I used a lil, red barn pop up piston in a husky 272 rebuild. It had alot of piston slap at operating temp so i ened up going back to the stock piston with no problems at all. I would be leaving the piston in that 80 considered its got very good compression. Personally I would pull it down, clean up the scoring an any sharp edges on the original piston then replace the rings if they have any scoring. It will be interesting to see the wear on the piston skirt an scoring when you pull it down. Take care, Mark.

Hey Leon. Overall nice shape SP80 mate. The 3 shoe clutch tells me that is an early SP80. Heads up, the starter screen for that saw will most likely be different than all the other 10 series saws. Also, if you choose to put a LRB piston in that saw, you may wish to utilize/re-use all Mac bearings & wrist pin. Shoot me a msg if ya like. Should build back into a real nice saw. 👍🏻

Do you have a vid on the oiler system on these SP 80/81. I can’t find info on some of the finites. Is the oil vented? I have 81 and 55pro Mac and the caps aren’t vented.
