'HIP' and 'HD' are . not some procedurally generated star systems. HIP refers to real stars that have been measured and catalogued using Hipparcos satellite observatory. HD is another star catalogue classification (Henry Draper star catalogue). You will also notice 'Gliese' catalogue names in the galaxy map.

Excellent way to explain the 3 letter codes and the functionality of the series searching in the search bar in the map, a lot of entry-level explorers and new players don't know the basics beyond the list of scoop-able stars and such... great video man! o7

Good video , I use this technique all the time now , it's funny to find a blackhole with this technique , only to find it's already been found .. but then to find a few others right next door that they missed is even better . I managed to find the smallest and coldest blackhole - even got a codex entry . So thanks for this great video . 👍

Thanks very much for the tutorial, that series method will be really useful for mapping entire systems. Just a quick question, how did you get your background starfield looking so nice? The stars in the background look slightly bigger than what I see, but makes it look beautiful, like fairy lights :)

At 11:12 you hit the arrow, next to the text box you wrote half the system name in, and get sent elsewhere how do you know what star to click on? You seem to find exactly what you were looking for very fast. (Nothing is usually that easy in Elite hahaha)

This is all very interesting but, i'm trying to find out if and how to use the map to locate specific modules for your ship, also how do i locate where a particular module is, which was put in storage?........for the map someone said to filter tourism and high tech, to find passenger cabins, now it sounds right and logical but how do i do it?.....do i need to buy data, there doesn't seem to be any route markers when this is filtered and the Elite instructions are useless, and i don't just want to be told where everything is, ie this player guides which baby feed you info, just the knowledge of how to do it,.....cheers and 07 cmdrs
@adriandriscoll86404 жыл бұрын
EDDB.io you search for stations that carry the modules-ships you want - but this can be a crap shoot if they have run out and replenished

Very interesting video which mostly went right over my head! (I'm fairly new to ED and even newer to exploration). When I get more experienced I will try and use this tutorial to my benefit. In the meantime I'm currently on a small expedition about 2500Ly from my base, do you have any tips on what kind of systems I should be looking at to find some undiscovered ELW's please? Not found a single one yet... One last thing, you added 'AA-A' twice in your description (in case the 2nd was meant to be another code).

Can/Could it(The Galaxy Map System) be used find real-time perceivably moving rogue star systems, or individual stars/stellar-mass-objects? Is it that capable? I got to think there's only a handful of those (Obviously, relatively. But, even so, very small @ the 'relative scale'.) Or (judging by the level of your proficiency with the Galaxy map, I'd not be surprised if have been able to deduct it's, externally perceivable, level of detail programmed in the game) is the Elite Dangerous galaxy even programmed with that much variation of stellar Mass object behavior, and interaction, on galactic scales?

Very very nice, I knew about this, but never quite thought of the applications, does this work for every region of these types?
@CMDRGURU9516 жыл бұрын
I believe it does work for every region, yet the regions will change with the higher mass systems being the densest near the core and the mass becomes smaller as it works its way out from there.

im going to watch this video several times its crazy what i didnt know even just last week i would jump to a star go up or down (compared to my ship) and travel a ways and turn around and watch the white dots move to find undiscovered planets and the reason is my screen is a cheep 32 inch tv and i couldnt read the blue words telling me to hit ' to open up the fss scanner to scan for planets i assumed the blue words told me i found a planet not that their was a whole different scanner i wasnt using... i have a cutter lol and iv playd for a long time without knowing of the ffs scanner lol and i have never done the tutorial i started in a sidewinder and barly made it out of the dock and i tought myself and in doing so i want to share somthing with you if u will add me in elite dangerous im cmdr mtcup or add my discord adrudge#2408 i found something pretty cool in how some things work in the code of the game without breaking things too badly and without cheating and if you know or not il tell u a small piece now to get you interested... when your at 0 speed and your looking at the pretty white stars way out there those are actualy items that can be shot at and they spin and they go as fast as you do and if you want to hit 1 with a hardpoint you need to go in reverse so that the star fallows you and trust me i broke the game in open play lol i had other commanders watching me and even i dont fully understand the implications of what i found i hope the intrigued send me a msg and thx for reading all this @);~

@CMDRGURU9515 жыл бұрын
Hence why the title does not read "worlds best navigation tutorial". Also, being that you came to my channel to give a smarmy remark, I feel you may be the last person to suggest anyone is giving any sort of attitude. Thanks for the feedback, at least I know where the 4th thumb down came from. Luckily the 162 thumbs up make me feel that I was at least a little helpful to a pretty good lot.
