My natural color is a light ashy brown, level 6 and for 15 years I had it highlighted with long layers. In 2019 I chopped it to my shoulders and cut blunt bangs. A year later I dyed it a very dark brown and with the blunt bob it looked so sophisticated and chic. Husband and kids didn’t love it but I did!! The past two years I had a lot of grays coming in and the darker color made it more noticeable and I got tired of needing to touch up roots monthly. Now I’m back to my natural color with long, highlighted layers and no bangs lol. It’s lower maintenance because my hair is wavy and I can go without blow drying; the grays blend into the highlights so I can go 4 months between salon visits. Point being, have fun it’s only hair and through changes we can explore different facets of our personality. Glad to see you with a new style!

I regret getting the trendy Bob. I learned for my body type in the Kibbe system that the soft classic body type’s recommendation is no shorter than shoulder length. It’s true. I felt like an alien and I’m still growing it out. Also the ends were cut in a way that the outer layer is shorter than the inner layers. A blunt cut suits me way better. Aly Art on KZbin explains the Kibbe body types really well.

I regret chopping mine off last year. I didn’t realize that my hair texture has started to change within the last couple of years. As soon as I cut off 12 inches… I cut off the weight that was making the newer hair growth manageable. The shoulder length hair I had left was more coarse and unruly texture. I hate aging!!!

Yes I just cut 2 inches!! Half of my hair is now flat and the rest is kinky short gray hair, aging definitely changes your hair ❤

Thanks for sharing! I discovered long ago that my long hair is just a part of who I am, not only the look of it but the function of it. The few times I dared to cut it were very upsetting to me & miserable bc it took so long to grow back out to my normal comfortable long length. And I’m a former hair stylist! It is rare for hair stylists to not experiment with new cuts & trends. So my alternative, still at age 59, to keeping my length but having a little versatility is always having variations of bangs & face framing layers… So I have fun with every kind of bang style from baby bangs to curtains & that is enough cutting for me. By long hair function I mean being able to do braids buns & ponytails…which are my everyday quick fixes! Bangs are a good option for those like me who want to keep long hair but be able to change it up a little.

Perfect timing for me with this video!! I'm 74 have fairly long hair and am considering a big cut. I wouldn't be so hesitant if I knew I could grow it back but with my age that's likely not to happen. Friends urge me to cut it but they are mostly older and I think a bit jealous. Only one friend has a cut I think is flattering, the others are looking frumpy as seniors. Would love to get to SF and see you!!

I’m senior too, have found you can still have some length and youthful movement if hair reaches the shoulder. Movement and shine keeps it perky.

Having long hair in my family has been more of a cultural thing so I was never able to cut it short. Only ever had trims. Now at 25 I’ve been wanting to go short, but my dad has been battling cancer for a few years and now it’s like I don’t want to cut it because I want him to remember me with my long hair, which he has always loved. I’ve mentioned it a few times and he says that I can do whatever I want with it, but the thought of cutting it short and him passing away..idk why it’s just a big deal to me.

@ellebangs I've been seeing my hair stylist for 15 years, and in the past 2 months she DRAMATICALLY raised her prices without any notification. To put it into perspective, lifting my base color, doing a little less than half a head of foil highlights and a trim cost me a little over 200. I was charged $310 for the exact same thing except far FEWER foils (around 12) last month. On top of this, trimming/hair cuts have never been her strong suit with me - but I always liked my color. The past year, my color hasn't been as good as its been in the past. It's a scary thought to try to find someone else because I don't want a disastrous color experience and I don't have the recipe she uses. However, I also can't keep paying the new high prices she's charging me. Can you tell me: is the sudden price increase normal, what's a more affordable way to achieve a light bright blond look in the salon (my natural base is a medium brown), and how to speak with my stylist about the price increase etc?

I chopped my waist length blonde hair to a long bob last summer and I’m growing it out again, but I’m so happy I did it! I had a really bad time with a close friendship that ended and I wanted something completely different to kind of mirror the change I was going through internally. The weight of my hair being cut off felt sooo good and gave me a little reset. Now I feel much more positive and I’ve moved on in life, now I can go back to my long locks that I love so much 💛

I've regretted almost every hair cut I have had. It seems like we chop & color much more when we're young. Anyway, as a result I don't cut my hair. It's way too long but I can pull it up in a top knot, pony etc. Long hair can be very versatile. I should add that I inherited my Gram's very curly kinky hair so a bob is hilarious on me.

