For the new miners out there, it gets often forgotten in guides like this because you only set it once: set all other materials you don't want to collect to ignore, check the contacts page after you got some chunks and weed out all what you don't want to collect, your limpets then only collect the stuff you want (mixed rocks will discard the part you have ignored and only yield you the stuff you want)
@HawkesGaming4 жыл бұрын
Yeah I forgot to mention that which is a bummer. I did pin that in the main post. I'll likely also edit the description to mention it as well.

@TrangleC4 жыл бұрын
Good tip. I had to learn this the hard way, by experimenting around. There is one thing I still don't know yet, which would help me a lot. I always have to go into my comm-display and select the prospector limpet to see the contents of a scanned asteroid. Apparently it is possible to just have it displayed on the left, in the cockpit, without the need to open your comms. Knowing how that works would save me so much time.
@TrangleC4 жыл бұрын
Nevermind, I found out you just have to target the limpet. Of course kind of makes me feel silly, but then again, I think that is kind of un-intuitive still, despite being so simple. When I target stuff, I usually get information about that thing, not about what that thing is attached to, you know what I mean? This should be something the limpet communicates to me and should have nothing to do with targeting anything, except the asteroid maybe. That is why I didn't think of that option before writing the previous comment. The game kind of breaks its own rules there, on a low level.

You will be rolling in Space Bucks after watching this video Commander! Don't forget to set all other materials you don't want to collect to ignore in your control panel. ALSO KEEP IN MIND when Fleet Carriers go live in June all known hot spots will get reshuffled in order to make room for Tritium in the loot tables. This means for a SHORT TIME there will be no known LTD x 3 and Painite x 2 spawns until Commanders find them. Once that happens Inara and the miners tool will refresh with the new locations. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND you get as space rich as possible before the June update. There will likely be a short period of discovery while we look for them again! *EDIT* For fire groups I have Mining Lasers and Collector Limpets on 1 and have my Prospector limpets on 2. I have a single fire group for convenience.

I can make a video on that if you like. In the mean time if you want to look it up there are videos on youtube already on that topic. Just make sure to take at least one point defense if not two in your ship. When farming for the guardian materials you will have to fight the guardian sentinels. The point defense on your ship will fire at the guardian missiles for you. This makes them super easy to kill. Also keep in mind the closest guardian sites are about 1k light years from the bubble. Taking a small ship will ensure that you can land right next to the guardian site so the point defense kicks butt for you.

I grinded empire rank up to the rank you need for the cutter and used the cash to buy an imperial clipper, followed this guide afterwards and mined at the GCRV 1568 and made 1.8 billion in around 10 hours. Used it to buy and fully kit out a asp explorer, python, anaconda and imperial cutter. Now I can easily turn out around 200 tons of painite with my cutter and go sell 522 tons of painite for over 500 million in a single trip and I'm saving up for the absurd cost of a fleet carrier. If only low temperature diamonds didn't get nerfed. One thing this guide doesn't mention is the fact that you should be bringing core and subsurface mining tools when you go out laser mining. They're fairly cheap and you can get a massive boost of painite cargo if you accidentally find a core asteroid or subsurface deposits and it will really speed up your mining trip

The rocks refresh every 2 hours. Core asteroids take forever to respawn. I mine in Borann a boat ton and only run into tiny streaks of dry spells where other commanders have mined before. That is super rare though and not the norm.
@orodruined45264 жыл бұрын
@@HawkesGaming The 2 hour refresh rate is personal. Laser mining has a set number of fragments per rock per commander. This is why wing mining is a viable option, if fragments were not personal, everybody in the wing would compete for the same number of fragments, which would significantly lower the output of each wing member. Dry spells are down mainly to RNG. If the fragments were not personal, your prospectors would also show "depleted" and not just low percentages.

