I’m glad that Easton is doing the half out. I’ve tried the HIT system, followed the directions to a ‘t.’ Every insert ended up coming loose. I replaced those with the half out inserts, and I couldn’t be happier.

The FOC comments, we actually do see some higher FOC’s in target arrows… 200 grain points for indoor 27’s… Also a lot of target shooters increase their point weight for less wind deflection….

Best shaft ever so far. Already have them, already proving themselves to be the best. Not to mention, the hit collars, the inserts, are incredibly consistent in weight, and are also super straight right out of the gate (not much work to get these arrows match grade in every aspect)… A true game changer, in the sense you can create an arrow of almost any weight that is way more durable and consistent. Honestly, it comes to the components more than the shaft itself. We all knew Easton had this in the works, and it doesn’t disappoint. You can create anything, to hunt everything out of this one shaft, bar none.

I shoot a 340 at 65lb and 70lb with a 27” draw length. I also cut my arrows at 25.5” if I use hit style components which I glue all in as one piece. If I use an outsert like a podium I cut down to 25” Everything seems to fly and group great out at 100. I’ve built the same arrow in a 300 and nothing changed but reducing my max range on tape due to arrows weighing more. Group identical

Stupid question; if you fletch all the same color and it’s not spine aligned, does having a cock vane matter? Or do you just turn 1 up in line with the string and always have 2 down?
@sheyanderson437121 күн бұрын
Even though Easton says you don't have to nock tune, some still do. If you do, nock tune before fletching, then mark the shaft and nock to place your vanes accordingly (mark a line across the end of the shaft and beginning of nock on top). If you don't care to nock tune, just place whatever vane you want up, so you have the most clearance. If you have a wonky arrow, rotate it to the other 2 vanes and see which orientation flies best. (Not a stupid question at all)
@MatroniFitness21 күн бұрын
@ interesting. I’ve ran victory prior so I just did spine aligned as my one color and always put it up. Sometimes I’d rotate it to the right some so it cleared my cables and never touched it after. On my hunting set it seemed like my cock vane being directly aligned to the string flew the best. Interesting to know that I can just do all the vanes same color and just nock it in any orientation. How could I nock tune without having vanes? Bare shaft thru paper?
@sheyanderson437120 күн бұрын
@@MatroniFitness I shoot Victory and use the spine align as well, but I know several that shoot Easton. They bareshaft nock tune in paper first before fletching. If you buy pre-fletched, don't waste those fletches. Just group tune them and any that are off, nock tune each vane to see if it helps. If some still aren't grouping right, you can nock tune between fletches. As long as you have clearance and don't mind all cock vanes not being up, they will work until you decide to re-fletch.
@MatroniFitness20 күн бұрын
@@sheyanderson4371 interesting. Wonder how bad it’ll be if I just fletch them and shoot them. I got the match grade tips / collars / shafts. I need to learn how to tune etc. admittedly I had my shop set me up and it’s been shooting great. But with poundage increase, new shafts, weight, etc I prolly need to be reset up. I don’t have a draw board / press / tuner.
@sheyanderson437120 күн бұрын
@@MatroniFitness Not everyone has the means or time to build and tune their own stuff, so don't worry about that. That's what the shops are there for and if they are a good one, they will have no problem taking the time helping you out. With a poundage change and new arrows, it wouldn't hurt to have them double check your tune. If it was already tuned and shooting well before, it won't take them long to re-tune and get you going. If you just want to get out shooting asap, you are good just to match up the labels and fletch them all up identically to start out. Again, if you have bad flyers you can nock tune on the spot and just deal with un-aligned vanes. If you have a hunt coming up, make sure you shoot broadheads on all of them and pick out the best ones.

Just like guys saying that you know about the clock their Arrow you know a lot of people believe in that man if you spin a string right and you serve it right it's going to throw the arrow left 99% of the time if the arrow has to stop in the mid air to be corrected by the fletchings does it affect the accuracy?

Do you think you could ever get away with a HIT insert using the iron will type hot melt?? My onlyy gripe with the epoxy they use or super glue is it wont come out if you want to change something with components. I ruined 2 match grade arrows couple years ago trying to get components out that were epoxied in with their epoxy.
@mgrundy20 күн бұрын
I've done it. It's messy and you have to take some extra precaution to not overheat the HIT tool, and also clean it immediately after each shaft is inserted, to ensure the depth is consistent each time.

@ yeah the depth thing with the hot melt is what worries me since it can set so quickly…i know iron will makes a metal tool for it as well which may be worth getting if i go that route. Its common sense. It doesnt have to be insanely light and even if it is just put all the weight up front…i run a 465gr VAP SS 29.5 inch draw, ethics insert and collar, 165 grain total up front with point…and thats about as light as i can get that arrow while having 15.5% FOC. The rep from Easton really misrepresents the point of FOC high FOC is for what happens when you hit the animal not what happens in the air. The 383 arrow ain't doing crap if it comes anywhere close to bone. Arrows like that are why we find broadheads embedded in shoulders of elk and deer every year... Edits:typos
@Growbrojay21 күн бұрын
Tell me you don't know crap about FOC without telling me you don't know crap lmfao. Wow. higher FOC leads to a more stable arrow trajectory, especially at longer distances. "FOC" stands for "Front of Center," which refers to the percentage of an arrow's total weight that is located in the front half of the arrow, essentially indicating how far forward the arrow's center of balance is positioned. a higher FOC means more weight is concentrated towards the arrow's point, it's considered to promote better arrow stability in flight, particularly for longer shots especially in bow hunting.

@@Growbrojay yeah the whole point of a high FOC arrow if you've read any of the Ashby studies is because they have better penetration at the same arrow weight. If you have two arrows weighing 500 grains one with 20% FOC and one with 15% FOC, The 20% FOC arrow is going to penetrate further and have a higher likelihood of a pass through than the 15%. Go look at all the research Ed Ashby has done alongside the Ashby foundation. In bow hunting I'm far more concerned with what happens after the arrow makes contact with the animal. The arrow with higher FOC being more stable and less prone to wind deflection is a great benefit, but in hunting it's not the primary purpose or benefit.
