My “German from Russia” grandmother was born near Saratov, not too far from Uryupinsk. My dad (her son) became a pharmacist! Just loved this video. The town is beautiful! Looking forward to visiting Russia some day!

This is a really fun video. I quite enjoyed it. I grew up in the American south. We were always looked at like the people in Urupinsk are there. We just smile and laugh about it. Thanks to you, Eli, I know the whole of Russia (don't drop the "w"!). I love the way you respect all the places you visit and their inhabitants. Every country has its own "Urupinsk". France had its "Romorantin", but we prefer the fictitious name of "Trifouilly-les-Oies", among others. The USA has its "Podunk", but "Kalamazoo" isn't far behind (both actual place-names).

About a year ago, you posted a video titled: Our Life in Russia Under Sanctions. I think it will be interesting to do a comparative follow-up to that topic now. It's easy to deflect by saying "oh, I'm not interested in politics"! But guess what, politics affects us all whether we acknowledge it or live in denial! Love your satire! Love your humor! Never heard of Urupinsk Fascinating history. Thanks for taking us there. One might expect such a remote town to be backwards, but it’s rather modern-despite the cold. The pharmacy there is what we call a compounding pharmacy in America, which prepares custom-made medicines. Love the tribute to goats. (GOAT also means Greatest Of All Time.) The song at the end was very nice. Can you play it again in another video and show the words on screen?

Unfortunately, Russia is still depicted in a wrong way in many places around the world, and many people judge by stereotypes.
