This double standard BS is why the law is getting no respect. It only works one way, from the top down. I could care less if Warren humiliates this guy in public. Who cares, he still skates away with enough money to go on a luxury vacation for the rest of his life, and still leave a small fortune to his children.
@daemn428 жыл бұрын
Woohoo Agreed, but simply not buying one brand of junk food in favor of another, doesn't cost the consumer much of anything. Moving your money and/or debt around costs potentially a lot of money and time. Wells Fargo will feel this hardest exactly where this sales campaign was targeting. If someone has one financial product (like a mortage) with them, they are now *much* less likely to add another (checking, credit cards, LTEs, etc). It boggles my mind that they were trying to get each customer into *eight* financial products. I don't think I've ever had more than 3 at one bank.

To witness these people not get indicted and sentenced but also take hundreds of millions on their way out and not see how it's political, well that is truly ignorant of how very corrupt the system is. I just love it that she always calls a spade a spade - This is a scam. You are lying. You are telling lies. Love Ms Warren so much.

So if he's accountable, why isn't he in prison, in texas, on death row? While we have it we might as well extract some justice from it.
@bomaite18 жыл бұрын
Also interesting is the fact that what may seem like a huge fine to mere mortals is actually only .008% of Wells Fargo's earnings last year. That fine was so punnishing that they didn't even notice it. I think that it would be more instructive for Mr. Stumpf to share a prison cell for a few years with a guy named Garage.

Guys, we have to start using local banks like credit unions, it's the only way to not get completely ripped off
@gagatube4 жыл бұрын
I tried that... a year after I signed up they sent me a letter saying "Congratulations! Xxxx Credit Union is now Xxxx Bank!" and way down the letter in very small font "to provide all the great new financial products we can offer now that we are a bank, we will be introducing a $5 per month account keeping fee". But you are right, I was just unlucky, normally Credit Unions are a good option.

This is not a punishment, its an incentive for other bankers to be corrupt. If somebody told you that a penalty for stealing 100$ is 15$ , you would be doing it too. So you take the risk, and if you get caught, you pay the fine and do it again..

Go visit your local credit union, people; credit unions are non-profit, community-run financial institutions with the same level/amount of Federal financial protection for patrons as corporate banks. If you're worried about ATMs: credit unions cooperate so that you'll actually have more ATMs available to you than with a typical bank, and you can access your credit union account from most other credit unions in the country. Can you access your Bank of America account at a Wells Fargo branch, or use a CitiBank ATM to access your Chase account? No, you can't, but credit unions are different; credit unions are better, and don't compete with your money for profit. Credit unions invest in your neighbors and their businesses. I used to be a Wells Fargo employee, and the week I quit was the week I was finished with big banks; it was a soul-crushing experience, and I felt like I was encouraged to rip people off every day. Every month we had to meet sales goals (as "Sales Associates" at our "Store" according to internal communications) and we were encouraged to get people to sign up for as many "products" as possible to make closing their account(s) as difficult as possible. Direct Deposit, Checking & Savings Accounts, Overdraft Protection, Credit Cards, Personal Lines of Credit, and many more are the "products" we were encouraged to sell. Get out of big banking; it may seem like a pain in the ass, but that's what they want: that's how they get you.
