Ben seems to be a good ol’ boy who was nervous in a room of pros. I think you guys set him up for success, but also keep in mind not everyone is on your level. Picking apart his gear or his technique can really impact a guy’s confidence. We all know how important confidence is in archery. Feeling good equals shooting good. Great video guys keep up the great work!

good point. Also seemed a bit too fast paced for a beginner. They are still getting the basics nailed down and hearing people go off on tangents about this and that doesn't help any... it just becomes overwhelming to them... I know because I was in that position years ago. Tuning talk had me tearing my hair out. Bows are very dynamic and so are our bodies... I have learned that what works for some doesnt always work for everyone... there are general guidelines that you should always start with... but I've gone in circles before trying to force the bow to do something it did not want to do, just because the standard tuning guides said so.... let the bow tell you what it likes. Limb sequencing and form can do strange things sometimes.

HAh!! I have been through almost this EXACT same process (minus the cameras and agitator Dan) with a couple-few archers in the past three or 4 weeks... I run a pre-change test using a home-made shooting machine first to check timing, lean and aimpoint without human interference, then I finish shooting it by hand. Guys are amazed when I show them phone video of their bow breaking nocks after basic tuning of the bow shooting them through the machine, and then replicating by hand. HAND POSITION on the bow is the single most common reason broadheads don't hit with field points. Prove me wrong.

Broadhead tuning can be maddening, last year dialed in a few hours. This year I spent a whole day, to the point I went to my pro shop and had them go over my bow to make sure every thing was right. The bow was fine, so I went home and took the the fletching off and reflected with 4 vanes, and finally was able to get dialed. Thanks for another great video!

I have been a physical therapist for 22 yrs. Those are good exercises. However, i would also suggest Hughston exercises for the parascapular muscles. Especially Y’s for the lower traps as long as u do not compensate with the upper traps! And i would suggest not starting them out with weights because that encourages too much use of the upper trap and the arms need to be positioned more so in the plane of the muscle which is a bit more vertical as well. Also i also suggest push ups in multiple ways but especially with your hands positioned like u would hold your bow if u dont want to do it with your non-bow hand do one handed push ups with your left side or wall push ups if u are right handed. However i would suggest doing both arms and just change your hand position. As far as using bands i suggest making a loop with the band so one hand can push like your bow hand and the other doing the pulling. Also i would suggest u exercise not just specific reps and sets all the time but practice like u would holding a bow. So pull your band back and practice holding and working on those scapular muscles more and initiating the pullback with the scapular muscles first before u engage the whole arm. And also work the serratus anterior at 90 degrees and at 120 degrees. We all are weakest in the lower fibers of the serratus anterior muscles hence working them at 120 deg as well. Awesome! Video! great stuff I hope this just adds a little more to your suggestions for people to gain better bow strength to keep people from having to go the XBows!!! 😉

@GBBLGBL
@GBBLGBL Жыл бұрын
I'd love to see this EXACT same test again BEFORE any micro rest movement by adding a third arrow....a bare shaft! Make sure all three shafts are nock tuned so each arrow leaves the bow bending the same. Don't trust the spine alignment labels. MFJJ always hates on a bare shaft BUT I will bet money that the micro adjustsments to the rest with a bare shaft will be very similar if not identical to those same micro adjustment made for the broadhead tipped arrow in these two tests. Nick from AAE in a previous video was 100% a believer in a bare shaft and so am I. It is VERY rare for me to not get a fixed head to fly to precision after a bare shaft tune. Plus one the best thing a bare shaft shows is FORM FLAWS. To shoot a bare shaft PERFECT at long distance requires PERFECT form AND shot execution. I have a P4 and two V3 29's that shoot PERFECT bare shafts out to 100 yards.

I started off trying to tune 300 up front on 300 spine 29.5in arrows. In the end I ended up with 100 broadhead with the aluminum inserts on a 340 spine (and a bunch of 300, 240, and 300 spine arrows that just wont work). I just could not get a high foc arrow to fly.

@Whitetailwacker37

Left impacting broadhead, when your arrow leaves the bow it starts to the right & as it flexes and the vanes stear your arrow back straight they will typically over correct to the left. So moving your test to the left in this instance would would help stop the amount of your arrow correcting to the left.

