If there’s anyway at all you guys can go Hello Kitty on his bow I really think it will be next level. FWIW I’ve got 3 of those Bitz jigs, all setup exactly the same and only one produces the most beautiful vanes. It’s able to put it just a little more twist in those vanes than the other two.

Another awesome video! Great job!! I believe the 75x105 was popular when you didn't have drop away rests and risers that were cut-out, because you would have less disturbance from feathers striking rest or riser. Better clearance. Still popular today for traditional bows where feather still contact riser while being shot. I still have four Bitzenburgers in use from 1980!

OK, I can't wait to see the advanced arrow testing that JJ is talking about doing. Inquiring minds want to know. I'm sticking with the EZ Fletch Mini Max... nothing better or easier. And if the parachute effect is a concern for TAC, you can always use a lower profile vane (since you're using field points anyway)

I love your informative content, I’m constantly learning something from you guys. You guys should do 100 yard vane accuracy comparisons with a hooter shooter indoors at a warehouse somewhere. Compare accuracy versus speed. Compare different helical’s all fired on the exact same arrow build. I would love to see you do some thing like that. Keep up the good work you guys are awesome!

2 things. First great video, please do more of these for the at home DIY people. Would also love to see a review or list of equipment you think most people should have at home. Personally, I am in the market for a bow vise for doing some home tuning and would love some information about what I should be looking for, what's recommended, etc. Second, just a bit of criticism (sorry), when filming things like this where you are explaining and showing people how to do things, show what you are doing more than focusing so close on people's faces.

I also own both of the AAE Bitz knobs...the 344 and the 456 They are incredible! I would like to add one very important point of the AAE knobs is if you bare shaft and index your nocks the knob allows you to loosen a lock screw. Then turn the arrow (without turning the nock) to perfectly line up your index mark with the cock vane on a 120 x 3 or perfectly line up the center of a 90 x 4. It's an awesome feature. Wouldn't it be great to have a jig that as you adjust the jig you could have micro click in 1/2 degree increments left or right?

One thing I do with my jig that I have been fletching arrows with since about 1978 is mark the starting point on the knob that rotates the arrow. That way, any minor differences in arrow position created by the mechanism itself is repeated fletch by fletch on every arrow. Probably not a big deal, but eliminates another potential inconsistency between arrows.

MFJJ my dude. Just use the LabRadar (Ballistic Velocity Doppler Radar Chronograph) to show the speed degradation of the arrows. You could make some pretty sweet graphs showing the speeds at 20,40,60 etc. That way you can test bare shafts vs 2 degree, vs heavy helical.

If you get the archery trigger for the labradar, it is very accurate. The problem with shooting thru a regular chrono at distance is you have a tiny window to try and hit to get consistent readings. There is a small middle section you need to hit every time, any deviation from the "sweet spot" causes irregular readings. You can test it by shooting up close and shooting towards the top of the supports, then shoot low, left and right. Been deep down that rabbit hole lol. The archery trigger is key to the labradar though, without it i got funky readings too.

using different jigs (4 or 5 of the arizona jigs being used on a dozen arrows to save time) opens up an opportunity for inconsistency arrow to arrow. It's not sensical to save time at this step when using superglue anyway. Aligning each fletch on each arrow exactly alike is your best opportunity at having repeatable downrange accuracy.

Isn't there a flaw with the string making industry? If the arrow naturally rotates left with Righthand twist string and unscrews the field point then......ding, ding, ding......why the hell don't the string makers do a Lefthand twist string so it tightens the field point. Or atleast offer the option for who ever wants to buy it RH or LH twist!

I use a Labradar and can measure arrow speed at 100 yards easy enough. It will pick up speeds raight out of the bow and I can set 3 more distances of my choosing to record FPS. If I remember the lighter arrows (under 500 gr) were slower at the bow but more equal at the 100 yard range,,,, they maintained more momentum.

