A Liverpool lad born in the 1940s, member of the cavern and the Iron door clubs to name just two. I did see the Beatles and chatted to them and other groups on numerous occasions. That said though at the time they where just one of a number of groups that where playing in the clubs. Oh!! I wish I had an inkling how big they where going to be back then. This is the best I have seen regarding Liverpool places and the Beatles, also the information given was correct, it is a pity there is nothing of the Iron Door club left. There was a lot of destruction that Liverpool City council and councillors should be made to answer for, some example's the demolition of the Overhead Railway (the dockers umbrella) the real Cavern Club and Liverpool's very large Tramway System selling off the ferry boat the Royal Iris.

Fascinating stuff. Lovely memories. As a Beatles obsessed 14/15 year old in 1972/3, I nicked off school (played truant) a few times and jumped the train to Liverpool (I'm from Blackburn, Lancashire, so not too far to travel) and wandered around looking for some of these sites. I found quite a few of them over time. Lovely to see them again. I'm 57 now and have been back quite few times over the decades and I always feel at home, feel a connection to the city. It's my spiritual home :-)

Dear BL, have they fixed all (or any) of the holes yet?
@MrBlackburnlad7 жыл бұрын
Not a chance. It's more like 4,000,000 holes now. In fact since Crapita took control of services, the town is just one big hole ;-)

@alissaflorisbal137 жыл бұрын
Blackburn Lad Are the holes rather small though? :D
@MrBlackburnlad7 жыл бұрын
It's all relative Alissa. What one regards as small, another would regard as large. We once believed we knew how many holes it would take to fill the Albert Hall, but with modern day safety regulations, we've had to reduce the capacity and have a re-think, because the larger holes take up more space than the smaller ones (a logistical nightmare). Life was much simpler back in the summer of 1967. I was 9 years old and the sun shone every day. Found my way upstairs and had a smoke, Somebody spoke and I went into a dream. Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, ahaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa.

Thank you for sharing! It was especially fun to see the original stage since I couldn't find it in the museum when I visited last year. Not sure if I 'll ever be back but you never know. The National Trust tours of John and Paul's homes was the highlight of my visit. Thanks also for your comments at the end. I've had similar experiences with the Beatles music. There is a song for almost every human experience and they have cheered me up many times since I became a fan at age 10.

i live in liverpool and i thought i knew everything about the beatles. you have really done your research and i must say you have really have educated me. johns mothers grave got me very emotional, i was very interested to see brian epsteins grave too and its not very far from me. all around liverpool and the surrounding towns there are plaques with dates and information about when they played at those venues, old cinemas and music halls, pubs and clubs etc even if they dont exist anymore, they're even on supermarkets now. my girlfriend is french and her mother locked herself away for a week and cried her eyes out when john lennon was killed, when she visits, i will now give her the extended guided tour. Thank you so much for this upload. it was really very very interesting.
