequency it does on tv and movies.

I don't think there is a more amazing Mano a Mano fight to the death scene in any other television series. I lack the imagination to put together a masterpiece like this. At 1:40 when Eli grabs the back jacket collar, and punches the back of Knox's head like a speed bag! To name one! There is every flavour of vicious in this scene. And you can't leave out make-up and special effects. Knox's face at the end..... From the comments it sounds like a lot of you know your stuff, and you must dig this scene from Season 4 ep. 12 because you're here, right? I haven't watched it dead slow to count all the cuts but that's next.But on this being the best fight scene in a television series: Thoughts?

It's funny that there is a show that actually demonstrates fighting realistically between two people instead of them both knowing expert hand-to-hand combat flipping each other over doing rolls over the couch and shit constant back-and-forth choking I've seen even films that take place in the 20s and 30s at least when they're sent where the characters seem to fucking John Wick of the 20's and 30's with their hands

I hate being so late to the comments but I agree with everyone else this is one of the best fight scenes in tv/film. Eli is a beast when he wants to be especially over family!!! I still think the knife fight scene in Saving Private Ryan is the best as far as realism.

I think what he says just somewhat overlaps Knox's line. I could be wrong but i think Eli starts to say 'I'll fucking kill you' right then

If he was lip syncing it would not have made the final cut. There are plenty of ways to time a scene on or off camera

@@indrayamar8764 Maybe I guess, but they may have just really liked that take, and I think it was fine to leave for the audience, because of your original theory regarding their lines overlapping. Still sees to me he's mouthing Agent Knox's line, or getting ready to say his own. Great scene either way!

@@mobiz711 that's true no one knows except those who made the show. Regardless it is a great scene and it is definitely one of the best and most satisfying kills on the show, second to when Richard kills Manny, imo.

Remember the fight Eli Had with Nucky in the conservatory of Nucky's house? It ended with Margaret holding a shotgun to Eli. I think it made Eli more determined to win this brawl, and do what he wanted to do to Nucky. Brilliant choreography.
