Elise: I will share a trick my Mom and I used growing up without my father: when we came home late or someone seemed "too friendly," we would reference "Dad." Unloading the car at night, we would give orders to my 2 brothers(who lived 1,000 miles away!) When a service or delivery person comes to the house, you can always say something like, "My brother will love it! He lives with me and this is perfect!" I know you are smart, but you are so, so pretty it is best not to let strangers know you live alone. As I am now older, I think I need to take that advice myself! And may God, who sees all, protect and keep you:) His angels are on duty 24/7!

Such a great idea. I too was worried for Elise. I had a problem with a guy coming into the shop I work in. One day he came in when I was not working and he was asking about me. My colleague, who knew about the problem, told him I was away with my husband for a few days. I have also started wearing my late mother's wedding ring.

Another trick I use for my answer machine is to have my recording say, sorry WE missed your call, please leave a message and we will ring back as soon as we can. This both suggests you do not live alone and you do not say you are not home but that you missed the call. No sense letting burglers know the house is empty. Another thing is when getting your phone listed, especially as a woman, do not put your first name, use an initial. Like T Yeates.

Over a 45 year marriage, I have redone my home so many times I have lost count. Every time the pieces were thrifted, repurposed, repainted etc… I would completely finish a scheme right down to the dishes in the kitchen, linens and artwork. I was always cost conscientious! It was my “hobby”. I had been a stay at home wife so when an object I desired was costly I would find a job and work for what I wanted. My husband was so obliging and proud of my creations that he encouraged my every move. When I decided it was time to make a change I would gift my pieces to young people starting out in their life’s journey. Why not, I was only giving away my time and effort and it was a pleasure to see how my work was received. Nothing went to waste and nothing was trashed. It was an exciting way of life. I am now 68 years old, widowed, and still creating rooms I love.

If you don't find a matching handle for your new dresser, I would say that one option would be to remove the two from the top drawer and use one of them to replace the missing one on the second drawer. Then get two new ones for the top drawer that are in the same "theme". It will look intentional.

I hope that the day you look around your lovely home and feel it is done that you don’t necessarily think about moving but instead sit down and soak in the creativity that surrounds you. Your home may then offer you a sanctuary for you to plan new creative endeavors. A place that soothes your spirit, calms your mind and gives back to you the love and peace of mind that you gave it when you were creating the spaces.❤❤❤❤

If you want to give the wood on your new chairs a boost we use a product called Liquid Gold which feeds and nourishes the wood and then we use a natural bees wax and it really makes the wood look beautiful and revived. Yes, most of our ordinary chain thrift shops are definitely NOT what you'd call "boutique" quality, but they're still starting to charge serious boutique 💸prices on 💯% donated goods🤣. I figure if I'm gonna pay a premium💰 for somebody's cast-offs that still need TLC〰️the store & items better be clean, attractively merchandised, w/a pleasant environment & staff to boot. Otherwise, I'd rather buy items at yard sales for a better 💲deal. 🤗It's important to enjoy our shopping experience. 😉Although not sustainably minded🌐, sometimes I would rather go to a mall & buy new stuff on season end clearance than shell out serious coin🪙 on old stuff literally crammed on shelves & racks that I have to sort thru w/others. 🤩It's different w/Vintage & Antique resellers who are actually selling a whole curated retail experience. 💚Bridget from Cali☘️ (using my pal's YT acct)

This one actually looked fancy compared to the only one that is near wear I live. That one is a warehouse type of thrift shop and is super dusty. Most of the wooden furniture needs woodworm treatment as well. I would love to have shops here like the ones she visits. I've had my house for 8 years (in 13 days!), and the plan is to stay here for the rest of my life (seeing your house makes me have second thoughts though, your livingroom is beautiful, as well as your garden - I love houses from the 60s/70s with teak panelling, brick walls, windows down to the floor across the wall, the complete opposite to what I have now, and if someone want to trade me a house like that, I may consider it... ^_^). But I'm never finished decorating, I always find new things I love more than what I already have - now I'm on my third renovation... What I'm saying is, that if you love your house, but you always want it to be somewhat of a project, just keep redecorating! I do it with thriftfinds as well, which makes it possible on the cheap, and still sustainable! ^_^

Greetings from sunny Florida! 😊 When the weather is beautiful here, I can't stay out of my garden either. I also have an online shop selling vintage items. I share your weakness for antique and thrift shops, striped fabrics, chairs, and lamps. My fiance now gently steers me away from chairs and lamps because I have too many. 😂

Place both of your 2 new lovely chairs directly across from your sofa, and place your other lovely chair at the end, between both sides { closest to your doorway to your beautiful garden }.

I love how you say "who makes up the rules? why not use cake plates as regular plates?" - YES! I 100% agree with you. Great video Elise! An idea for your TV is you could get a wall bracket that allows you to put your TV on the wall and angle it as you need it. OR you could do a wall bookcase where you can put your TV and display other items as well. Looking forward to seeing the progress. Keep it up Inspiration Girl!

I like the idea of the TV on the wall too. And maybe with a painting over it when it's not in use.

I drape a beautiful cloth over my TV (or computer) as it seems so out of place in my vintage inspired room to have a modern harsh black box or silver laptop ☺

Love the plates idea. After watching a went out with my family and sourced some beautiful plates use them yesterday and I was researching them last night and I saw a whole bunch of things about the lead inside of these vintage glass plates. Have you heard about this? I'm kind of worried now?

I love what you are doing in your house .... it looks fabulous!! Here is an idea for your TV.... maybe use a small dresser to place your TV on.... the drawers would be a great place to store things in your living room. ie Tv controller, matches for candles, box cutter if you tend to open boxes up in the living room, magazines, extra candles etc. The cake plates are beautiful... you could use them as "plate charger" ...we call them in the US.... putting regular plates on top of cake plate for dinner... though I would place a folded up paper towel on the cake plate below the regular plate so that it would not slide around. Also that one guy that made the previous delivery alone was very attracted to you .... he tried to connect the best he could. He did it alone because he did not want competition. I enjoy your videos and I am so pleased things are coming together for you!!

Who is to say you can't get something you like. If it speaks to you then get it. You can always figure out where to put it later 🖤

Ohh I love the chairs! They are just perfect. I love gold velvet. This was a wonderful video it’s real life. Some days you just need to buy chairs and glass plates. Yesterday I thrifted tops and curtains, and There is nothing better than the treasure hunt! I also found 4 antique cut glass Sherry glasses! I don’t drink Sherry but I had to have them. Yes, I love the hunt!

It's ok to buy yourself pretty things to enjoy. The plates are beautiful. The clear vase is beautiful also I would use it for cut flowers. So feminine. The Rododeum with the pink flowers would be beautiful.

I liked this video very much, also I have a weakness for pretty dishes, too. It's hard to control my love for old [vintage] from '50's and before. Many, which I remember from childhood and early adult times. Not only lovely but good memories. That said, I'm trying to minimize especially purchases that are only pretty. Your only problem is saving for your own vehicle while having the fun of making your new home so lovely.