This was a perfect video taking a subscribers and going thru his bow. Seemed like the dude wasn't pulling and pushing thru his shot so much ? But whatever he was fairly within the bull so he's kinda perfected his errant ways like most of us hackers have done,myself included. He's young enough to get some instruction from a real good teacher like a Wunderle or Joel Turner. Big as he is, he should be using 90 fucking pounds too,,,,lol 32 inch fucking draw ???? Danny you and me can only DREAM of that. I'd had him on 200 spine and some weight upfront 50 grains or so . But that's me. Not sure i've seen a 32 draw before. Just imagining the damage 32 inch draw can do to a oversized boar hog. Damn I hate being a midget. I like the 5mm move,far better than the 4mm with flanged half outs. Hope this works out well for him and he does well this year. Yakima was where Ljutic trap shotguns were made. Great guns ! Hi, I have a question how do we shoot bullet holes when the arrow is flexing most of the flight. I never could understand this. And of you tune for broadheads and you move the rest to get them to fly close to the same wouldn't you thru out the bullet hole you originally made. I'm 62 years old and been shooting for 45 years and never could figure these things out. Thanks for the video and your knowledge. Happy and safe hunting. Ralph D.

I'm no pro but I found there is some wiggle room with your bullet hole when making these micro adjustments. After I micro adjusted my rest for broadheads I went back to a bareshaft thru paper and still got my bullet hole. If getting a bullet hole at 3 yards meant a perfect tune none of this would be needed. It's the "wiggle room" where the broadhead magnifies anything other than the arrow coming dead straight out of your bow. Assuming your spine is correct and the rest of your bow is good to go. My 2 cents for what it's worth.

So you are saying to adjust your rest away from the field points? I've always been told to bring your broadheads to the field points. You are saying if broadhead is right move rest right?

I’m new to a compound. Been shooting a week. When sighting in my scope I couldn’t tell if my grip kept effecting my left or right. Sometimes I would hit what I’m aiming at then it would be off even if I really focused on my grip. I tested my micro hades and those things are loud

There are many many factors that affect left and right impacts. Face pressure, grip torque, nock tuning, timing, nock fit, and probably more than that

From my fixed blade experience, this makes way more sense than what Dudley said in his video. Maybe that's why he disabled comments (but is still collecting ad revenue)

After paper tuning through adjustments of rest and loop, why would it make sense to move these to take it out of tune? If the broadhead shoots differently, just adjust the sight and keep your bow in tune.

Paper tuning is just a base line. Broadheads are when you truly fine tune.

When you move the rest to tune broad heads will that now change your results when shooting though paper, I see a lot of videos where people put a massive amount of effort to get a perfect bullet hole only to move the rest when trying to get their bare shafts to hit the same place their fletched arrows hit, I'm not sure weather to put the effort into paper tuning or bare Shaft tuning, I was thinking you would be better to make the effort getting a perfect bullet hole in paper with a bare Shaft to get the best broad head flight.

Papertuning/Bareshaft tuning are just a starting point and are done say from 3-5 yds. your broadhead tuning at 20yds plus and what is dialed close n will need micro adjustment further out.
@tonyallen8626

@@caninphx that's the mistake that I think most people make is they only shot through the paper at close distances instead of going back to 6 to 7 metres and getting bullet hole with a bare Shaft .

I think it depends on the initial setup. I'm assuming that the bow is in spec and has been tuned. I personally set my bows up in the following sequence. Eyeball center shot, arrow thru CL of berger hole, paper tune from 3' & 6', modified french tune, then walk back tune once my pins are set. FTR: I've always moved my BH towards my FP.....been woking fine for the last 25 years That said, make micro adjustments, if the gap is widening between the BH & PF, move the other direction. I can see moving the rest towards the arrow poi if it hasn't been set up correctly. I'm just a hunter, not a tuner.....but it's been working fine for me for the past 25 years. Also, some BH fly like dog crap as well, I had some slick tricks the absolutely would not group past 30 yards. I know my Exodus fly with my PF out to 80yrds

I used to die hard paper tune but could never get fixed blades tuned. Then I found out about french/ walk back tuning. Wow did that make life easier.
