The victim was literally playing in the middle of traffic. Any potential sailor passing could have hit her. I don't think any charges will follow. She was in the wrong. If she was a minor, then whoever allowed her out there is partly responsible as well. Regardless of the circumstances, this is a tragedy and a travesty.

Please investigate the boat that was towing Ella Adler. How long was the second girl being towed until she fell? How far away were they from Ella Adler when the second girl fell? How long was Ella Adler waiting for the boat to pick her up? Had the towing boat not even turned around yet?

Everybody is commenting on his age. Just look at the video with his attorney he can barely walk. What about his sight? His hearing? Yeah sure everyone is different but seeing this guy my first thought was he shouldn’t be out in that boat alone.

A 78 year old out on a big boat alone is a little dangerous. No one to spot people in the water or other boats nearby.

Nope. I think you paint with a very broad brush. I know 2 Sailors who both are in their 80's. These guys race 3 times a week. They compete with Sailor's half their age and some in their 20's and 30's. The guys in their 80's are always finishing in 1st, 2nd, or 3rd place.

Skiing in a bay right next to thoroughfare channel is even more dangerous. Add to that towing 2 boarders at the same time and you're really pushing it.

I guess some folks hear 78 and must think feeble and blind. My dad turns 80 in a few months and was swinging a pick axe this week digging a foundation for a stone wall he’s building. He still chops wood, gets under cars, pushes wheelbarrow loads up a long hill to the top of our property, etc. He’s in excellent health and great physical and mental condition. I know 40 year old’s I’d trust way less to captain a boat.

@@TheSaturnVAnd the boarders apparently didn’t know that when the first one drops, the second one needs to drop immediately too. That, along with some other details, lead me to believe this was a terrible case of over confidence with novice boaters. Either that or pure negligence.
