It's official, Project Kuiper has stumbled yet again! At the beginning of 2024, I said that there was absolutely no way bozos would have a commercially viable product before the end of 2024, as he indicated, and it looks like I was right. (It happens!) Amazon provided additional guidance and today we discussed it. Questions for you: Can Jeff Bezos's Project Kuiper compete with Elon Musk's SpaceX Starlink? Do you think Project Kuiper can make the FCC deadline? If Project Kuiper doesn't fail, what year would it be competition to Starlink? Should Jeff Bezos pull the plug on Project Kuiper? You are totally correct that Kuiper will not succeed bozos ego will get in the way. It is sad that he cant get out of his own way. When Spacex gets Starship fully functional ,they will all have to use Spacex. As far as Jeff falling into making Amazon the mega store that it is, he was just in the right place at the right time. Tower Records had the opportunity to become the first mega store but passed. I'll tell you the story sometime . Your analysis was spot on. Hope you and the bride have a great 4th.

Bezos is an absolute clownbag. Dude’s trying to throw up all kinds of roadblocks for SpaceX building out 39A/39B in FL while simultaneously using SpaceX/ULA to get their sats into space🙄. I no longer view Starship progress in terms of merely Starlink advancement. To me it’s about leading the entire world’s space industry into the next generation. SpaceX has already lapped Boeing and others in a short amount of time. Which is awesome but sad at the same time because the US used to be mighty in this way. I believe America needs SpaceX to be successful if only for technological advancements they are developing and pushing their competitors to improve their processes and get better.

I'm going to play Devil's Advocate here since it seems like no one else is. It does not matter how many satellites you have in orbit. What matters how good those satellites are. If one Kuiper satellite is as good as 1,000 Starlink satellites (they aren't. Just using this as an example), then after 7 satellites, Kuiper is in the lead with capability. Not availability but I'm playing the role as advocate here. Bezos is not an idiot either. If he was, he would've attempted to make a Falcon 9 competitor, which New Glenn is not. New Glenn aims to be a cheaper Falcon Heavy which is doable. He's also decently knowledgeable on Spaceflight. His interview with Lex Fridman shows that. Not as much as Elon is, but Elon is a 1 in a billion type of person. He essentially is trying to be his own customer which would help Blue Origins vastly. Make it profitable for once and some deep profits at that. As for the deadline, that's another story. If he's able to build several New Glenns and reuse them, he may be able to reach the deadline. Some basic math tells me he can launch 56 Kuiper Satellites per launch. In reality it would be less since the 45t of estimated payload for New Glenn comes from it's expendable capabilities which Blue Origins does not intend to pursue. I will do the math and come back in an hour with the proper numbers for this rocket

@bryanhood98394 ай бұрын
They would have to launch 66 satellites every month for the next 24 months to get the required 1600 or so in orbit by the deadline, that's assuming they can manufacture them that fast; I wonder how many satellites they can launch on ULA's rockets at one time and how much each launch would cost? Seems cost prohibitive and logistically impossible at this point; If New Glenn was operational maybe, but that doesn't look likely either any time soon

Staying out of the love or hate Elon politics. Just my opinion as a paying customer, I would love to see my monthly service in the sub $100 price point and competition would definitely help with that. With the current rate for fixed location residential service averages out to $4 per day (not including hardware of course ;-). My Starbuck coffee fix was way more than that plus sales tax, now I make my coffee at home and no longer have to commute 20 miles one-way to work savings is more than $4 per day to cover the cost of my internet service. I can say that they've been steadily improving speeds of 150+ down and 20 up during Netflix hour. In some of my download logs for my video podcasts 1920 x 1080 at least 2 hours in length that are scheduled for after 0200 hours EST, I've been clocking speeds in excess of 300 Mbps transfer rate per file. Wanting Project Kuiper to succeed, but right now they'll need to offer something really impressive like symmetrical gigabit connection on a 12 x 12 inch dish out of the gate. :-p

Difference between Musk and Bezos - Musk, worth tons and tons of money knows what he is doing and has the education and skills to do what he does. Musk is driven, works amazingly long hours and has endless energy. Bezos lucked into making lots of money. He has no physics or engineering education/skills. Spends lots of time spending his money and hanging out on his yacht. He thinks his money can buy the people to develop and run a space company, but he, himself, does not spend the long hours to make it work. No wonder the only thing Bezos can do is try to slow down Musk with lawsuits. Musk is brilliant, Bezos is an idiot.
