I used the sample you added to my last purchase of this soap. I couldn’t get online fast enough to order this scent. Just the scent of this sitting in dish made my own shower smell great. It was such a surprise burst of fall when I used it. I was shocked at wonderful it smells even on the skin for a little while afterwards of using it.

They are gorgeous! I made 2 batches of pumpkin soap recently. One I used the pumpkin purée and the second I used a pumpkin powder. My fragrance pumpkin spice accelerated too. Maybe the cinnamon in the fragrance is the issue. The recipe you gave for the frosting, would that be good to use to make embeds. You have me hooked on the column embeds.

Hey! So how much pumpkin purée did you put in and how much lye? It doesn’t say in your recipe. Thank you! Soap looks wonderful.
@EllenRuthSoap11 ай бұрын
The recipe was what I used for the embeds and piping, it didn't have any pumpkin in it. When I do a puree in soap, I take a portion of the liquid volume from the lye solution to make room for it.

Soo cute.. did you mention which green colorant you used? I got distracted and may have missed it.. Also- unrelated.. do you have any suggestion for a good Apple or Apple spice FO?

The green is Pine mica from BeScented. Apple scents can be tricky, WSP and Natures Garden have a couple of good ones.

Love this video, Ellen! Now I'm inspired to make a batch of pumpkin soap ♥. I also agree with what you said about rancidity. It's amazing how lye-based soaps with natural and organic ingredients don't go rancid. I used a whole banana and some coconut milk in a 2 and a half pound batch that I made in January and I still have some bars from that batch left, and it didn't go bad. I had kept some bars because I was intrigued about it growing beasties, and it's a good thing that it didn't! 😇 And you're right about not using too much of an organic ingredient. We don't want our precious oils and butters going to waste over an experiment with food stuff ☺

@@EllenRuthSoap Thank you! You might want to try it, but in my experience, I wouldn't recommend it for people with dry or sensitive skin because it's like a moderately strong exfoliant and after using it for like a week or two, it'll make the top layer of your skin shed... but it's nice. Has a creamy bubbly lather. Maybe finish off with a body butter ☺

Hi Ellen! Do I have to cook my freshly cut pumpkin?
@EllenRuthSoap11 ай бұрын
I think raw pumpkin would be too hard to get a smooth puree on, so it would leave chunks...
@CherylGutmann11 ай бұрын
Cooking fresh pumpkin is easy. I used to bake them, but found a recipe to cook pumpkins in an instant pot, so much easier. Just Google cooking pumpkins, and you will find how to do it. I have used my cooked fresh pumpkin in soap, and it works well.
