There have actually been a couple of celebrities who were guests on her show, who've publicly stated that they were treated horribly by Ellen. Anne Hathaway said that Ellen made her extremely uncomfortable and I remember seeing a video where she talked about it at the time. After about a year, the video along with any mention of Anne's comments, just disappeared from the internet and I think there was some funny business involved in that. Now, all you can find are positive stories about their interactions. There's also a very popular trans KZbinr named Nikkie DeJager/NikkieTutorials (makeup/beauty influencer) who went public with her thoughts about her appearance on the show. She actually went on a popular talk show in her native Holland and ripped Ellen up one side and down the other, over the way she was treated, especially during the time while she was waiting to go on and also during the show, when the cameras weren't rolling.

I went to a lot of talk show tapings while I lived in LA including Ellen, Jimmy Kimmel, James Corden, The Talk and Steve...Ellen was the rudest of all the hosts and did ignore the audience between takes. Steve and Jimmy Kimmel were the best at acknowledging and talking to the guests when the camera was off. Having said that, I did manage to get Ellen tickets to the 12 days of giveaways and got a bunch of free stuff so that made up for it for me lol

I kinda liked her comedy back in the day when I watched a lot of comedy. I think Ellen's contribution was that reaction we were all feeling in that moment. When we watch reaction videos today, it's kind like a throwback to that style of physical comedy, I think. Carson and Letterman, Eddie, Martin, Kevin. She just leaned on it more.

I'm not some Ellen fan. But she is actually a solid comedian. She has great timing, and is super expressive in her facial expressions. Her show in the 90s was funny, if not amazing. What catapulted her to true celebrity icon was an episode of the show where her character accidentally outs herself as gay. But it was Ellen actually coming out to the world. She is just caught up in nonsense. It happens to people. I hate the youtubers making these sensationalized videos as much as I hate the celebrities that clearly aren't perfect people. We need a world with much more understanding and empathy, and less scrutiny.
