Anyone else here revisiting watching all of John’s podcasts since his passing? What an amazing man. We will miss him dearly. I have learned so much from him. Inside and outside the gym, the fitness world lost the truest example of what it is to be a leader. He gave so much to everyone. Thank you, John. Rest In Peace

3 years later and this conversation still delivers more than info, it delivers passion about the craft they mastered and the wisdom they collected is amazing. RIP John Meadows, a true gentleman in the profession.

One can tell that John and David go way back, even though they told us. Dave tries to stay in interviewer mode, but you can feel the bond that they share somewhere between the lines. John is even more relaxed than when he records clips for his own channel, seemingly at ease with Dave. Almost finishing each others sentences. This talk, along with the JM Blakley one, are easily my favorites. Mainly because of the chemistry between Dave and his, but also because of the lack of training discussion. Thank you, Dave. Thank you for these enlightening and affirming conversations. I'll get back to spending time with my family now.

I know that this podcast went unnoticed by a lot of people. But I have to say that this podcast meant a great deal to me, and changed my outlooks on things - thanks to John. If anyone else is watching after John's passing - I think it's universally agreeable that he accomplished his life's legacy @ 2:49:00. Thank you from the bottom of my heart John, for everything you've done for us.

I just listened to this podcast on Spotify and heard him talk about his legacy. I had to watch the video and skip to when he talks about his legacy. It’s surreal to hear him talk about how he hopes people remember him as a good person and father. For someone that never met him, it’s apparent that he definitely will be.

He seems a little bit out of his element with all this unprovoked cursing from the other guy in this interview. John Meadows never curses on camera. The other guy curses casually in random situations where there isn't even cursing needed to emphasize something or whatever, it's just "fuck"this and "bitch" that for no reason

They are old and close friends who understand each other. John, you can see here, would curse on occasion. Dave just curses more often as his own patter. People have individual styles, but they can - and do - still have something to say.

Just stumbled across this in my feed, great video. John was a super nice guy. For what it's worth, as someone who was a friend and fraternity brother of John's in college, I would say he didn't go too crazy with the drinking then. He was pretty moderate by college standards, focused pretty hard on training and actually studied hard, too. He started college pretty young, he was only 17 as a freshman, but always had a pretty good head on his shoulders about taking care of the important stuff first.

Watching this 3 years later and the messages are still relevant, especially at the beginning when John talks about just not being able to help himself in the gym. I ruptured my L5 in my lower back last year and avoided doing dealifts and squats while i was going through treatment....until yesterday. Everything felt good so I did some deadlifts for the first time in about a year. My head was telling me stop at 3 plates but my ego made me carry on to 5. I regret that decision today. The point of this rambling though is when John was talking about it, it reminded me that I'm not the only stupid one out there.

On “faith,” the late great Paul Anderson, a very devout Christian, on a video of his life, stated that everyone should “believe in something,” (my words, but close anyway to what Paul said). Paul Anderson wasn’t at that point saying that everyone should necessarily hold his chosen faith, but that people should hold…maybe a good thought or optimism based upon a “something” greater than themselves. I personally hold that concept, though I waver… Great topic for John and Dave!

the correct way to address that pain like low back after squats is by strengthening the weak links that squats actually make worse. exercises for the low back such as reverse hypers, reg 45 deg hypers, good mornings, glute ham raises, inverse curl, leg curl, and sled drags to strengthen the hips. if you just squat all the time, you'll ruin your hips and have low back pain forever

Dave it think your a fine guy. But really to be honest, for me it felt like it was Dave Tate on the Dave Tate show, with a little bit of meadows haha. I really like John and cherish his advise and knowledge. He’s got a very nice voice and tells stories pleasantly . I would’ve liked to have heard more from John in this show, since he is your guest haha. Anyway, still nice! Meadows must come again! John Meadows is gold. Thanks and greetings from Holland.