Great video and thanks alot for it...keep up the fine work. You are the best one to watch - you stick to it without rambling on like others. Quick question...you are not using a pulse analyzer...why? Are you just randomly hitting asteroids in the belt? Thanks!
@lamebubblesflysohigh4 жыл бұрын
If you mine in solo play I would highly encourage building your ship like if you would build an exploration vessel for highest jump range possible to eliminate as much travel time as possible because sometimes the best price* have a very limited demand... for example yesterday I sold my diamonds on a station with only 800 demand and literally 10 seconds later someone in chat cried because price fell from 1,2 million to merely 600k which means I beat that guy to it by mere seconds including the time it took him to write into chat! So if it is not essential, leave it at home. D-rate everything that is not related to jumping or mining (thrusters, shields etc.) and if you are not going to engineer your mining ship, at least consider guardian FSD booster. * - the best price is the highest possible profit per hour not the highest price on inara or edtools. If you get 999k 3 jumps away and 1,3M 25 jumps away from your mining spot, 999k is actually the better price because by the time you are back again mining from that long track, you could have been almost done mining your second load if not already on your way to sell it which means higher profit overall. edit: fixed som typos

@michaelloman82274 жыл бұрын
You don’t use the pulse scanner? And hit every asteroid that has the percent high enough? I always thought saving prospector limpets only hitting the rocks the glowed bright. Still only having 1 in five. Having ltd’s. How many rocks you prospect in a single run? Compared to how manny you actually mine. It seems I’m spending four times as long just filling my hull.
@dreamyrhodes4 жыл бұрын
You don't need prospecting can go without and have more limpets for collecting. You can just fire any asteroid then you ignore on the contacts panel everything that's not LTD and after you done that a few times you have all minerals in that ring ignored until only LTD is left. That's the only stuff limpets will pick up now and also the only stuff you see as bright dots on radar. Then when you go without prospector you just fire on an asteroid and wait if there's white comming out. If so collect it it will be LTD if not or only a few come out its not a LTD asteroid and the few dots that come out are probably materials like iron, nickel, sulfur ect (you don't want to ignore these because you need them for Engineers and also manufacting your own limpets and stuff like ammo should you run out and since they take no cargo hold, always pick them up too). These without a stream of white dots coming out you can ignore, because after like 2 or 3s firing on it without white dots appearing, there won't be any more LTDs either.

So generally I only get to fill up just a bit less than half my cargo space by the time I'm out of limpets. Is it possible ltd mining got nerfed even more in the last month or so? Not complaining, still managed to upgrade to the python recently, but it took me about 6 two hour sessions in the asp explorer to gather enough space-cheddar to do it. And even then it was only because I happened to be so lucky to find a void opa core by chance on my last run, which sold off for vastly amounts more cheddar than the ltds I was actually looking for.

I could get from the mining hotspot to wherever to sell in about 10 to 15 jumps but I must have done almost 30 jumps in the Python to get back...

After you've scanned the rings with the DSS, do you need to have the DSS equipped on future visits to see the hotspots, or will they always be visible from then on?

Found your (other) money making (mining) guide yesterday... Spent 5 hours amassing peanuts for the Adder, made 2 runs to buy the ASP, spent another 2 hours kiting and mining (without any other NPC ever showing up), and when my cargo was full of shinies i friendship-drive hopped away - well at least i tried to. The game froze, I had to restart. When i logged back in, I got scanned IMMEDIATELY and 30 seconds later i was space dust. Was this game seriously made to just piss people off and waste their time like that? Jeez.....

How do we target the rings with the scanner? Also how do we move the scanner around? I lucked out and found a few good asteroids but couldn't find the hot spots with my dss
@Fadamor4 жыл бұрын
Here's how I did it (I use a joystick, but I suppose the mouse will work the same way). In supercruise, get near the planet with the rings until the Detailed Surface Scanner (DSS) no longer shows "Out of Range" then slow to minimum supercruise speed. Switch to the DSS which will change your display to the scanner display. Slew the display around to what you want to scan using the joystick/mouse, then fire a probe using button 2. One probe scanned the entire ring but if the planet has multiple rings I guess you have to probe each ring separately.