I’m on chemotherapy currently. (My 3rd time in 30 yrs) I just chopped 9” off of my “trademark” very long, straight, low-maintenance, balayage blonde, all-one-length “surfer-hippie-chick” hairstyle that I always end up going back to, cuz it just FEELS like ME! I’m all abt about natural & easy. Very surfer / boho-Hippie-esque. Wash n’ go. No products, heat or styling. I’ve tried many lengths, colors, etc, but this one just feels like “home” to me. I just chopped 9” off, a few weeks ago, cuz abt 4-5” of my ends were getting thin & frazzled looking. But, I also know, from past chemo, that it will continue thinning and falling out, so I plan to cut more as I go & just have fun with it & try some crazy fun hair colors, cuts & ideas, since I’m in this spot anyway. My ONLY worry, this time, is that I’m quite a bit older now (47) & I feel like it won’t grow back to what I totally want it to be again, after chemo. The last times, I was in my early 20’s & early 30’s, so I just went with it & had fun. It grew back thick & long. But, I am worried, this time, that I won’t get the option of knowing it will get back to my long, thick “signature style” I know & love!? Any suggestions for people like me? Ur current cut in this video is super cute! Also, any products or info that u can suggest for hair during & after chemo?? I won’t hold u to it. Just open. My hair is very similar to ur hair, but less styling for me. Thank you so much for ur videos! 🙏🏼🥰🤍

Do you have trouble getting your clients back to the hair color that they like once they start going gray? I started having a lot of gray on the top Ever since we’ve just had the hardest time finding a tone that doesn’t end up glowing on the top and then being darker on the bottom even with placing the foils the same way it’s hard to explain but it’s just so so so so light on the top and then looks normal as we go down … I did a consult with you during Covid and I was doing my own hair at home and you told me to use the 09P shades eq and I love it whenever it’s the only toner but it’s just not working the same now that the hair is graying on top ….Do you have any tips and tricks for what I could tell my hairdresser I’m trying to achieve I mean I just wanted it to look like it always has but I know gray Is different

I cut my hair a time or two as a kid and hated it. I used to go on about how much i hate my hair short and itll never happen cause i like being able to do stuff with it. Ever since i was 20 weeks pregnant with my son (whos now almost 4) I've been keeping it short. Then i try to grow it out again, and i get fed up with it, and cut it short once it gets right past my shoulders. Now I'm trying to grow it out some more since i just cut it back in december, and im debating on getting it trimmed again lol. I never regret it, because its more manageable and cheaper to take care of. But i used to have nice long hair and i some what miss it. I also think it looks better shoulder length. My pony tale looks better and healther. I'm also debating on fringe. Its been years since I've done that.

I lost all of my hair from chemo. I always had very long layered hair. It's now growing back and of course shorter in front than the back. I've had it trimmed 3 times to have layers and to get rid of the chemo curls and now have almost shoulder length. This is the most awkward length to deal with! Its in my collar, it's in my face, it's just awful. BUT! I'm going to get better and now am focused on hair again. Now all I need to do is learn how to curl it in waves for more body. I need to watch your videos on how to get some soft waves in this goofy hair!

I had a stylist cut all mine off and it devastated me!!! I showed her a picture for the color I wanted and told her I wanted to color my roots because of all the hrey hair and she didn’t listen to me at all. It was before I became a barber and why I did, I didn’t know what it consisted of and never would have did it if I did because I did not want bleach at all anyways she was like so how much are you thinking you want off I said um well I didn’t think of that because I don’t like to cut my hair I just want it colored and she goes ugh like breathed in quick and loud and said ok well I was thinking this much and she held my braid up she already cut it before she even asked me I cried the entire time and then when we got done I was like omg all the grey is still here that’s the only reason I wanted it colored because I’m embarrassed of the grey so she said it’s fine I can cover it it took like 8 hours it sucked and I still hate that my hair was cut. It was past the bottom of my butt by a few inches and she cut it right below my shoulders and it’s felt horrible ever since. It feels like there is no elasticity at all when it gets wet it’s and even after the years it’s never gotten back to normal it still feel really unhealthy and that was the only time I ever put chemicals on it and ironically I don’t think it was the bleach that killed it but the round brush I think she stretched it too much round brushing it because my hair was so wet and my entire body was going with it because it was pulling it so bad

I'm curious why you post these teasers, which cause KZbin to place a blue dot next to your channel in my subscriptions list, indicating new content is available to watch, when the content isn't actually available yet? Then when I go to your channel, KZbin removes the blue dot, thinking I've viewed the new content. I don't want to click the "notify me" button, because I don't want any notifications. When I feel like watching KZbin videos and catching up with my subscribed channels (which I do a few times a week), I just look at my channel list and go to those that have the blue dot. I guess I'm just saying it would be nice if you could just post the new video when you're ready for us to watch it, instead of posting a teaser in advance. I'm probably the only one who feels this way though, so you can just ignore my comment and carry on. I love your content and do get excited when there's something new I can actually watch. The teasers are a let down (made you look! but no, there's nothing to watch) and seem counterproductive (blue dot disappears), but if they're actually good for business, again, just ignore my whining.

I think this is the first time I’ve gotten this feedback on the preview feature. I was recommend to do it. As a KZbinr I think it’s important to adhere to a specific post date but it doesn’t necessary always make sense for us to post the video on that day. It’s a great feature to be able to schedule our content. I don’t necessarily gain anything from previewing except maybe the possibility of someone seeing the post for the video before it’s posted and it’s something they want to watch, they’ll come back to watch it. With the algorithm if you don’t see a new video that day it is posted my video most likely will not be shown to you again. I am very open to your feed back on this and whether hiding the video until posted is what’s preferred amongst the majority of you. 🤍🤍
