Brazilian law does not require every company operating in Brazil to have a legal representative, only those companies that have a legal entity established in Brazil, which X is not since it closed its representation in Brazil. The laws were not made by the judges but by the senators and deputies. If a company does not want to comply with Brazilian laws, it has no right to establish itself here. It is like this everywhere; why wouldn't it be the same in Brazil? X does not want to provide the information that the justice system is requesting as part of an investigation. The investigation is not about "disinformation" but about an illegal association to destabilize a democratic process, such as an election.

I completely agree. It's a similar line of logic for why I use Android instead of iOS. If a government goes to Google and Apple and says you have to removed this app, you're pretty much out of luck if you have an iPhone. If you have an Android phone, you can just download the APK from the developer and install it like an app on any other computer. The Supreme Federal Court judges are appointed by the President of the Republic; however, it is the Federal Senate that approves these appointments. Ultimately, the senators, elected by the people and important representatives of the people, are responsible for placing the judges on the Supreme Federal Court. X has to follow the laws of Brazil. Brazilian law does not require every company operating in Brazil to have a legal representative, only those companies that have a legal entity established in Brazil, which X is not since it closed its representation in Brazil. The laws were not made by the judges, but by the senators and deputies. If a company does not want to comply with Brazilian laws, it has no right to establish itself here. It is like this everywhere; why wouldn’t it be the same in Brazil? X does not want to provide the information that the justice system is requesting as part of an investigation. The investigation is not about "disinformation," but about an illegal association to destabilize a democratic process, such as an election.😂

The main challenge with a mesh network is that there are inter-node overheads that pile up. For example, they could likely easily have traffic jump from satellite to satellite from a user in Brazil, down to a user in the US, without ever going to any ground station, but the speeds will be mush slower, if the traffic is sent to a ground station, then to a major internet backbone, to reach a station in the US where it is then sent to the closest satellite to the user receiving the traffic. In the case of Brazil, they would likely move Brazil to be completely mesh networking and have ground stations outside of the country handle the traffic, thus users in Brazil will maintain internet access but it will just be slower. The challenge with satellites is that power is extremely limited, thus they can't give them networking equipment that would deliver on the order of a terabit of throughput but that can easily be done on the ground where you can pull as much power as you want.. While modern mesh networks can load balance and spread traffic across multiple paths, if too many people want to access a few specific resources, then they will still eventually encounter bottlenecks. Though as technology improves, then ground stations will become less needed over time. For example, look at the changes to small mesh based ISPs over time where nodes are installed on the roofs of homes. Each new customer expands the overall coverage area of the ISP, but the further you are away from peering point, the slower the connection becomes, regardless of signal strength, even during times of light usage where the mesh shouldn't be congested, thus they eventually reach a point where they need to add an additional peering point to reduce the number of hops traffic needs to make across the nodes, though as the technology improved, those mesh based ISPs are able to have a single peering point cover a far wider area within the same transmit power restrictions of each node, as the faster hardware means that far more hops can be handled before speeds fell below what they are advertising.

I just spent 2 months in very rural Oaxaca, where cellular is the only other option for internet and it sucks and is expensive. Thanks to Elon though and Starlink, I had GREAT internet, even during rain thunderstorms, which its in season right now. I highly doubt there will be Fiber Optic where my family is from in the next 5 yrs or maybe even longer. There was never an option to have cable, DSL, or even just a phone landline in any homes. There's no infrastructure, unless you're in one of the larger towns, and even then, its very limited. So when I say Starlink is a GAME CHANGER, I mean it. Glad Elon is sticking it to Brazil's government and giving the people FREE internet.