1) Thought- IF... the arrows Naturally come off the bow turning CCW, (LH fletch) - correct? Then wouldn't a RH fletch provide a stronger straightening effect due to more air resistance immediately upon leaving the bow than a LH fletch? Imo, This effect would be appreciated most on a less than perfect release. Thoughts? Nice video guys. T.Y. Possible DISadvantage of a RH fletch- more susceptible to deflection for a longer distance upon release because it will take longer to overcome lh rotation reach max RH rpm and max stability. Ever tested this? Thoughts?

I am a Bitzenburger fletcher. It bothers me for my 3 fletch to be uneven. 120,120,120 should look uniform from the back end but more times than not with small diameter shafts it is not uniform. But I did something to my Bitzenburger jig that has made my 3 fletch more uniform. I built the V that holds the shaft up opposite the nock receiver. I put multiple layers of black tape on each side of the V until the top of the shaft is running parallel with the bottom of the magnets.

I have and tried two different models of the Arizona tool. It was so easy for a vane to end up not 100% correct no matter which vanes I used. I went to the. Cheap $30? red plastic Bohning with different clamps for experimenting. Yes it’s slow even with instant glue but every vane is exact. But, it’s like loading my own bullets- never in a rush. I’ve never understood why their are so many that profess they hate building arrows. Duh! The single most relevant part of archery!

Hi there, Maybe Lab radar can save you some building.. At least Ranch Fairy and some other guy used it. It takes initial speed of the arrow and 50 yard speed.. I do not know how accurate it is, but I think this should be used more, when you are testing the arrow speed.. It will give a better idea how Fletching effects the speed at the other end. :))

I love my Bitzenburger arrow jig, the only problem is that if you want your nock fletch in the up position (different color nock fletch) you have to rotate your nock approximately 33*. The problem is when you damage a fletch and try to replace it with the Bitzenburger, you'll to remember exactly where you originally had the nock. Other than that, it's a great fletching tool. I know I'm not as smart as MFJJ, that is why I watch all of his videos and elk shape videos. Looking forward to what is the best offset straight, 2% offset or the 6%. Thanks for all the info!!

DCA CUSTOM ARROWS does the vane alignment wrap deal. They also do a super sabre vane. Ive got some and built a set for a buddy of mine. He loved them just because they were different. White vane with bohning white tiger stripe wrap

Gotta say you redeemed and MFJJ is now my favorite watch. Both of you** Middle of the road is where I’m learning between @ranchfairy and what you guys are. Pigs are different musculature. But I’ve never shot an elk. Good old commercial hunting hasn’t brought them back. *so they say.

I’ve fletched with just about all of them. The Bitz is absolutely a legendary design and has fletched millions of arrows. The last chance is the only way to go this day and age. It’s easy and has the most flexibility. Save your money and get one

I’m a visual learner, if someone you’re filming is talking about or showing specific parts of bows or equipment, can you film the specific part instead of their face? I’m enjoying the content and the improvements you’ve made along the way!

Hey JJ, it's pernounceed Cyano-ACRY-late. This comes from the use of CyanoACRYLIC Acid in the production of the glue.

What vanes and angle/offset would you recommend for 65lbs 28.5” draw, with magnus stinger buzz cut? I have heat vanes right now had some real odd arrow flights during practice over 30 yards.

Over the last thirty plus years I’ve experimented with I don’t know how many vanes, arrow brands and spines, points and fixed blade heads. I’ve never used a mechanical as there’s no physical reason to use them. And when I change to different shafts I experiment more. It’s a game in my mind. And to win is getting super awesome flight out of each shaft.

Ok explain a little more about how to know direction my bow is naturally spinning left or right before vains. Hopefully there is a way to do this at home. The arrow is travelling to fast to see direction.

Tac vanes with Firenock jig, you can’t go big offset or crazy helical. Same issue as the bitz. You do need to grind down the bitz helical Jig though to make it work

As you said in the video, helical jigs are only perfect for one arrow diameter and angle. Anything else is just an offset of the clamp helical. If you want true helical (any angle) matched to your shaft diameter try some Easy Vanes. Or get a 3d printer and make them yourself like I do. No jig needed.

I used the Arizona jig all the time to fletch my arrows , but at long distance (75 yard +) I think I am getting a little bit of parachuting and I think it slowing down the arrow . Is any one else getting this issue ? FOC is around 16% thanks
