This was an almost three-hour show, and most of the best stuff never made into the documentary. I was 16 and right in the center of about 300,000 people. The weather was absoluterly perfect, and the sound was absolutely perfect. The music loud, but crystal clear with no distortion It sounded like it was coming from all directions, including the buildings. Notice how good his upper register sounded, and the band was flawless. Even enjoyed Richie Zito and Tim Renwick on guitar.

NYU - at the fraternity house - 3 in the morning - lights out - everyones asleep - stereo is on - Tiny Dancer plays - bedroom is dark except for the the soft blue light from the stereos receiver - 1975 - time flies.

@@wxj5640 August 1976 at Madison Square Garden was my first Elton Show - three hours - one of the greatest entertainment nights of my life - I saw him many times after that and twice with Billy Joel - I was in grad school in Georgia when he performed in Central Park in 1980, missed that one. Good luck and tell your fellow students to knock off the woke, snow flake BS, needing safe rooms - what nonsense - you should have been with us at NYU in the 1975 - 1979 - we would invite strippers and chicks from FIT to our Frat parties - it was like the movie Animal House - you could say anything for a laugh as did the comedians we looked up to and admired at the time - social media, the internet and addiction to cell phones and violent video games has fucked humanity up especially young people and all that anti Semitism on college campuses is awful for Jewish students - no way would i want to be 19 now - you have no idea how much more fun we had - best of luck -- PS- i used to bone this hot Asian chick she dormed at Brittany Hall - shes someones grandma now lol - I lived at Weinstein Hall then moved into our frat house - PSS - little advice, make as much money as possible it gives you freedom to travel where and when you want and live where you want - not worrying about money is a huge lift off your emotions

I never saw her again, but feel the same way as you do, T.K. Young love is very special but takes a toll on our hearts, for sure.

My best friend was such a huge fan that she knitted him a sweater with the cover art from the Captain Fantastic and The Brown Dirt Cowboys on it. It was flawless, and she mailed it to him. I wonder if it ever made it to him. She never heard back
@staceys1870 Жыл бұрын
@@recoveringsoul755 Just incredible your good friend did this. Did she happen to take a photo of the sweater? It's a shame she never heard back, and I do hope Elton saw it. It makes you wonder how they handle all the gifts he and and his band receive. That sweater would cost a pretty penny if she made one again! Amazing story.
@recoveringsoul755 Жыл бұрын
@@staceys1870 I don't know if she took a picture or not. Does she know his size? The colors were accurate too. It must have taken forever. I have no idea how she got the lettering right. I thought she should keep it, told her he may not ever see it because someone else probably opens his mail. She said she didn't care. Makes you wonder how many one of a kind works of art and other gifts come flooding I'm. So many he doesn't appreciate them. There should be a form letter thank you at least I'm not sure it's the kind of thing he would wear.
@staceys1870 Жыл бұрын
@@recoveringsoul755 Wow, her heart was in the right place, and may the heavens honor that! Yep, there really should be something that acknowledges the fans. That sweater must have been just gorgeous!! I remember having my mom take me to buy a birthday card for a local radio DJ. I must have been in the 6th grade, and really took the time t find the "right" one. The DJ was no celebrity, and it sure sooo disappointing that not even a form letter was sent to acknowledge. If there aren't "fans" these people don't have jobs, yet I understand at the same time. Take care!

I cried the day I heard him open his mouth and the falsetto was gone! It was an amazing voice before the nodules!
@bluerazor70492 жыл бұрын
Just so you know that after his surgery in 1987 he still used falsetto into his 1988/89 tours, and began using it from 1995-1998. And he still uses it here and there now. Some of his concerts in this year were the best vocally in the past 20 years!
@gahloot2 жыл бұрын
@@bluerazor7049 His falsetto had really diminished by Reg Strikes back, and Sleeping with the past. But I'll take it, in comparison to anything done after Made in England. Actually, I saw him sing live, the songs from El dorado. And I enjoyed his voice. After that it's been all pretty much down hill. I've seen him in concert about 100 times. Before and after his surgery. That last concert I fully enjoyed was the Disney/Elton John's Aids benefit concert with Ray Cooper at the Greek Theater. I'm I believe 1994. The last time I saw EJ live was mid 2000's. When his voice really started diminishing. I swore I'd rather remember him when he was at the top vocally. Instead of seeing him later on when he started doing his "Let's build a retirement for my kids tours". I had free tickets for the recent Dodgers stadium farewell concert. I gave them away.
@bluerazor70492 жыл бұрын
@@gahloot The vocal-surgery and age are the main cause. He could do falsetto up until 1998 very well if he wanted to but chose not to because he learned a different vocal approach. There's plenty of live show recordings, I'd recommend looking up GregSynthWizard if you want to listen to his 'Prime-Live' shows which are a peroid from 1979-1986. For post-surgery I'd recommend listening to the Winston-Salem show of 1997. It's got a lot of wonderful gems there.
@gahloot2 жыл бұрын
@@bluerazor7049 I went to 5 nights of Elton at Universal Studios Amphitheater. His voice was trashed even worse than it was for the Australia concert. If I'd known his voice was so bad. I wouldn't have bought all those tickets. Sadly my mom and dad never heard his voice in his prime.