The problem that i have with all these guides: they are clearly done by players who have already good ships and lots of money. I would love to see a guide with the beginner in mind = they don't have these big ships and not so much money. I doubt i would get all that stuff into my type 6 or in that grade (i have just 1 million cr after buying that ship) and since i'm lousy at fighting i can only try to be a trader, explorer or miner.

Not clear where you drop into the rings to get best amount of diamonds. It looks like you are just dropping into a bright yellow patch, but it's all bright yellow. Then when you get in, I don't know why you are heading in a certain direction.
@MrShadowpanther34 жыл бұрын
If the triple HS is still there, drop directly between the two closest HS markers in one of the gold bands. Target one of the HS indicators (from your left panel) and just keep mining towards that. It will show up on your navball (upper left of radar) and also on your hud. It is simply to make sure you don't get turned around and start probing rocks you have already checked.

Is Tritium mined? Video coming up on that? Use a fleet carrier to be a hauler, load it up with LTD and make small trips to high sell for max profit?
@HawkesGaming4 жыл бұрын
When FC's appear in June all the hot spots will be re-rolled to add tritium to the mix. It can be mined or purchased. When I get my FC I plan to park it next to where I'm mining. Fill it up and then sell when prices peak at their highest.

I had a lot more fun gathering money by bounty hunting in the sidewinder -> cobra -> vulture. Fun and exciting, and not that time consuming. So when I sold off my fully equipped vulture I had more than enough to get an Asp Explorer, equip it to mine and have plenty left. Anything below an ASP I can imagine will be a terrible drag to mine with.

So how do you find overlapping Hotspots? Couldn't tell in that web page how you determined that.
@MrShadowpanther34 жыл бұрын
Luck... exploration? I would imagine there are more out there, but just have not been reported to the mining tool? I have my carrier about 2500 ly out towards the galaxy center and ran across a Tritium Hotspot inside a LTD hotspot. In this I found an LTD core asteroid with Tritium Subsurface deposits. Juicy find... but rare. LTD's appear in Tritium HS and vice versa. So mining this area nets me quite a bit of Tritium (replenishing my Tritium usage) while mining to offset carrier expenses. I mix this with exploration to break the monotony. It isn't Borann Triple LTD spot returns (which I think that triple HS is gone now with the carrier rework), but when I get back to the bubble, I should easily make 300-500 million just in the ltd's alone. There are still like 99+% uncharted systems out there. Unfortunately the only practical way to mine anything outside the bubble is with a carrier. Limpet restock and 25,000 storage of what you find so you can go back out and mine more.
@1027284 жыл бұрын
Apparently the addition of a new element to mine is gonna rejiggle all the hotspots in terms of what they contain, so probably rip borann, hope to have a borann 2.0 rejiggled in the bubble.

Does an anaconda with 320t and 20.24 jump range consider a good mining ship?
@HawkesGaming4 жыл бұрын
Sure but if you can work on engineering your FSD and Power distributor it will be much better. Having a guardian FSD booster in there wouldn't hurt either.
@Zelisius4 жыл бұрын
You can get 40+ jump range unloaded without a guardian booster and roughly 30+ range when fully loaded with 320 tons and have 3 5a collector limpets. Just lightwieght everything and downsize certain parts like the power plant. Just make it overcharged if needed. A size 7d power distributor with charge enhanced can allow you to shoot 3 medium mining lasers just long enough to deplete a rock. D rate life support and sensors as well
@The-Man-On-The-Mountain4 жыл бұрын
I´d like to see an unedited video of that. I have made 320 millions but in about 4 hours. 200 takes me about more than 2 hours. Every youtuber now is saying that 200 in an hour, but I find it really hard to believe, honestly. And I go to Borann, that hot spot, obviously. I am not being bitter or trying to discredit, maybe I do something wrong, but I think I am doing everything right. Maybe with an anaconda and 6 limpets at a time at least. But with a python and 224 tons of capacity, I doubt it. I don´t know...
