Thorough, concise and even a touch of education on how a combustion engine work! I didn’t skip through a single portion because it was all so informative and well edited! You rock! If only all DIY/how-to/ tutorials were this good.

Haha.. had to laugh when you gave the tip about hammering a screw driver through the oil filter. I bought a boat last year with a I/O engine and the oil filter was already in a super awkward/tight space and I guess the guy who last changed it didn’t wipe some oil on the gasket before he screwed it on and it was stuck solid and after busting my knuckles dripping blood everywhere from my oil wrenches slipping I accepted defeat and punched the screw driver through and boy oh boy are you right about having oil all over the place, got the job done tho!

Great video, i have the mf41-22 and mostly everything was similar. Just finished the oil change and run it for a few minutes but the oil light/ch6 oil is still on. Wouldn't happen to know how to reset it?
@EliminatorPerformance Жыл бұрын
A maintenance reminder will display in the information window, after the first 5 hours of operation, and then after every 50 hours. The reminder should automatically reset after 5 hours, however, the reminder can be manually reset by turning the key switch from OFF to RUN (with engine off) and then depressing the set and select buttons simultaneously and holding for 5 seconds.

How can you tell when a mower pulley (or idle pulley) requires replacing?
@EliminatorPerformance4 жыл бұрын
Wobble test, with the tension off the belt, see if the pulley wobbles side to side, up or down, on an angle, so grab one side and move it up and down, see if it wobbles. That means the bearing is no good. Thanks for watching!
@tomharries8473 жыл бұрын
Did you clean that mower before servicing? If not its one of the cleanest i have seen. You should see whats on my lift today, Last service done 4 years ago, full of rust, noisy pulley bearings as well as chewed coil leads and air filter due to mice. And they want it done under 100 GBP.

Well done. Did the mower have an hour meter? I just added one to my new rider. Shouldn't you also grease the rear axles?
@EliminatorPerformance5 жыл бұрын
If this was a commerical unit being used daily, I would absolutely record hours to keep track of usage. This machine is used for residential purposes, and gets serviced every year, so the hours are of little use here. Removing the wheels to grease the axles can also be done, yes. However, it shouldn't need it more than once every couple years, as the grease should stay put! Thanks for watching!

How much of the grease reaches the upper and lower spindle bearings?? The spindle shaft is spinning in a hollow housing, so what is the grease actually doing? I have put a dozen + pumps of grease in a spindle zert and none of it came close to the bearings. Whenever I service a mower deck I pop the seals off the bearings and add grease.
@EliminatorPerformance5 жыл бұрын
Packing the bearing is the best way for sure, no argument there. If the grease wouldn't of went it, I would've packed the bearing. In this case though, it took a few good pumps and I could hear it going in, then it started coming out the zert, so I knew it was filling up.

Greasing the spindle does nothing on most mowers seeing there's sealed bearings know for sure John Deer mowers are this way possibly this mower is different. There's a few steps to get some grease into them

Stens is an American Parts Distributor, but they have a distribution center in Brantford, Ontario! They also require customers to have a Master Business License.
