I would do this trade if salary is retained and the price is okay. Yes the contract is too long and Z is not a top 4 guy but the Canucks are missing his presence. He stabilized the D and gave this team some bite. Any one who has watched the Canucks this year knows there is something wrong.

Hopefully Zadorov has some epiphany and realized how good he had it in Vancouver.... that the grass isn't always greener on the other side. Is Nikita a great top-4? Not really... but he is definitely an NHL regular who can play top-4 minutes when needed... whereas Desharnais seems to be having problem just a regular NHLer. If the Canucks can maybe swap Desharnais for Zadorov (plus something extra for taking on more salary), I'd say the Canucks should do it.

The whole point of not signing him was that his contract was too much and he’s never been a top 4 regular. He’s not gotten off to a good start in Boston, so there should be red flags all around this. I liked him when he was here, but we just got out of a similar contract with Myers, who signed his contract at the same age.
