Joel did it for himself, the Fireflies would have done it for humanity. There's the difference between the two betrayals.

Except fungal infections cannot be cured in reality She wouldve died for nothing And he did the right thing He couldnt lose another daughter If you are a parent you should understand his reason

@@gergopiroska5749 who says that fungal infections can't be cured?😂 just a simple search before leaving a comment plz

I will respectfully disagree (Fireflies part). I agree the intent is noble from the doc but even if they successfully created a cure then this group would have a monopoly on it. Imagine the amount of leverage you’d have! Joel was being a dad & he ain’t the type to give up his family no matter how short sighted he might be about it.

Even if Ellie would have died in the hospital think about were they was gonna get the resources to make all that medicine. Then the disease is global so this process will take years and years upon getting every last zombie which in my opinion they'll never get every single last one, then what about rebuilding everything over again. On top of that your gonna have ppl that don't want everything to go back to normal so they're gonna do everything in their power to stop the cure think on that.Joel definitely made the right choice as a father stand point yea it was selfish but worth it cause he got to get his second chance.

Considering how cordyceps works in real life the people probably still are in there somewhere & cant control themselves...at least in the early stages

As a child Ellie didn’t have the ability to consent so it wasn’t her choice either.

Ain’t no such thing as consent in the Apocalypse

@@tommyelliot302 that’s true but the truth of it is that children don’t have the means to contextualize certain decisions. She can’t know what the right thing to do is if you put the fate of humanity in her hands and tell her to choose. She isn’t more qualified than anyone else to make that choice.
