For example in Okinawa, Japan, the locals eat a diet that’s greater than 95% plant based (all meats are less than 1%) and experienced famine where they survived thanks to the sweet potato. People are plant based because they’re in poverty. I’m a sick-unemployed vegan from a working class poor family and I wouldn’t say my diet is a privilege other than the fact I get to choose it. Which all animal eaters do, unless they’re children forced to eat animals. So I would say being vegan is not a privilege, the most cheapest food on earth is vegan ie rice.

Of course a city like Tokyo isn’t mostly plant based xD if even a little bit 😅 Yesss I luuurve Indian food! Shame most dishes in the UK have been contaminated with animal corpse but I can still get a good plant based curry or two from local suburban Indian takeaways in Wales :D I will agree, vegan meats can be expensive but in my 4 years vegan, that’s only for luxury vegan meets. And even they are roughly similar to if not a little more expensive than corpse. Animals are mass murdered which brings the cost down and their bodies are used for multiple things. Sometimes their flesh sold as meat is a byproduct of a different, original purpose. I love savoury and umami, so I love vegan meats and I eat often. I get from a food bank and buy great, cheap frozen and fresh from the supermarket. As a old fan(sadly) it hurts me, i always knew he was an asshole but i thought he was at least an smart asshole. My friend who very much likes me. We met up the other day and he out if no where brought up the vegan thing. He was spitting random stuff and was really getting angry. I kept calm and just wanted run away with how upset he got just because i didnt agree. I hated it. I tried changing the subject but he kept bringing it back. He said vegans are missing nutrients, that it makes no difference to the climate, that vegans are just doing it for virtue signaling, nothing to do with animals. He likened it to a religion, crop deaths and other stuff. Somethings that Jordan, Elon and Joe rogan talk on. Coincidently, he follows these people and loves them. So i know where its coming from. From the US, but live in Northern Ireland. I'm from the a forested part the US, and I must say the lack of forests / trees here is downright bizarre. Lots of green (grass for grazing), but hardly any trees. Some patches here and there. (And if you do find a patch, don't be surprised if the trees are planted very regularly as it's not a natural forest but tree plantation for harvesting.) It's sad but most people in the UK/Ireland are used to this, to them this is normal and natural. They insist they just don't have the space compared to the US, but frankly if it's a choice between trees or cows/sheep, I'm going with the trees.

Going to a 'wild' place to a lot of Brits means walking along a farmer's field. For Germany, at the least I was impressed by seeing some buildings in Munich with lots of plants in them / on them? Little things like that make modern cities (or modern parts of a cool old European city) so much less dreary. Most people care nothing about nature. I believe it should be a requirement of have a nature class every year in school. eg once a month, the students are outside all day in the woods. And, to graduate from high school, must be able to identify all local plants and birds (by sight as well as song). Most people don't care about nature because they're never in it. Granted, my opinion of humanity is so low at this point I'm not sure how much such a class would actually change hearts and minds. At the least it'd be a bit of nature therapy every month for stressed out students. And hey-o, in the US, less stressed out / happier students might lead to fewer school shootings, you never know.

Yes. It’s a sad fact that, much like a large portion of the United States, the British Isles cut down & destroyed vast portions of their natural forests long ago. Most of the original “Sherwood Forest” of England is long gone. Was it all cut down & destroyed for the sake of livestock grazing & feed? I suffered from metabolic syndrome (obesity, high cholesterol, high triglycerides, and high blood sugar). I went whole food plant based no sugar oil or salt and I lost 65 pounds, all my conditions greatly improved, my gums stopped bleeding, and erections and energy returned. I used to have an appetite that was never satisfied; whole foods cured it. I no longer use a sleep apnea machine. Finally, the food is cheap-Beans, lentils, rice, potatoes and seasonal apples. Also, I save money by not having to buy pills or visit the Doctor. I am thankful to all the vegans who suffered attacks to reveal the truth to me.

I'm against animal testing and experimentation. And I know how musk runs his companies. He pushes for faster pace, short deadlines, simplifying processes to the point that they break and you have to add 10% back on for it to work. Even though Musk is known for Tesla, he didn't co-found it. Due to some lawsuit, however, he's able to call himself co-founder.

@@artlover2866 Tesla was founded in 2003. In 2004, Musk made a big investment and became a board member and the majority shareholder. So obviously, he didn't found Tesla. I don't know much about it, but the founder that got pushed out of the company sued over who can call themselves co-founder. In 2009, they settled the lawsuit and now there are 5 "co-founders" of Tesla, Musk being among them. There is a CNET article about it called "now there are five". Just do a google search.

I'm not sure how the part about "go F yourself" related to him not being an advocate for free speech. That comment was directed at advertisers threatening to pull funding of he didn't comply with their wishes. So it was a kind of win for free speech, not a mockery of it. I'm not saying I even like Elon or think he's a good guy. But standing up against people attempting to censor dissent IS a win for freedom of speech. We should support such things as veganism is still a fringe concept to many. And there are powerful people wanting to supress it. Take the laws that made photographing factory farms illegal. What if this expanded to simply talking bad about animal agg? We must be advocates for free speech, not laughing at people who advocate for it if they come from a different place on the political spectrum
